BSN Cmpletin Degree Curriculum Plan The Bachelr f Science in Nursing degree will be awarded t students wh successfully cmplete a minimum f (122) hurs f curse wrk. In this baccalaureate cmpletin prgram, up t sixty- ne (61) credit hurs are awarded fr successful cmpletin f an assciate degree r diplma prgram in nursing which includes curses in the nursing majr and general educatin. The cmpletin prgram requires an additinal 21 credit hurs in general educatin and elective curses, and 40 credit hurs in upper level nursing and majr curses fr a minimum f 122 credit hurs. All nursing (NSG) curses are designed t be cmpleted in a five-week perid. Students are strngly encuraged t enrll in the fllwing curses prir t enrlling in the Nursing Curse Sequence utlined belw: BUS 310 Intrductin t Financial Management** MAT 201 Intrductry Statistics* ENG 302 Prfessinal Research and Reprting* SOC 313 Diversity Cmpletin f the afrementined curses will be required fr graduatin. 7 Prir Experiences and/r Certificatin and Academic Credit Earning credits based n experiences and/r certificatin is gverned by the Extra Institutinal Credit plicy f the Cllege (see Cllege Catalg). BSN students may challenge by examinatin thery curses but cncurrent clinical curses are exempt frm credit by examinatin. Cllabrative Clinical Experience Dress Cde Students are expected t dress in a prfessinal manner when cnducting Cllege/Curse related business in clinical agencies. Prfessinal attire includes a clean, unwrinkled lab cat with schl insignia n the left sleeve and student ID badge. N frm f denim r tennis shes shuld be wrn in the clinical setting r at CMC-NrthEast. Business Casual is expected. Students shuld becme familiar with the dress plicy f their assigned agencies and must fllw stated agency plicies. Vilatins f dress plicies may represent a breach f agency cntract with Cabarrus Cllege and may result in terminatin f assigned clinical experience. Clinical Travel A variety f rganizatins and clinical agencies are used t meet prgram gals and bjectives. Students are expected t prvide their wn transprtatin fr all curses. N reimbursement will be given fr mileage r expenses incurred. Health Infrmatin Students must meet all health and immunizatin requirements f Cabarrus Cllege and assigned health agencies. That includes up-t-date immunizatins, tuberculin cntrl measures (test and/r chest x-ray), Hepatitis B vaccine (r signed declinatin frm), drug screen, and cardipulmnary resuscitatin certificatin. All health infrmatin must be accurate and remain current during the academic year. RN Licensure RN licensure is an admissin requirement and is mandatry thrughut enrllment in the BSN cmpletin prgram. The RN license must be current, unencumbered in NC r a COMPACT state thrughut the academic year. Any change in RN licensure status must be reprted t the Prgram Chair immediately. Written Assignments The American Psychlgical Assciatin (APA) is the style apprved fr written assignments fr CCHS students. All written assignments must fllw APA guidelines fr cver r face page, headings, citatins, serializatin, listing, margins, references, etc. Students are encuraged t use nline surces f infrmatin abut APA style but are cautined t use resurces that are based n the mst current editin f APA. ATTENDANCE The Cabarrus Cllege faculty expect students t cnsistently attend and participate in all academic curses in which they are registered. Attendance refers t all required n-campus classes, labratry sessins, clinical/fieldwrk and related experiences, as well as active participatin in distance educatin activities as 7

8 utlined in the curse syllabi. Absences interfere with the student receiving the full benefit f the educatinal experience and therefre shuld nly ccur in emergency situatins such as persnal illness, family illness, r death f a clse family member. In rder t meet academic attendance expectatins, all students must have access t the internet, a telephne, Cabarrus Cllege , the Learning Management System , and as applicable, transprtatin services. All students are expected t keep their cntact infrmatin up t date in Snis and check their Cllege accunt, persnal phne, and the Cllege website fr annuncements cncerning Cllege clsings, delays r rescheduling due t inclement weather, faculty absences, facility clsing r ther emergencies impacting student attendance. Crrespndence Statement: is a valuable cmmunicatin tl fr issues in this curse assciated with infrmatin and ntificatins (schedule changes, making appintments, ntificatin f assignments, etc.). When there is a need t reslve differences regarding perfrmance evaluatin, grading, r ther academic issues cmmunicatin shuld be via a scheduled meeting between the faculty and student. As a general rule, the instructr will respnd t student cmmunicatins within 48 hurs. General Infrmatin Students are expected t use the syllabus, curse calendar and guidelines thrughut the semester and t refer t this infrmatin when raising questins r clarifying assignments. Majr papers and ther class assignments must be typewritten and prepared accrding t acceptable cllegiate standards and APA guidelines. Assignments will be evaluated based n APA guidelines. Assignments submitted after the due date will autmatically lse 10 pints per day, any assignment submitted later than 3 days after the due date will receive a 0 fr the assignment. In the event a student is unable t meet a scheduled due date because f circumstances beynd their cntrl the student may request an extensin fr a specific assignment. Extensins are granted by the faculty n a caseby-case basis, all extensins must be requested prir t the due date. Wrk schedule/changes, internet access issues, and cmputer issues will nt be cnsidered as circumstances beynd yur cntrl. All exams, quizzes and assignments will be graded as sn as reasnably pssible. Exams, quizzes and assignments are brught t the discussin sessins fr yur review. Any grading issues must be reslved at that time. 10 Service Learning Each student will participate in a service learning prject while enrlled at Cabarrus Cllege. The service learning experience will prvide the student and the cmmunity agency an pprtunity t prvide health related educatin t the diverse ppulatins we serve.
