1 Department f Teacher Educatin Tentative Admissin Requirements Must have cmpleted a minimum f 60 cllege credit hurs Minimum GPA f 2.75 Minimum cmpsite scre (r super scre) f 20 n the ACT Cmplete the Missuri Educatr Prfile (MEP) Assessment Successfully pass the MGEA exam with minimum scres f: English-183 Writing-167 Math-180 Science/Scial Science-188 Applicatin Prcess Lg n t the hmepage f LiNet and click n the STUDENT tab. The applicatin fr Tentative Admissin is lcated n the LiNet hmepage under Teacher Educatin Links (lwer left-hand crner). Click n the Applicatin fr Admissin t Teacher Educatin. (If yu are unable t lcate the applicatin link, please cntact the MSSU Cmputer Helpdesk at On ccasin the helpdesk may need t activate the link t yur site). Once the applicatin is submitted yu will nt need t d anything else. The applicatin will be sent electrnically directly t the Teacher Ed ffice, where it will be reviewed. Yu will receive a letter in the mail shrtly thereafter. Orientatin Yu will be required t attend an rientatin held frm 8:00 a.m. until nn n Wednesday f the week prir t starting yur Jr. Blck semester. The date will be indicated n yur acceptance letter.

2 Test Infrmatin ACT The Residual ACT is ffered n the campus f MSSU several times each semester. The test dates fr the semester can be fund n the Teacher Ed website r cntact the ACTS ffice at: The cst fr the ACT is $45. Students are required t pay at the cashier windw in Hearnes Hall, Rm 105. Yu will be given a receipt, which will need t be taken t the ACTS ffice, Hearnes Hall, Rm 314. Yu will receive the results f the test within a cuple f days. Students must wait 60 days befre they can retake the ACT exam. State entrance exam: MGEA The MGEA will be ffered n the campus f MSSU several times thrughut each semester. Students register nline at: The cst f the exam is $49.00 in additin t a sitting fee f $ Payment fr the MGEA test itself is made t the publisher (MEGA) during registratin. MSSU students shuld first g t the Bursar s Office (105 Hearnes Hall) and pay the necessary sitting fee and then bring the Bursar s Office receipt t the ACTS ffice (314 Hearnes Hall). MGEA test results will be available 4-6 weeks after the test is taken. Students must pass ALL sectins f the exam with minimum scres as listed abve. Students must wait 30 days befre re-taking the test. Test may nly be taken a ttal f five times. MGEA test takers wh need accmmdatins shuld cntact the Advising, Cunseling & Testing Services ffice at fr additinal details. Students wh have already cmpleted a 4 year degree frm an accredited institutin are exempt frm the MGEA. Please ntify the Teacher Ed ffice if this is the case. IMPORTANT: Please review the restrictins and rules determined by MEGA fr the test. Missuri Educatr Prfile Assessment Students cmplete the prfile nline at: A MEP Develpment Reprt is prvided immediately upn cmpleting the prfile. Please print the reprt as instructed and prvide a cpy f the summary (page 2) t the Teacher Ed ffice nce yu have made applicatin fr tentative admissin. (If a paper cpy cannt be btained upn cmpletin f the prfile, the pdf remains available t yu nline fr 45 days). Be sure t designate MSSU as a scre recipient when yu register. The cst f this assessment is $22.00 Hw t register withut a Scial Security number: If an examinee des nt have a valid Scial Security number (r Canadian scial insurance number), they may still register and test. During their first registratin attempt, they will be prmpted t prvide a Scial Security number; t cntinue with their registratin, they will leave the Scial Security Number field blank and then click Next. After clicking Next, an errr message will appear and prvide a link t click in rder t cnfirm that the examinee des nt currently have a Scial Security number. Once they have cnfirmed that they d nt currently have a Scial Security number, they may cntinue thrugh the registratin prcess. FYI: The Teacher Ed Dept des nt keep incmplete applicatins. 3 Setting up a Prfile Prf f Fingerprint Clearance Department f Elementary and Secndary Educatin (DESE) Online DESE Web Applicatin The prcess requires: 1. Establishing a user name and lgin If yu hld a substitute certificate yu have a user name and lgin. IMPORTANT - This is yur user name and lgin fr yur entire teaching career. **Keep the infrmatin in a safe place. 2. Creating yur prfile and cntact infrmatin Once created, the prfile can be changed by yu at any time. Name changes must be cmpleted by sending the prper dcumentatin t DESE. 1. Click Save (The Fingerprint shuld fill in autmatically within 72 hurs if the infrmatin has been received by DESE.) On the bttm left f the page select lgut. 3. PROOF f FINGERPRINT T verify that yu have been cleared, return t yur prfile after waiting 4-5 days. Click n Finger Print Infrmatin. Yu will see the fllwing infrmatin. 4 FBI/Highway Patrl Backgrund Check Prcedures Scheduling an Appintment (Missuri residents) All individuals must pre-register nline fr fingerprinting thrugh the State Highway Patrl s Missuri Autmated Criminal Histry Site (MACHS). The fingerprints are run thrugh the FBI and Highway Patrl data bases t check fr any law vilatins. The registratin site is lcated at Individuals withut access t the Internet may cntact the fingerprint prcessing cmpany, 3M/Cgent, directly at t have a Fingerprint Services Representative cnduct this registratin n their behalf. A fur-digit registratin cde is required t pre-register. The fur-digit registratin cde ensures that the backgrund check respnse is returned t the crrect agency. Educatrs whm are nt emplyed, r nt with a public district/institutin, use registratin cde The fee fr the fingerprinting prcess is $ Yu will have the ptin t make this payment nline at the time f registratin r at yur appintment. If yu pay a fee that is lwer than the amunt listed, yu are nt ding the crrect fingerprint check. Backgrund Check Results If yu are an educatr, substitute teacher, r teacher candidate, yur Backgrund check clearance infrmatin will be recrded autmatically n yur prfile page in the nline Educatr Certificatin System. Results f fingerprints are generally reprted t the Educatr Certificatin within 2-3 weeks frm the date f appintment. Please Nte: Backgrund Check/Fingerprinting/ clearance is required befre Junir Blck classes begin. In additin, Lcal schl districts will nt allw yu t begin the prfessinal semester withut a current backgrund check. This backgrund check is gd fr 1 year.
