1 EMPLOYEE INNOVATION GRANTS (EIG) The Center fr Innvatin supprts creative excellence and celebrates ideas that inspire change, transfrmatin and prfessinal develpment fr all SLCC emplyees. Emplyee Innvatin Grants (EIGs) supprt meaningful and well-charted prfessinal develpment prjects fr which funding might nt therwise be available. Objectives Prmte Innvatin & Knwledge Sharing: EIGrants reward innvative thinking, prjects, prgrams and emplyees wh are willing t share their knwledge and expertise with the intentin that the brader Cllege cmmunity will benefit. Enhance Individual Prfessinal Develpment: EIGrants increase and refine the skills and abilities mst directly related t the prfessinal develpment gals f the emplyee s current Cllege psitin. Prpsals benefitting a grup f emplyees are encuraged. Imprve Prgram Quality: EIGrants imprve prgram vitality and address the rapidly changing, diverse Cllege envirnment. Increase Effectiveness: EIGrants encurage emplyee effectiveness and prductivity in meeting the changing needs and rles in higher educatin. Guidelines Eligible Applicants All Full-time SLCC Emplyees Call fr Prpsals Friday, September 18, 2015 Applicatin Deadline Tuesday, Octber 20, 2015 Applicatins Reviewed Octber 26 30, 2015 Grant Awards Mnday, Nvember 2, 2015 Annunced Grant Amunts Grants may be awarded in amunts up t $1,000. Awards typically range frm $250 - $1000. An itemized prjected budget is required in the applicatin. 2 Eligible Prject Ideas Attending prfessinal develpment cnferences, wrkshps, seminars r shrt curses with the intent f sharing knwledge gained with clleagues and making an innvative change at the Cllege. Prgrams designed t imprve student access and services, learning envirnments, placement r ther aspects f student life. Prjects that imprve the physical envirnment f the Cllege. Emplyee Learning Cmmunities prviding a frum fr sharing best wrk practices and gaining new ideas fr prductivity and effectiveness. Cllabrative prjects with public schls, higher educatin and the cmmunity. Interdisciplinary prjects. Experimental and innvative prjects. Cllege-wide prjects supprting an inclusive envirnment where mutual respect and equity are encuraged Cst-cutting prjects and/r prgrams designed t cnserve Cllege resurces and imprve efficiency and effectiveness. Please nte: The abve list is a list f prject suggestins. There are many mre prjects that culd qualify fr an EIGrant. Emplyees are encuraged t think innvatively, and cnsult with the Center fr Innvatin if they have questins abut an idea. Ineligible Prjects & Cnstraints include: Nrmal emplyment duties; Purchasing nly supplies, equipment, sftware r cmputer prgrams; Funding student activities; Tuitin reimbursement fr cllege degrees; Licensures r training required fr licensures; Prjects nrmally supprted by the Department r Cllege; Revising current prfessinal develpment prgrams r events. Please Nte: 1. Applicants shuld submit prjects that supprt the prfessinal develpment f their current SLCC psitin. Prjects must nt duplicate the effrts f ther Cllege persnnel r departments. 2. It is acceptable t apply fr nly partial funding fr a prject; hwever, applicants must disclse if funds frm anther surce will be used n the prject. 3. EIGrants cannt be used t fund prjects that can r shuld be funded thrugh existing departmental financial resurces. 4. Prpsals can nly be submitted by emplyees, and funded prjects must be cnducted by emplyees. Only full-time emplyees are eligible. The EIGrant prgram is nt pen t students. 5. Emplyees may submit multiple prpsals, but nly ne prpsal per emplyee per year will be funded. Prject Assessment 1. Recipients f EIGrants must assess the impact f their prject and prvide results f that assessment t the Center fr Innvatin & Prfessinal Develpment. 2. This requirement must be met within three mnths f prject implementatin. 2

3 Knwledge Sharing with the Cllege Cmmunity Recipients f EIGrants will share their experience with the brader Cllege cmmunity thrugh any f the fllwing means: 1. Frmally presenting t clleagues in a departmental r area meeting n knwledge and skills gained frm the prject. 2. Cnducting a wrkshp sessin/brwn bag/rundtable discussin at Prfessinal Develpment Day, training/wrkshp fr staff/faculty, r a Cllege-wide event. 3. Uplading a training and/r discussin n an nline platfrm (i.e. Udemy). 4. This requirement must be met within three mnths f prject implementatin. Timeline Review 1. Knwledge Sharing with the Cllege Cmmunity - Grant recipients must share their experience with the brader cllege cmmunity within three mnths f prject implementatin. 2. Mid-Year Prject Assessment Recipients must submit a written mid-year assessment t the Center fr Innvatin by Friday, May 20, Final Prject Assessment Recipients must submit a written final assessment t the Center fr Innvatin within three mnths f prject implementatin r by Nvember 4, Final Deadline Prjects must be implemented, assessed and shared with the Cllege cmmunity within ne year after the grant is awarded. Submissin Prcedures 1. Appendix A: Cver Page & Grant Applicatin Check List 2. Prject Descriptin* Prject Overview, Gals & Objectives- The prject bjectives and gals are clear, achievable and ntewrthy. Timeline fr Implementatin- Timeline must be utlined and achievable. Activities, Methds and Prcedures- The activities, methds and prcedures are well-defined and rganized and prmte the bjectives f the EIGrant prgram. Innvatin and Impact- The idea is innvative and will make a significant impact. Aligns with SLCC s Strategic Plan - The prject advances the Cllege accrding t SLCC s Cre Themes and/r Strategic Pririties. Prject Assessment & Evaluatin- The prpsal must have an effective plan t assess the prject and share his/her results. Knwledge Sharing with the Cllege Cmmunity- Develp a viable plan fr sharing results with the Cllege Cmmunity. *Submissin standard- please limit t 5 pages in ttal. 3
