Budget f apprx. 100,000. Backgrund: The Science Cuncil sets the standards fr practising scientists, thrugh prfessinal registratin. We believe that every scientist has a respnsibility t sciety, and themselves, t wrk with integrity, keep their skills and knwledge up t date and cnsider hw their effrts affect the wrld arund them. The Science Cuncil licenses science prfessinal bdies t award ne r mre f the Science Cuncil Registers t their Members: Registered Science Technician (RSciTech), Registered Scientist (RSci), Chartered Scientist (CSci) and Chartered Science Teacher (CSciTeach). The Registratin and Licensing Manager rle is there t set, uphld and enfrce the standards f registratin fr individual scientists and technicians and licensing f prfessinal bdies. Jb Purpse: T create and uphld a system that sets, maintains and imprves standards fr individual scientists, and the licensing and accreditatin systems fr prfessinal bdies. T cntinuusly imprve the cmpetence and cnduct f scientists t maintain public trust, and fr their emplyers and funders t have cnfidence in their wrk. Main Respnsibilities and Tasks Prfessinal Registratin Standards Wrk with the Registratin Authrity t ensure that registratin standards n all Science Cuncil registers are clearly dcumented, kept in line with best practice, and are effective in maintaining the registers as a mark f a scientist r science technician wrking at a specified level f cmpetence and cnduct. Ensure the quality assurance prcesses and systems used t admit and retain applicants t the registers, including cntinuing adherence t the apprpriate cde f cnduct and specified CPD standards, are clearly dcumented and kept in line with best practice. Use an apprpriate quality assurance system t train assessrs frm each Licensed Member wh are effective in uphlding the standards fr registratin. Prduced by: BP 1

Wrk clsely with the Crprate Services Manager t ensure that all registers are accurate and up-t-date. That enable the Science Cuncil t demnstrate the value and effectiveness f registratin T facilitate the receipt f feedback frm stakehlders t enable registratin standards and systems t be imprved. Develpment Keep registratin standards under review and prpse the develpment f new registers r types f register and registratin, such as prvisinal registratin t prvide pprtunities fr all aspiring and practicing scientists. Licensing Standards Wrk with the Registratin Authrity t ensure that licensing standards are clearly dcumented, kept in line with best practice, and are effective in ensuring Licensed Members maintain the registers as a mark f a scientist wrking at a specified level f cmpetence and cnduct. Manage the applicatin and review prcess fr prspective and active Licensed Members, crdinating assessments and making recmmendatins as required. Maintain apprpriate quality assurance systems t ensure that retentin f a licence requires cntinuing adherence t the crrect standards fr awarding and renewing registratin and supprting the grwth f the registers. Wrk with the Accunt Manager (Membership and Licensing) t regularly review Licensed Members perfrmance with regard t uphlding licencing standards, and recmmend award r renewal f therwise f licenses, and prvide clear and actinable feedback after each review t the Registratin Authrity. Develp and maintain a cnsistent standard in place fr accreditatin acrss all sciencerelated prfessinal bdies, s that all science curses and placements wuld enable students t becme registered nce they have relevant and sufficient wrk experience, and mnitr Licensed Members systems and prcesses against these standards. Develp and manage the apprval prcess fr apprenticeships schemes and ther vcatinal curses that aligns learning utcmes t the standards f prfessinal registratin. Cmmunicatin Wrk with the Directr f Marketing and Cmmunicatins t ensure the standards fr registratin, cdes f cnduct and ther respnsibilities f registrants are clearly cmmunicated and easily accessible t ptential and existing Licensed Members, trustees, staff and stakehlders, ptential and actual registrants and any member f the science cmmunity r public at large. Wrk with the Directr f Marketing and Cmmunicatins t ensure that guidance frm bth the Science Cuncil and Licensed Members fr prspective applicants and active registrants is clearly cmmunicated, regularly reviewed and updated, and accurately reflects the standards set by the Registratin Authrity. Be the ambassadr fr Science Cuncil prfessinal registratin standards fr scientists, science technicians and science teachers. Be part f the team influencing plicy makers, research institutins, cmpanies and educatinal institutins t recgnise and supprt the imprtance f registratin and t supprt the registratin f their staff. Be the main pint f cmmunicatin n standards and licensing with sister regulatrs and registers such as the Engineering Cuncil, and prfessinal bdies within and beynd science. System Management and Data Prvide qualitative and quantitative infrmatin n the status f each Licensed Member s license s the database and Accunt Manager (Membership and Licensing) is kept up-tdate, and the Registratin Authrity has the infrmatin it needs t make recmmendatins t the Bard. 4 Mnitring and Reprting Reprt the status and prgress f each Licensed Member against agreed standards t clleagues, managers, the Registratin Authrity and the Bard t meet the Science Cuncil s needs fr mnitring and gvernance. Expertise Be the charity expert n standards and quality assurance f registratin standards and prfessinal bdy licensing, t share and develp this knwledge within the Science Cuncil team and Licensed Members. Be the charity expert n benchmarking and cntinuus imprvement principles and practice in rder t supprt the Science Cuncil and Licensed Members. Gvernance Wrking with the Gvernance Manager, prvide expert advice t the Science Cuncil Bard, Science Cuncil Registratin Authrity and its sub-cmmittees.
