It is the recmmendatin f the Administratin that the Bard f Trustees apprve the selectin f Serenus Jhnsn Cnstructin f Bay City, Michigan t furnish all labr and materials t cmplete the 2017 Exterir Plaster Repairs and Rf Painting prject based n their bid f $181,180 and apprve the prject budget f $224,000 authrizing the Facilities Department and administratin t award cntracts t cmplete the prject. PEDESTRIAN SIDEWALK LIGHTING UPGRADES (BA5179) It is the recmmendatin f the Administratin that the Bard f Trustees apprve the selectin f Nuechterlein Electric, Inc. f Frankenmuth, Michigan t furnish all labr and materials t cmplete the 2017 Pedestrian Sidewalk Lighting Upgrades prject based n their bid f $227,037 and apprve the prject budget f $268,000 authrizing the Facilities Department and administratin t award cntracts t cmplete the prject. SNACK VENDING CONTRACT (BA5181) It is the recmmendatin f the administratin that the Bard f Trustees Apprve the award f the vending cntract t All Star Services fr 2017/18 thrugh 2021/22, with the pprtunity fr tw additinal ne-year extensins if mutually agreeable t bth parties. R. E. Selby made a mtin t apprve the recmmendatin. M. Nash secnded the mtin. Mtin passed unanimusly. ACCT MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL (BA 5182) R. Emrich made a mtin that the Cllege renew its membership in the Assciatin f Cmmunity Cllege Trustees (ACCT). Infrmatin Sharing Last fall, Delta Cllege received sme additinal grant funding frm the state f Michigan. Since 2015, Delta has been awarded $1.8 millin frm the Michigan Strategic Fund. Delta is ne f 18 cmmunity clleges in the state t be included in the prgram, which is aimed at training students fr in-demand, skilled trades psitins. The Cmmunity Cllege Skilled Trades Equipment Prgram als called C. C. STEP has been used t upgrade equipment in Delta Cllege s Chemical Prcessing and Cmputer Numeric Cntrl (CNC) areas. Sme f the grant dllars were utilized by Delta s Crprate Services divisin t develp several new jb training curses fr instrument technicians. Industry leaders such as Michigan Sugar and Dw Chemical have requested that Delta prvide this training, based n their business needs. In May, Delta will launch the new hands-n instrumentatin jb training, which will prvide up t 200 hurs f training. Delta Cllege is nw the single mst cst effective slutin fr hands-n instrumentatin training nrth f Detrit. This valuable resurce will help reginal businesses save thusands f training dllars. 6 The latest editins f the Delta Cllegiate. TRUSTEE COMMENTS M. Benecke said that she appreciates the students cming tnight. It is great t see what they have accmplished. She als thanked all wh nurtured the success f these students at Delta Cllege. M. Nash said thanks t ur faculty and staff fr helping ur students achieve success. R. E. Selby gave an update n the MCCA Spring Bard f Directrs Meeting that he attended March 23 24, 2017 at Jacksn Cllege. He said that the discussin fcused n the shifting emphasis in the State t skilled trades. There is a talent gap and jbs are ging unfilled. There was als a discussin n territrial integrity. The recmmendatin was made t refer the discussin back t the President s Cmmittee fr further discussin. R. E. Selby reminded everyne t tune in t Dateline Delta. This mnth s episde features the Delta Cllege Planetarium and Learning Center. He nted that the Planetarium is celebrating its 20 th Anniversary. M. Rwley cngratulated tnight s student award winners and thanked ur presenters. He als suggested that the Administratin explre the pssibility f fee free ATM machines n campus. M. Mrrissey said that it was great t hear abut the students accmplishments and awards this evening. She als thanked the presenters. A. Buckley cngratulated the students wh were recgnized this evening. In additin he thanked R. Curley fr his enrllment management presentatin. He said that in the future he wuld like t see a presentatin n ur nline prgrams and hw they affect enrllment. R. Emrich thanked D. Middletn fr chairing this evening s meeting. CHAIR COMMENTS D. Middletn said that she had the pprtunity t attend the ACCT Leadership Gvernance Institute. The Institute fcused n several areas f imprtance t Trustees. She said that ne f the valuable discussins centered arund 6 items f primary cncern t cmmunity clleges. Thse are: 1. Mental health 2. Fd insecurity 3. Enrllment trends year decline in state supprt 5. Student success rates 6.
