Infrmatin Wrkshps fr the Schlarship Applicatin will be held n Wednesday, Nvember 29, 3:00pm- 4:00pm, Tahe Hall Rm 1009 Thursday, January 18, 2:00pm- 3:00pm Tahe Hall Rm TIMELINE APPLICATIONS Applicatins are due by 4pm n Wednesday, February 7, All applicatin materials must be submitted t Tahe Hall All applicatins must be in ur ffice by this date: pstmarks are nt accepted. We must receive tw riginal, signed applicatins and tw cpies f all accmpanying dcuments fr each schlarship, arranged in tw packets. Late, incmplete, ineligible r incrrect applicatins will nt be accepted. See belw fr details regarding eligibility. Applicatins MUST be rganized int cmplete packets in this rder: 1. Applicatin, 2. Transcript, 3. Resume; 4. Essay; and if required, 5. Supplemental Essay and/r applicatin int the majr if applicable. 3 SELECTIONS Students are selected by designated faculty r cmmittees between February - March 2018 NOTIFICATIONS Selected recipients are ntified by in March and will be invited t attend the 47th Annual CBA Awards Banquet n Wednesday, May 9, The schlarship award is presented at the CBA Annual Awards Banquet. Attendance at the banquet is highly encuraged. Please nte: we ntify recipients nly; s/letters are NOT sent t applicants nt selected fr a schlarship(s). DISBURSEMENT f SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS The schlarship funds are distributed t the student at the beginning f the Fall 2018 and/r Spring 2019 semesters, depending n award terms specified. Imprtant: all criteria listed must als be met at time f the award [Fall 2018 and/r Spring 2019] semester(s), nt just at the time f applicatin. 5. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS MAJOR If applying t the business majr at the same time as applying fr schlarships, very imprtant infrmatin see the nte abve! IF YOU ARE A CONTINUING BUSINESS MAJOR: In rder t receive schlarship awards administered by the Cllege f Business Administratin, yu must be majring in Business Administratin r a CBA Graduate Prgram. FOR ALL STUDENTS: Yu must meet all stated criteria AT THE TIME OF THE AWARD (Time f award is Fall 2018 and/r Spring 2019) CITIZENSHIP & INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS Internatinal Students are eligible t apply fr all schlarships, EXCEPT schlarships that state US Citizenship as a requirement r schlarships that require that financial need must be demnstrated. The Persnal Respnsibility and Wrk Opprtunity Recnciliatin Act f 1996 included prvisins t eliminate eligibility fr federal and state public benefits fr certain categries f dcumented nn-citizens as well as benefits fr all undcumented nn-citizens. CLASS STANDING If a schlarship refers t class standing, yu must be at that class standing when the schlarship will be disbursed t yu - which will be Fall 2018 and/r Spring Class standing is determined by the number f units cmpleted, nt the number f years yu have been in cllege r at Sac State. Freshman standing: 0-29 units cmpleted Sphmre standing: units cmpleted Junir standing: units cmpleted Senir standing: 90 r mre units cmplete Example, if a schlarship says yu must be a Junir, but yu have 93 units, yu have Senir class standing and wuld therefre be ineligible fr that schlarship. 4 FINANCIAL NEED Fr any schlarship that states that Financial Need is required, yu must have cmpleted a FAFSA and have that n file with the Sacrament State Financial Aid ffice. This is the nly way that Financial Need can be verified. 6. HOW TO APPLY FOR ONE OR MORE CBA SCHOLARSHIPS Carefully review the award criteria fr EACH schlarship. Each schlarship is different and each ne has different requirements. Yu must meet all requirements f a schlarship t be eligible t apply. Turn in tw (2) cmplete applicatin packets fr each schlarship yu wuld like t apply fr. Each packet shuld include the fllwing items assembled in the fllwing rder [d nt staple anything in yur packet]: 1. Printut f the CBA Schlarship Applicatin. Be sure t sign each ne. 2. A print ut f yur Unfficial Transcript frm MySacState. Yur unfficial transcript must shw all curses taken and grades received and include Fall 2017 grades G t Lg int MySacState n right hand side f page G int yur Student Center Under the title Academic Histry, click n the Unfficial Transcript link. Then click n the dwn arrw fr reprt type "Student Unfficial Transcript" Hit "g" Print. 3. Current Resume 4. Written Statement which answers the fllwing questins* in a 2 paged, typed and duble spaced dcument Why yu think yu shuld receive a schlarship/award. Describe yur gals and bjectives fr after graduatin. Describe any cmmunity activities, student rganizatins, r service rganizatins yu are invlved in. Hw yu plan t finance yur educatin next year. ** Reminder: If yu are applying t the Business Majr fr admissin fr the Fall 2018, yu must als submit a cpy f yur cmpleted Supplemental Applicatin at the time yu apply fr Schlarships. ***Sme schlarships require a separate/additinal essay; that must be attached t yur applicatin fr that schlarship; als tw cpies. 5 7. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS APPLYING FOR CBA SCHOLARSHIPS Yu need t submit 2 applicatin packets fr each schlarship yu want t apply fr. Example, if yu are applying fr 3 schlarships, yu will turn in 6 cmplete packets [with all dcuments listed abve, in the rder they are listed]. Be sure each applicatin is signed. NO STAPLES!! In any part f yur applicatin. When yu turn in yur applicatins, please allw time the day yu drp them ff. We will need t review them fr accuracy and eligibility. Depending n hw many ther students are turning in applicatins, this may take up t 20 minutes. Yu may NOT drp ff applicatin when we are clsed r withut ur review. If yur GPA drps belw the required minimum GPA fr the award, r if yu are enrlled fr less than the minimum number f units fr the semester yu are t receive the schlarship, the schlarship will nt be awarded. Keep in mind that fr schlarships that require yu t have Financial Aid, if yu are nt granted Financial Aid, we cannt give yu the schlarship. Unless specifically stated, minimum GPA refers t verall cumulative GPA which includes units transferred frm ther schls. If yur applicatin is late r yu d nt meet the stated minimum requirements, yur applicatin will nt be cnsidered. 8. SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE Dwnlad the list f schlarships available fr fr business administratin students (link n ur website: Review the dcument very carefully. The schlarships are listed by cncentratin and yu must meet all f the eligibility requirements f an award during the semester in which yu are t be awarded. Yu may apply fr as many as yu qualify; if yu have mre than ne cncentratin yu may apply fr schlarships in each f yur cncentratins alng with the General Schlarships pen t all cncentratins. 9. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION Dwnlad and cmplete the Schlarship Applicatin (link n ur website: Once yu have read all the infrmatin and instructins abve, cmplete the tw items belw: Dwnlad and fill ut the CBA Schlarship applicatin frm frm the website and turn in with yur unfficial transcript, resume and essay. Remember, yu must turn in tw (2) cmplete packets fr each schlarship. Yur materials must be submitted as packets, with dcuments in the fllwing rder: i. Applicatin ii. Transcript iii. Resume iv.
