6 Why fund cnferences? We see cnferences as: a means t establish and clarify research agendas in specific areas f research a way t prmte cllabratin amng schlars and the develpment and sharing f research expertise

7 Current Fcus We currently seek prpsals frm schlars whse interests are related understanding educatin and learning in cnnectin t brader scial challenges.

8 Defining Brader Scial Challenges We define brader scial challenges as largescale prblems r key issues, such as immigratin, pverty, systemic discriminatin, criminal justice, and envirnmental health and sustainability, t name a few.

9 Making the case In develping yur cnference, we ask that yu cnsider the fllwing: the educatinal issue(s) t be discussed during yur cnvening (e.g., safety and discipline, early literacy r numeracy, access t financial aid), and the brader scial challenge (e.g., access t quality healthcare, mass incarceratin, technlgy infrastructures in rural cmmunities).

10 Making the case While we expect many prpsals will begin by fcusing n educatinal prblems, we als welcme prpsals that seek t add issues f educatinal imprtance t existing research n scial challenges.

14 Cnference Grants Prgram Guidelines/Eligibility: Administering rganizatin must be a nn-prfit PI and C-PIs must have dctrate degrees r apprpriate experience Budgets limited t $50,000 and may nt include indirect cst charges Duratin can be anywhere frm ne t three years
