Describe the yur prject and its gals: (250 wrd limit) Fr ur prject, we want t create an event, the Lve My Neighbr! Gathering, t the cmmunity n June 6th The gal is t cnnect peple wh have similar interests and expertise t create a mre integrated and cnnected netwrk f grassrts assets in cmmunity change effrts. During the event, we will have them meet with neighbrs in the same field f wrk. At the end, we will ask the neighbrs t identify ways t supprt and stay cnnected t each ther. By cnnecting assets r strengths f residents thrugh this event, neighbrs wrking ardently t imprve their cmmunities nw have cnnectins in neighbrhds that they can cnsult during their lngterm endevr twards cmmunity change. We knw we have been successful when we reach ut t residents wh attended and see if they cntacted, cnsulted, r are building relatinships with thse they met during the Gathering. 2. Explain hw yur prject benefits and lves yur neighbrs. (500 wrd limit): We came tgether as a grup because we want t cnnect neighbrs and residents in the nine cmmunities that are part f Lve My Neighbr! grant prgram. We believe by cnnecting residents f the prgram tgether, they can learn abut each ther's great wrk in the cmmunity, share their wn wrk, and create new relatinships and cnnectins that supprt their hard and lng effrts twards cmmunity change. We believe that the wisdm and seeds fr change in ur cmmunities are already present in ur cmmunities. We believe it is hw we nurish and grw thse seeds s that they multiple and increase in strength. As shared befre, by cnnecting these assets r strengths, the peple in ur cmmunities tgether, they will be able t have cnnectins t knwledge and expertise that can mtivate, inspire, and prpel their effrts. 3. Tell us abut the strengths and expertise yu and yur team bring t this prject? (250 wrd limit) Shad Hendersn brings strng cnnectins in the nine cmmunities t the effrt. He can reach ut t different rganizatins t find gd spaces t hst the event. He als has extensive planning experience that can help ur grup develp a strng agenda fr the evenings. Alexis Hayes has strng skills in creating flyers and ther materials t prmte the effrt. Sarah Dieleman Perry will help identify and reach ut t cmmunity members t serve as speakers fr the event. Shikha Jerath has skills in facilitating meetings and can cntribute t creating an agenda that is fun and realistic fr the attendees. Her cnnectins, t, can help spread the wrd abut the event. All f the individuals mentined will help prvide the skills and knwledge t be able t bring this event t the cmmunity. Additinally, the Grassrts Grantmaking Cmmittee (GGC) will ffer at least 15 hurs f vlunteer time t help develp the event agenda and set up the lcatin fr the event. 4. (500 wrd limit) The event is structured entirely n building frm the strengths f the peple attending and their wrk in the cmmunity. The peple attending will be sharing their stries and experiences ding psitive wrk fr their cmmunities. Additinally, they will be cnnected t individuals that d a similar wrk in their cmmunities. Fr example, smene that is wrking t imprve vacant lts in their neighbrhd is cnnected t smene with gardening experience and expertise. The strength and expertise r knwledge f thse helping with the event: Shad, Alexis, and Shikha will cntribute t the effrts as well. The lcatin f the event is a strng cmmunity hub fr residents. We can build upn the lcatin's reputatin by reaching the peple already activitely invlved in cmmunity wrk thrugh the lcatin. 5. Hw will the prpsed prject cntinue after yur wrk this year is dne? (250 wrd limit) We hpe thrugh the new cnnectins made, peple attending the event find individuals with interests and expertise that can help their prjects in their neighbrhds and develp new relatinships that can enrich their lives. We plan t get peples' cntact infrmatin s that we can cntinue t build these relatinships amng the peple that attended the event and thers that we believe wuld be gd resurces and relatinships fr thers in the cmmunity. We als hpe t create cmmunicatin platfrms that help peple stay cnnected t ne anther. Ultimately, we believe that the relatinship building that will result frm the event will lead t a psitive impact and place f cnnectin and belnging t any persn wh attends the event. 4 Prject Timeline This sectin is intended t help yu identify the actins that yu will take t cmplete yur prject. By utlining the amunt f time yu will spend fr each actin, this sectin will help yu make sure that yu cmplete yur grant during the grant perid (June 15 th 2017 June 15 th 2018). Actins: What specific activities will yu d t cmplete yur prject? 1) Bk the event space and caterer Ensure that the lcatin and caterer f the event are nes that residents trust and, even, have a relatinship with. Reach ut via facebk and t share detailed infrmatin and create a flyer that can be shared with residents during the interview prcess. Prepare all materials and speakers fr the event. This includes creating the presentatin, sharing handuts, reaching ut and securing speakers fr the event. MATCH: Applicants are encuraged t match their grant. A match means that whatever the grant amunt yu are requesting, yu match that amunt with dnatins and vlunteer hurs. The purpse f asking applicants t match their grant is t increase the amunt f funding fr their prject and increase cmmunity supprt and participatin in their effrts. Fr example, if yur prject gets vlunteers, 10 hurs f vlunteer labr at $12/hur equals $120 f an in-kind cntributin twards a match t yur grant amunt.
