The Persnal Statement and Prspectus must be duble-spaced and 12- pt. fnt. If submitting an unpublished draft chapter, it must als fllw these frmatting guidelines. Letters f recmmendatin shuld be written n institutin letterhead, signed, and ed directly by referees. Applicatin Dcuments: 1. Official Applicatin frm: Fill ut cmpletely via the fillable pdf. 2. Curriculum Vitae/Resume. Please see belw fr Curriculum Vitae guidelines. 3. Persnal statement (three-page maximum): Yur persnal statement shuld be a narrative that addresses hw yur prfessinal and/r persnal life influenced yu t undertake yur dissertatin prject and graduate degree. Describe hw yur schlarship r presence/service in the academy speaks t yur cmmitment t eradicating racial disparity and prmting crss-cultural understanding n yur campus. Label the dcument as the Persnal Statement. 4. Prspectus (three-page maximum): This shuld include a descriptin f the prpsed dissertatin including majr features and/r tpical rganizatin. Explain hw the award will allw yu t cmplete the dissertatin within ne year. The final page shuld include a schedule r timeline fr the year s wrk. The prspectus is separate frm the persnal statement; they are NOT the same. It cannt be cmbined int ne dcument with the persnal statement. Label the dcument as the Prspectus. 5. Draft chapter (50-page maximum): Draft chapter will nt be returned. 6. Official graduate transcript: Yur institutin must send the transcript directly t the Wdrw Wilsn Natinal Fellwship Fundatin. 7. Budget: Cmplete the enclsed Budget Frm. Allcate funds (up t $20,000 maximum) fr the 12-mnth grant perid (e.g., necessary living expenses, research-related expenses, and ther relevant csts). Include the amunt f dissertatin funding requested frm yur institutin, if applicable.

2 8. Tw letters f recmmendatin: Letters shuld nt exceed tw pages. The first letter shuld be frm yur dissertatin advisr and the secnd frm an academic schlar wh is knwledgeable abut yur graduate perfrmance and/r familiar with yur dissertatin prject. Recmmenders shuld cmment n yur research and schlarship t date and yur ability t finish the dissertatin within ne year. All letters must be signed and n letterhead and shuld be ed t mmufdis@wdrw.rg. Please nte the fllwing: Fellwships are awarded n a cmpetitive basis accrding t funds available in a given fiscal year. Wdrw Wilsn Natinal Fellwship Fundatin (WW) des nt cmment n the deliberatins f its award panels. WW des nt prvide evaluatins f successful r unsuccessful applicatins. Applicatins and supprting dcuments becme the sle prperty f WW and will nt be returned r held fr anther year. Applicatins are reviewed by distinguished schlars and shuld be prepared accrdingly. The term frthcming may have a variety f meanings. It is mst helpful, therefre, t state specifically the status f yur research. Belw are sme useful terms fr use n a C.V.: In prgress (still being written, nt submitted fr publicatin yet) Under review (submitted t a jurnal r press) Revising t resubmit (submitted t a jurnal r press and returned fr revisin) Under cntract (manuscript has been accepted by a press but may be underging revisins befre final publicatin) In press (manuscript finished, submitted t a jurnal r press and awaiting publicatin) It is als a gd idea t parenthetically explain the cnditins under which an article was published. It is best t state whether a text has been subject t peer review, is an invited submissin r whatever term best describes its publicatin. All letters must be signed and n letterhead. When are new grant awards annunced? New grant awards are annunced in mid t late February. When will alternates be ntified if they were selected fr a grant? Shuld an alternate be selected, they will be ntified by mid-april.

5 Hw is the stipend disbursed t MMUF Dissertatin Grant recipients? Stipends are sent t the MMUF Dissertatin Grant recipients in tw equal payments, in June and the fllwing January. What reprting is required f MMUF Dissertatin Grant recipients? MMUF Dissertatin Grant recipients are required t submit a final prgress reprt at the end f the grant perid. They are als required t infrm the fundatin when they have been granted the Ph.D. and prvide updates t their cntact infrmatin when necessary. The fundatin will send an ccasinal survey t mnitr prgress and prvide targeted cmmunicatins t recipients.
