The SWMS is a Tier 3 MDT service consisting of Consultant Endocrinologists, a GP with Specialist Interest, Clinical Psychologists, Dietitians, Physiotherapists and Health Trainers. Since it s beginning approximately 10 years ago the SWMS has grown quickly and now provides a Tier 3 service to the areas of Hartlepool, Stockton-On-Tees, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland, Whitby, Hambleton and Richmondshire. This new post comes as a result of additional CCG funding due to increased referrals to the SWMS which is a testament to the success and popularity of the service. The successful applicant will be responsible for running the SWMS dietetic service at one of the community venues and may also be required to provide cover at other venues. The successful applicant will have previous experience of working in the NHS as a dietitian and possess good written and verbal communication skills and be able to demonstrate excellent team working skills. The post holder will be working within the field of Orthopaedics and Rheumatology, treating patients in an acute ward setting and also in the community within their place of residence. The post will be linked closely to the Orthopaedics and Trauma Ward Physiotherapy Team, Orthopaedic Discharge Team, and the Orthopaedic & Rheumatology Outpatient Physiotherapy Teams. The successful applicant will have appropriate post graduate clinical experience and will have completed relevant core rotations. In addition they will have a high level of communication and organisational skills and will be motivated in developing this new and exciting post within the changing NHS environment. As a major tertiary cardiology centre, we perform simple and complex electrophysiology, with 3D mapping and AF ablation; implant over 500 devices a year, including ICDs, biventricular pacemakers/icds and implantable loop devices. We run daily follow-up clinics, including home monitoring for our ICD and loop device patients. The role is primarily focused in echocardiography however the post holder will be rotated through other areas of non-invasive diagnostic cardiology when service dictates and this may involve exercise tolerance testing, ambulatory analysis and cardioversions. Working with state-of-the-art echocardiographic equipment in a fully digital lab you will have the opportunity to work in all aspects of echocardiography, including 3D, in one of the North s leading cardiac centres. It is expected that the postholder will work on occasion at The James Cook University Hospital site. The Cardiology Department at the Friarage Hospital is part of the Cardiac Investigations Service of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This service is provided across two sites The Friarage and The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough which is a major tertiary referral centre for cardiothoracic services. Across the two sites there are 18 Cardiologists (2 based within the Cardiology Unit at the Friarage) 7 Surgeons,35 Cardiac Physiologists and 20 support staff providing an efficient and high quality service to patients. The Cardiology Unit is housed in purpose-built accommodation and equipped with state-of-the-art technology which allows us to take both secondary and tertiary referrals. The services provided at the Cardiology unit includes echocardiography and transoesophageal, including a direct access echocardiography service, pacemaker follow up clinics, loop clinics, CRT follow up with the potential to run ICD follow up and remote monitoring clinics dependent on skills of the applicant. The department also provides a full range of non-invasive Cardiology diagnostics, including ECG s, ambulatory ECG, BP and extended ECG monitoring, exercise tolerance tests, rapid access chest pain clinic, 6 minute walk tests and runs many Consultant and Nurse Specialist Clinics eg rapid access arrhythmia clinic and heart failure clinic. The department offers a range of imaging procedures: Transthoracic, TOE, DSE, exercise echocardiography, contrast echo, CRT optimisation, physiologist-run valve clinics as well as echo support to research trials. The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a large tertiary referral centre for cardiothoracic services.
