We are looking for someone who has a wide range of experience in paediatrics, so that they have the confidence to assess and manage more complex cases. The role will involve a full range of paediatric work including ABR, diagnosis of hearing loss, habilitation and assessment. As the sole provider of paediatric Audiology in the area, we are kept busy and carry out over 3,800 paediatric appointments each year. Clinics include tier 2 community clinics, complex assessments at the main hospital base and clinics at special schools. Paediatric habilitation is provided to all ages from newborn babies through to transition to the adult service working closely with the Auditory Implant Service to provide Bone anchored devices, middle ear implants and cochlear implants. We are fortunate to have our clinics well equipped with all services being provided in soundproof facilities with AC / BC / insert VRA, and transient otoacoustic emissions as a minimum. We also have a range of more specialist equipment to include the HearLab aided cortical system and video VRA. We have a particular emphasis on quality and working as part of a large team has the advantage of a shared knowledge base and support to discuss cases. There is also the opportunity to get involved in the management of the service working closely with the Clinical Lead, if this is an area of interest or might be of interest in the future. Full support can be given to develop management and leadership skills if required. South Tees Audiology is a large service with over 60 staff, who are proud to deliver high quality, innovative and comprehensive NHS Audiology care. The main purpose-built department is located in The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with additional outreach services across North Yorkshire, Teesside and County Durham. The service has developed over the past 20 years and transformed over this time to reflect the evolving and challenging clinical advances in Cystic Fibrosis care. Its philosophy of care is underpinned by ensuring the delivery of high quality, patient centred, evidence based care for patients with Cystic Fibrosis and their families. Its aim is to afford children and young people with CF the best opportunities to benefit from new therapeutic advances and therefore maintain and enhance their health and quality of life. The post holder will be expected to have substantial experience within paediatrics and significant knowledge and experience of the management of cystic fibrosis and respiratory disorders in this patient group. 15 Additional Professional Scientific & Technical Clinical Psychologist James Cook University Hospital - Psychology (South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) Salary: 40,028-48,034 Hours Per Week: 30 hours per week Job Type: Permanent Reference: 328-CD-0156 Closing Date: 21 Sep 2016 The Medical Psychology Service at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides an assessment and therapeutic service to people with medical conditions across Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire. The Service delivers psychological intervention and support to patients with a range of presentations across the lifespan. The service is staffed by Clinical Psychologists, CBT therapists and Counsellors. The post holder will provide specialist psychological intervention and support to patients diagnosed with cancer, including those with life-limiting conditions, and their carers. The post holder will be supported by Consultant Clinical Psychologists specialising in cancer and palliative care. The post will be based at James Cook University Hospital (working into the cancer MDTs) and in the Community Specialist Palliative Care Team based in Guisborough. The clinical work will involve: - Individual therapeutic work - Inpatient consultations - Community visits - Training in level 2 psychological approaches - Supervision of MDT colleagues The service utilises third wave therapies (especially Acceptant and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy) alongside CBT as the core therapeutic modalities, with training and supervision provided to support delivery of these approaches. The team is also part of the cancer clinical network, which provides a regional forum for Psychologists to network and support the delivery of high quality clinical care. The service also carries out clinical audit, research and service evaluation, in which the post holder will be actively involved. The post is also open to candidates who would be appointable at band 7. The Service provides the opportunity for development within the role to enable progression to band 8a, subject to the post holder demonstrating the required competencies. Medical Psychology is a valued and developing service within the Trust. Our work is based on a lifespan approach, and we provide input to a number of medical specialities (e.g. Pain, Neuropsychology, Diabetes, Cystic Fibrosis, HIV/AIDS, Renal Medicine, Plastics and reconstructive surgery, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Specialist Weight Management Services, Cancer, and Palliative Care Services). The team is friendly and supportive and there is a strong commitment to CPD. Our therapeutic work is based on four core therapeutic approaches (CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing), and we have an ongoing training and supervision programme to support therapists in the delivery of these approaches. The Gynaecology department at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a modern and comprehensive gynaecological service to women across the Durham Tees Valley Region and beyond. As well as complex laparoscopic procedures we have an established robotic programme for gynaecological oncology. James Cook University hospital is also a valued member of the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopists (BSGE) and is registered as a national Severe Endometriosis Centre providing training for advanced laparoscopic trainees. As part of our on-going development and investment within the Gynaecology directorate, we are complementing our service by introducing a second Surgical Care Practitioner to the speciality. The successful candidate will be in the exciting position of influencing, leading and developing the speciality service for the gynaecological surgical patient from referral through to admission, post-operative care and discharge with the support of a consultant team. Following a 2 year Post Graduate training programme, delivered by Edge Hill University, you will work as part of a team of specialist nurses and surgical care practitioners in providing an advanced level of care within the gynaecology speciality, in particular providing advanced practice cover for gynaecological surgical patients within defined professional boundaries with senior medical support. 17 Clinical Scientist The James Cook University Hospital - Medical Physics (South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) Salary: 31,383-41,373 Hours Per Week: 37.5 Job Type: Permanent Reference: 328-CD-0115 Closing Date: 04 Oct 2016 The Radiotherapy Physics section of the Department of Medical Physics at The James Cook University Hospital has a vacancy for a Clinical Scientist. Middlesbrough lies just outside of the North York Moors National Park and is within easy reach of other areas of outstanding natural beauty including the nearby coastal region of Whitby. The Department comprises 40 scientific and technical staff. The department prides itself on delivering state-of the-art treatment techniques to our patient population and research and development is actively encouraged. This post is part of a team of 14 physicists and 10 technologists working in radiotherapy physics. The successful candidate will possess a good knowledge of the radiotherapy process and will contribute to routine clinical service delivery and the development of new techniques and technologies across all areas of the service. Applicants for this post should be HCPC Registered as a Clinical Scientist or in a position to achieve registration within 12 months. We also welcome applications from individuals able to achieve registration via ACS route 2 within 3 years. The department has five Elekta Synergy linacs with Agility MLC (three of these equipped with FFF technology), one superficial/deep X-ray set and a TomoTherapy Hi-Art unit. Pre treatment imaging consists of Siemens and Toshiba wide bore CT scanners with associated ProSoma virtual simulation software. Treatment plans are produced using Oncentra MasterPlan and Monaco. We have an active brachytherapy service, treating a variety of sites using our Nucletron remote after-loading brachytherapy unit.
