The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate a high level of experience in Invasive Cardiology within an NHS setting. This contract is for an initial period of 6 weeks to start at the beginning of December with a possibility of being extended in the New Year. One post is to start in December with the second position starting in March Both positions are long term locum posts offering full time hours and accommodation onsite. The ideal candidates must hold BSE accreditation(or equivalent) and must have experience as a locum echocardiographer working within the NHS. 4 HEART & LUNG CENTRE NEW CROSS HOSPITAL CARDIAC INVESTIGATIONS 1 WTE BAND 7 HIGHLY SPECIALIST PHYSIOLOGIST (REPLACEMENT POST) REF: PT WTE BAND 6 SPECIALIST PHYSIOLOGIST (NEW POST) REF: PT WTE BAND 7 HIGHLY SPECIALIST PHYSIOLOGIST (12 MONTH CONTRACT COVERING MATERNITY LEAVE) REF: PT2101 We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated Physiologists who are keen to take on the challenge of working in our tertiary centre with previous experience in a broad range of highly specialised and complex technical Cardiology. You should be able to confidently work independently to perform investigations with excellent verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for Physiologists who will relish the challenge of being part of our clinical team. The Heart & Lung Centre is a purpose-built unit which opened in 2004 and serves a population of approximately 1.1 million. Our facilities comprise of three Catheter Laboratories and a dedicated Pacing Theatre supported by a 16-bed Day Ward, 37-bed Cardiology Ward and 27-bed Surgical Ward. We perform 1,600 PCI procedures, 1,000 cardiac operations annually and are also one of the UK s largest Heart Attack Centres undertaking more than 500 primary PCI procedures every year. We have a large device programme and our Electrophysiology Service is rapidly growing. The Cardiac Investigations Department is forward-thinking and innovative in its approach to service delivery. You will be expected to be able to work in diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterisation procedures including the Black Country Primary PCI Service and you will be part of the on-call team for this. You will also perform other non-invasive procedures such as 24-hour Holter monitor analysis and exercise testing. We have an established echo and complex device service, which provides standard adult transthoracic echo, TOE, and specialised scans including 3D, contrast and bubble, dyssynchrony, optimisation and DSE, pacemaker, ILR, ICD and CRT implantation and follow up clinics including Virtual checks. Electrophysiology has also recently been established, performing AF, 3D mapping and array cases. The department is dedicated to training new and established staff and encourages continual professional development. It has strong links with Wolverhampton University, the local provider for the Clinical Physiology Degree. Successful candidates who may lack experience in some of these areas will be provided with training plans devised by our training co-ordinator. The department will consider applicants wishing to work part-time. You should ideally have a BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent. BSE or BPEG would be of an advantage. RCCP registration is essential. The department operates from 8.00am to 6.00pm, with the technicians working a 4-day roster.
