Canadian Nurses Assciatin, in cllabratin with the Canadian Nursing Infrmatics Assciatin (CNIA) is preparing an updated Nursing Infrmatics Plicy Statement in cllabratin with NI leaders acrss Canada. The revised Nursing Infrmatics Psitin Statement will be available in the fall f 2016 and will fcus n the rle f nursing infrmatics in primary health care. CNIA designate represented the Canadian Nurses Assciatin n the CSA Strategic Steering Cmmittee n Health Care Technlgy and Systems (SSC Z250); Multiple representatives cntinue participatin in the Canada Health Infway Nursing Reference Grup t establish pan-canadian nursing infrmatin standards; Planning is underway between Infway and CASN fr a ptential new Digital Health Nurse Faculty Peer Netwrk with a fcus n integrating the infrmatics cre cmpetencies int the undergraduate curriculum and methds t bridge the classrm setting with the clinical setting. 2. Identify pririties r gaps and make recmmendatins fr future develpments in Nursing Infrmatics. A natinal, invitatinal Nursing Data Standards Sympsium was hsted in Trnt in April 2016, bringing tgether experts acrss Canada and wrking twards gaining cnsensus n establishing essential pan-canadian nursing data standards. The Canadian Nurses Assciatin and the C-HOBIC Prgram are wrking n Phase 3 - t include C-HOBIC measures in the Canadian Institute fr Health Infrmatin (CIHI) natinal Discharge Abstract Database. 3. Supprt the develpment f Nursing Infrmatics in member cuntries and prmte Nursing Infrmatics wrldwide. The Dr. Kathryn J Hannah Nursing Infrmatics Schlarship was established in t supprt nurses engaged in graduate wrk in nursing infrmatics. Tw majr crprate spnsrs have cntributed and have hsted tw multi-lecture series acrss Canada t highlight key issues in health infrmatics. 2 HealthCareCAN, and with an additinal emphasis n incrpratin f change management, the 2016 Natinal LEADing Practices Initiative resulted in five (5) award recipients recgnized fr their leadership in strengthening clinical practice and imprving the patient experience thrugh digital health. The Canadian Assciatin f Schls f Nursing and Canada Health Infway partnered t create the Nursing ehealth Faculty Award t recgnize faculty demnstrating leadership in ehealth and infrmatics educatin and the Nursing Student Award fr leadership in nursing infrmatics A Faculty Interprfessinal ehealth Award was established with the Canadian Assciatin f Schls f Nursing, Assciatin f Faculties f Pharmacy f Canada, and the Assciatin f Faculties f Medicine f Canada t recgnize innvatin and leadership in cllabrative ehealth educatin. The Canadian Nursing Infrmatics Assciatin (CNIA) Educatin Cmmittee develped an infrmatics self-assessment and annual survey that is sent t members in rder t develp ur yearly educatin prgram. Thrughut the year CNIA hsted webinars that fcus n fstering innvatin by expanding and disseminating knwledge abut nursing and health infrmatics in Canada. Specifically, webinars have fcused n: digital health, nursing data standards (ICNP) and lessns learned frm IT implementatins. The French Canadian ICNP Research Center has cmpleted the French Canadian ICNP Versin 4 and is nw available n the ICN website. They are currently wrking n ICNP Versin 5. The Registered Nurses' Assciatin f Ontari (RNAO) and Infway launched an expert panel t create a best practice guideline aimed at taking advantage f technlgy t ptimize clinical leadership and health system deliverables

CNIA has partnered with Canadian Nurses Fundatin in supprt f the Dr. Kathryn J. Hannah Nursing Infrmatics Schlarship. Pin sales will supprt the schlarship and nce the target funding fr the Schlarship is cmpleted, funds will be used t supprt CNIA s imprtant wrk in helping shape the future f Nursing Infrmatics in Canada. Wearing the new Canadian Nursing Infrmatics pin as a symbl f Nursing Infrmatics in Canada celebrates Canada s Nurse Infrmatician leadership, prfessinalism, academic endeavrs, research, and cntributins t Canada s Digital Health agenda. Canada s Nursing Infrmatics day is held annually n May the 12th, Flrence Nightingale s birthday, which als falls during Canada s Nurses Week. CNIA meets bi-mnthly with ur 10 jurisdictinal partners frm acrss Canada with a fcus n building capacity fr nursing infrmatics in Canada CNIA issues bi-weekly news blasts t ur members and ther subscribers t make them aware CNIA events and ther infrmatics events in Canada.
