1 ARMTEC POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION: Health and Safety Manager LOCATION: Guelph, Ontari DATE: September 2012 NATURE AND SCOPE The Health & Safety Manager develps and prmtes a well-planned health and safety imprvement prgram fr all ffice and plant persnnel within all CIA- Plastic and Steel business units, Sundwall and Brklin Precast in the Central Regin. The Health and Safety Manager assists Senir Management, Plant Managers/Supervisrs with ensuring that all emplyees, visitrs and cntractrs wrking within the varius facilities adhere t all cmpany health and safety plicies and prcedures. The incumbent reprts directly t the Reginal Vice President and indirectly t the Vice President, Health and Safety. LOCATION This psitin will be lcated at the 370 Speedvale Avenue, Guelph ffice, and will require travel (up t 80%) t varius plant facilities including the Central Regin Office in Bramptn. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/CHALLENGES 1. Reviews existing safety prcedures and risk assessments fr wrk activities cnducted by emplyees, cntractrs and thers t ensure adherence with internal standards and t prmte wrker/cntractr safety; identifies nn-cmpliant, incmplete r substandard prcedures, revises existing prcedures r develps new prcedures fr activities invlving emplyees and dependent cntractrs where sund practical knwledge f ccupatinal safety is required. 2. Reviews the use f new safety r site-specific equipment and assciated prcesses as they apply t the assigned area, assesses their safety impacts and ensures cmpliance with existing safety practices and standards.

Thrugh the applicatin f standardized and/r infrmal audit prcedures, cnducts r ensures regular wrksite inspectins are cnducted by lcatin r site managers t mnitr safe wrk practices, prcedures and regulatry requirements; recmmends crrective actin where nn-cmpliance with wrkplace standards is evident. 4. Prvides technical and cnsultative services t Operatins and/r site managers in the develpment and executin f the annual safety plan and/r t prime cntractrs fr prject safety management plans by identifying required risk assessment and cmpliance activities, advising n mandatry safety and related training requirements fr specific lcatins and prjects, and ptins fr meeting thse requirements; evaluates the status f the verall safety plan's executin r selected cmpnents fr assigned lcatins, identifies areas where technical supprt is needed and prvides ptins t managers fr ensuring plan requirements are met; reviews and audits independent cntractr safety management plans and manuals. 5. Ensures the delivery f mandated safety training prgrams fr lcatin emplyees, managers, cntractrs and thers as required. 6. Ensures the executin f crprate/natinal health and safety prgrams 7. Intervenes in unsafe wrk situatins which culd ptentially result in a safety incident, caches emplyees, managers, cntractrs and thers in crrecting unsafe behaviurs, escalates interventins t the site r designated manager level in serius situatins and initiates stppage f wrk where life and limb are at risk. 8. In cnsultatin with senir subject matter experts, prvides input int the design and develpment f hazard-specific training prgrams; may c-deliver selected prgram mdules. 9. Prvides cnsultative and technical supprt t site Safety Cmmittees by mnitring cmmittee activities and status f cmmittee issues t identify and respnd t infrmatin and learning needs; advise cmmittees f regulatry requirements and terms f reference; rients new cmmittee members t rles and respnsibilities. Oversees the wrk f external cnsultants cntracted t develp and cnduct specialty training prgrams fr specific lcatins, and ensures prgram adherence t internal and external safety standards, practices and prcedures 10. Maintains up t date knwledge in the field f ccupatinal safety and health, with particular emphasis n emerging safety trends, methds and practices affecting the peratin, develps and maintains netwrks and relatinships with the ccupatinal safety and health cmmunity inside and utside f Armtec, cmmunity and regulatry agencies and prfessinal rganizatins; acts as a pint f cntact at individual sites fr OHS inspectrs t facilitate the executin f wrkplace turs and ther activities related t external investigatins and claims.

3 11. As a member f the verall safety leadership team, prvides feedback and recmmendatins t Crprate Safety n prpsed changes t internal standards, external regulatins and their ptential impacts. 12. Cmpiles and dcuments infrmatin n specific safety tpics, statistics r trends. PRIMARY INTERACTIONS Interacts daily with regin management including Central Regin Leadership team and plant managers. Cllabrates with Safety Specialist fr CIA Precast, ther reginal Health and Safety Leaders. RECOMMENDED EDUCATIONAL/TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS This psitin manages the health and safety prgrams with the CIA Plastic and Steel sites, Sundwall and Brklin Precast in Central Regin. The incumbent prvides technical assistance, leadership, caching, and guidance t all lcal site management n a wide variety f health and safety subjects. The recmmended minimum technical backgrund and experience fr this psitin includes: Minimum f 5 years health and safety experience including at least three (3) years site health and safety respnsibility, and Bachelr s degree in health and safety field r clsely aligned science r engineering discipline, r Prfessinal certificatin in Safety r Industrial Hygiene (CSP r CIH) r in the prcess f certificatin. Slid knwledge f health and safety regulatry requirements and cncepts. Gd understanding f the health and safety issues, regulatins, and technlgy which impact the manufacturing industry and best practices. WORKING CONDITIONS Physical Effrt Much f the time will be spent travelling and walking within varius manufacturing facilities. Physical Envirnment Office is lcated in a cmfrtable indr area with travel up t 70% f the time visiting all relevant facilities within the Central Regin with expsure t dusty and nisy envirnments. Sensry Attentin Regular need t give attentin; seeing and hearing, t the subtleties f what is happening within the envirnment.
