OBJECTIVES Nte : Recgnize the exceptinal research cntributins f university students (master's, dctrate), pstdctral fellws and members f prfessinal bdies wh are enrlled in advanced research training prgrams in the areas cvered by the three Fnds de recherche du Québec 1 ; Prmte research careers in Québec; Develp strng ties between the Fnds de recherche du Québec and the prvince's student researcher cmmunity. 1. Fr the purpse f this cmpetitin, the term "student researcher" will be used t describe students, graduate students and pstdctral fellws. The term is nt a new designatin fr any f the three Fnds' prgrams. 2. AWARD $1,000 awarded every mnth by each Fnds; An verview f the recipient's wrk (article, bk r chapter, patent, creatin r perfrmance) and a pht f the recipient will be featured n the website f the awarding Fnds. 3. ELIGIBILITY Student researchers whse prjects have been released t the public fr less than seven mnths at the cmpetitin deadline are eligible. The prject must be in the frm f an article (in a jurnal with an editrial review bard), a bk r bk chapter, a patent, a creatin r a perfrmance f which the applicant is the authr. Oral presentatins and psters are nt eligible; Articles that are in press r submitted fr review are nt eligible; Articles published electrnically are eligible. Eligibility will be determined based n the electrnic publicatin date; in the case f publicatin in paper frm fllwing publicatin f the electrnic versin, eligibility will be determined n the nline publicatin date; All applicants must fill ut the attestatin frm (frmulaire d'engagement) included with the applicatin. Fr publicatins with several authrs, the fllwing rules apply: If several student researchers cllabrated n a prject in the same capacity and the published article explicitly states that the authrs all equally cntributed t the wrk, the student researchers shall share the award; If several student researchers cllabrated n a prject in the same capacity (withut being mentined in the article) and their cntributins are explicitly stated by the applicant n the applicatin frm, the student researchers shall share the award. When submitting an applicatin, the student researcher must be enrlled in an educatinal institutin, affiliated university centre r research centre in Québec. Québec students enrlled in an institutin utside Québec are als eligible. In this case, prf f citizenship r resident status is required (see sectin 8 - Applicatin Prcess); One applicatin per student researcher per cmpetitin. A prject may nly be submitted nce; A student researcher may receive the award nly nce. 6. EVALUATION CRITERIA Demnstratin f the prject's cntributin t the advancement f knwledge in a sectr cvered by ne f the three FRQ; Demnstratin f the prject's scial relevance and/r benefits; Demnstratin f the ability t explain the subject matter in plain language. The quality f the written language, the applicant's actual cntributin t the prject and, in the case f an article, the quality f the jurnal, will be taken int cnsideratin. 3 Prgrammes Règles du cncurs 7. EVALUATION PROCESS Applicatins must be submitted t the Fnds that versees the research sectr specified n the applicatin frm by the applicant r prpser. All applicatins will be assessed based n prgram criteria by an evaluatin cmmittee assembled by the Fnds. 8. APPLICATION PROCESS Deadlines fr submitting required dcuments March 1 st and September 1 st f each year, 4:00 p.m. Dcuments t be sent electrnically The nline frm available in the Tlbx. Applicants may fill ut the frm in French r in English. Hwever, the prject summary must be in French. A cpy f the prject. Dcuments fr assessing the eligibility f the submitted prject, clearly indicating 1 : the exact publicatin date f the prject; its review by a review bard (in the case f a jurnal article). A dcument attesting that the applicant is enrlled as a student at a Québec educatinal institutin n the date f submissin f the applicatin r, in the case f a pstdctral fellw, an attestatin frm the applicant's hst rganizatin. Québec applicants enrlled in an institutin utside Québec must prvide the fllwing dcuments: Prf f Canadian citizenship r resident status; A phtcpy f a valid Québec health insurance card r ther fficial dcument issued by the Régie de l'assurance maladie demnstrating that the applicant is a resident f Québec within the meaning f the Québec Health Insurance Act. Incmplete applicatins will be deemed ineligible. Nte: 1. Cpy f an r letter frm the publisher, screen capture f the jurnal's website n which the article is presented and/r the peer review reprt, r any ther relevant supprting dcument.
