The Energy Glbe Award is pen t cmpanies, private and public institutins and individuals frm all ver the wrld. This includes, amng thers: cmpanies (eg energy technlgy cmpanies, scial husing assciatins, energy utilities, energy cnsultants and planners, ther cmmercial and industrial cmpanies); municipalities; lcal, reginal and natinal authrities; gvernment departments; universities; research institutins; schls; private husehlds; and thers.

18 Award Categries Entries are assigned by the judges t the fllwing award categries. A single prject can be entered under mre than ne categry, and mre than ne prject can be submitted. The Earth Categry Prjects relating t: agriculture; crps emplyable fr energy; building materials; insulatin; slar energy; and verall energy-efficient cnstructin. The Fire Categry Prjects relating t: energy prductin; the use f renewable fuels; energy distributin and transprt; and the efficient and sustainable use f energy in all fields f applicatin. The Water Categry Prjects relating t: the use and prcessing f drinking water; prtectin f waterways; waste water management; and the preservatin f water reserves. The Air Categry Prjects relating t: air pllutin management - indr and utdr; imprving air quality; and verall climate prtectin and the reductin f CO2. 19 Further Infrmatin The Energy Glbe Awards were established in 2000 by Wlfgang Neumann as a Wrld Award fr Sustainability and have becme ne f the mst prestigius and acknwledged envirnmental awards in the wrld. The awards are judged by a grup f experts with representatives frm the UN, UNIDO, Wrld Bank, EREC (Eurpean Renewable Energy Cuncil), Research Institute Seibersdrf, relevant ministries, etc. The finalists are selected by the internatinal Energy Glbe Jury with representatives frm all cntinents, chaired by Maneka Gandhi. Each year ver 700 prjects are submitted by rganisatins acrss the wrld. Submitted prjects are presented in the Energy Glbe database. Applicatin Prcedure Interested applicants must cmplete the applicatin frm and attach the fllwing dcumentatin: A shrt summary f the prject (shuld nt exceed 100 wrds). Minimum f tw high quality pictures f the prjects (suitable fr use in the prject database). A detailed descriptin (apprx. 2 pages f A4), including a time schedule and exact details cncerning the level f implementatin achieved. Half a page f A4 addressing each f the fllwing evaluatin criterins: Prject aims taking int cnsideratin the sustainability and efficiency f the prject. Innvative aspects f the prject taking int accunt the technlgical standards and the circumstances in the regin. Cst/benefit - descriptin f ecnmic and scial aspects. Extended Descriptin The Senirs Alert Scheme prvides grant supprt t supply equipment t allw lder peple withut sufficient means t cntinue t live securely in their hme with cnfidence, independence and peace f mind. It is up t the grups t assess the suitability f individuals wh may receive supprt, against a clear set f criteria. Key Criteria In general: Grups must be cmmunity based, vluntary and nt-fr-prfit rganisatin. Grups will be required t shw evidence that they satisfy these requirements and that they d nt verlap with any wrk f ther grups delivering the scheme. All grups that received and accunted fr a CSOP grant between 2007 and 2010 will be invited t register. Cmmunity grups wishing t participate must register with the Department befre perating the Scheme. Grups wishing t register shuld cntact the Department r dwnlad the registratin applicatin frm frm the website. Applicants will be expected t satisfy all f the fllwing: They must be cmmunity, vluntary and nt-fr-prfit rganisatins. Individuals, private bdies and cmmercial entities (fr prfit) will nt be registered. Have a recgnised structure (parish/cmmunity cmmittee, a cmpany limited by guarantee, nt-fr-prfit c-perative r friendly sciety, registered charity). Demnstrate a track recrd f wrking with r prviding services t lder peple within their cmmunities. Demnstrate ability t manage the grant. Accept the terms and cnditins f the scheme. A persn will be eligible fr grant aid if they are all f the fllwing: Aged 65 years r lder. Of limited means r resurces. Living alne r with anther persn wh meets the eligibility criteria. Restrictins The Department will undertake inspectins t ensure that funds have been prperly used. These will require the cperatin f grups and may cnsist f site visits, dcumentatin review and interviews with grant beneficiaries. Further Infrmatin Cmmunity grups perating the Scheme will be eligible fr a cntributin twards the csts incurred by vlunteers in administering the scheme. Grups receiving public funds fr administrative supprt r service delivery will nt usually be paid this fee.
