Quality utcmes grant funding explained: The Students Unin (SU) allcates a yearly grant fund t be distributed amngst ur registered scieties (including Assciatins), with the purpse f supprting yu with the running, develpment and events f yur grup. This year the funding available is 35,000 which is divided int tw pts: 1. Annual pt fr grups requiring funding fr repeated activities acrss the academic year e.g. caching/tutrs, facility hire. 2. Mnthly pt fr grups requiring funding fr all ther activities. Quality utcmes refers t the predicted benefits t the grup and wider recipients frm receiving this grant funding. Quality utcmes are utlined as the fllwing: Engaging the wider student cmmunity in innvative and targeted ways. Enhancing the student experience by respnding t the feedback f the grups and Student Unin membership. Demnstrating develpment & prgressin thrugh tangible achievements linked t persnal, grup & SU bjectives. Inspiring the student cmmunity thrugh specifically fcused activities & events. Engaging the cmmunity utside f Leicester University s students. Widening participatin utside f Leicester University s students. Stimulating alumni relatins. Encuraging philanthrpic giving. Cllabrating with anther student grup. 1

Whilst we recgnise sme student grups require financial assistance t cntinue t ffer their members an exceptinal experience, this mney shuld nt be slely relied n r expected. Funded items: T receive funding fr the fllwing items, yu will need t demnstrate that yu require them t meet the verall aims and bjectives f yur grup as well as prvide evidence f the amunts required: Equipment fr: Student grup, Event, Prvisins fr running educatinal classes, supprt sessins fr students r external grups. Transprt fr students and guest speakers (ecnmy ptins where pssible): Vehicle hire and insurance, Bus, Taxi, Train, Flights. Accmmdatin will be assessed n a case by case basis, Rm hire: Internal, Audi visual equipment csts including technician, External, Facilities. Tickets t educatinal cnferences, shws, establishments etc. Reusable prmtinal materials (i.e. nt dated). Training and curse fees. 3

Entertainment (if this cannt be prvided by anther relevant student grup e.g. if it is culturally specific): Musician fees, DJ and equipment. Disclsure and Barring Service Checks (if required). 5. Restrictins: Belw is a list f additinal financial supprt that cannt be applied fr. If the event des nt have a beneficial utcme related t the aims and bjectives f the sciety e.g. a scial event that des nt meet the aims and bjectives f the grup. One ff prmtinal materials, as these cannt be reused and dn t abide by ur Green Impact plicy. T purchase persnal items e.g. clthing (including unifrm). T purchase alchl. T use grant funds t pay mney directly twards anther charity i.e. if yu need funds t help yu hld the event e.g. equipment/venue yu can apply fr a grant fund, but cannt apply fr mney directly. If the event/activity is seen t g against Students Unin Cnstitutin and Plicy. Other reasns fr refusal: The applicatin may nt be successful if the sciety: Has nt cntributed any f their wn funds. Is nt charging members enugh. Is selling ticket prices t lw. Has nt cmpleted all f the sectins n the applicatin r has prvided inaccurate infrmatin e.g. budget. 4

Other Burnley fans in the Leicester area will als be infrmed f the event thrugh lcal fan clubs, bringing peple with similar interests tgether and allwing exiled Clarets t unite as ne. At least 30 frm the grup, mst f whm we expect t already be a part f the sciety. This is the first time we have run a ftball turnament, and will bring the grup tgether in a cmpetitive envirnment. Many f the grup are studying business degrees with a view t getting invlved in the ftball business, and the meet and greet with Stan Ternent will enhance these pprtunities. 8

The event is a nn-alchl fcused event, allwing the grup t scialise withut alchl. This turnament will be run as a pilt mainly fr the benefit f ur members, but with a view t running a turnament fr all scieties in the future, which will bring scieties tgether. The talk with Stan will be infrmative and educatinal in the area f ftball management, and the wider student bdy and cmmunity are welcme t jin us t enjy this event. Minrity grups, mature students, pstgraduate students and alumni alike are all welcme t cme alng t the talk - althugh the event is nt targeted specifically at them, it will be f interest t a whle range f peple. Of ur members, we have a high percentage f mature students (40% in ttal), and many f these students will be participating in the turnament. 11 Empwering students t deliver change 6.2 General guidance Yu must demnstrate clearly why yu require this funding and hw it fits int yur aims and bjectives and the Quality Outcme requirements. Yu must prduce a detailed budget t shw all expenditure and incme frm the event/activity and demnstrate the amunt yu will cntribute t these csts, alngside the grant funding mney. Event/activity can als mean equipment r transprt, anything that is essential t the running f the event, but yu must cnsider the mst cst effective methd, e.g. Natinal Express may wrk ut substantially cheaper than a train. 6.3 Budget guidance: Please prvide a breakdwn f the ttal cst f the event; yu need t demnstrate a full understanding f the cst f the event/activity. Yu als need t demnstrate what financial assistance the student grup will prvide t help cver the events csts (d nt assume the grant funding will be allcated t cver all csts). Grant mney that is required prir t the event taking place (i.e. t fund aspects f the event) will need t be apprved by the SET panel. Any additinal csts that appear after yur applicatin fr funding will need t be paid fr via yur fundraising accunt. Yu must be able t prvide invices, qutes and/r receipts fr payment requests. 7. Submitting applicatin: 1. Fr additinal cmpletin guidance su-grantfunds@le.ac.ukr cme in and see us at the Welcme Desk. 2. Aim t have yur applicatin cmpleted in advance (ideally 1 week) in rder fr us t check it ver befre it ges t the panel. 3. Cllate all required supprting evidence (see Sectin 6. Applicatin guidelines ), clearly utline what each dcument is referring t. 4. Refer t the submissin deadline table t ensure yur applicatin is received in the mnth required (please ensure t check the guidelines in Sectin 3. Times t apply n this). 5. Submit applicatin: i. If ing please scan all relevant supprting evidence and include within applicatin. ii. If submitting in persn please prvide all supprting evidence alng with applicatin. 8. SET panel assessment: The SET Panel will review and discuss yur applicatin. 12 Empwering students t deliver change Finally, the figure granted will be dependent n ttal number f successful applicants e.g. the 2000 allcatin fr that mnth will be divided amng all the successful grups t ensure fairness f access t the funds. 9. Successful applicatins and accessing the funds: Results will be prvided t yu within 2 weeks f the grant funding deadline, t allw us t chase up any utstanding infrmatin we may need fr the SET t cnsider yur applicatin and decide a final utcme based after the panel has met. Accessing the funds: The funds d nt autmatically g int yur fundraising accunt; they remain in the scieties grant fund pt until yu require the funds (i.e. need t make payment). T access the funds - prvide a receipt r an invice alng with a withdrawal frm and a cpy f yur Successful result t Unin Activities t sign ff, which will then be prcessed by the Finance department. Please nte: Funds will nly be prvided accrding t yur riginal applicatin i.e. yu cannt spend the funds n anything that was nt agreed by the SET panel. The funds need t be spent n the event/activity agreed, if the funds are left unspent fllwing 4 weeks f this date r there is n cmmunicatin frm yur grup t say yu require lnger, the funds will be returned t the grant fund pt. All grant funds allcated twards events will require grups t cmplete a grant funding reprt frm within fur weeks f the cmpletin f events t prvide feedback n hw the event went and if the bjectives and utcmes were met. 12
