Schools and for-profit entities are not eligible. If a grant is awarded, groups are required to provide 10% in matching funds. As we commemorate his life and duty by unveiling a street sign in his name in front of the First Division he so honorably served. Pothole Blitz 2018 is Here! Pothole Blitz 2018 is officially underway. Public Works crews are moving across the city to patch potholes created by the harsh winter weather. Citizens can help in the blitz by reporting potholes to MetroCall in one of three ways. Those using Twitter can use the hashtag #502pothole. Include the hashtag along with the address or nearest intersection of the pothole location and a photo of the pothole in any tweet. There s also a pothole recording form at the top of the city website Louisvilleky.gov. Click on the Report Pothole link, put in the location information and press send. Of course, citizens may also call Metro call at 311 or

5 Record Expungement and Employment Assistance for Ex-Felons Saturday, March 31 from 10:00am - 12:00pm Spirit of Love Center (4107 West Market Street) The Spirit of Love Center and Goodwill Industries are working in a collaborative effort to help ex-felons gain employment and educate them about getting their records expunged. This will be a forum to share opportunities with the community which involves soft skill training, interviewing techniques, resume writing and job placement. The Goodwill has secured employers who are willing to hire ex-felons. There will also be information shared about how those with class D felonies will be able to get their records expunged. Revitalization/Gentrification Forum Wednesday, April 18th at 5:30pm Louisville Urban League (1535 W. Broadway) Louisville has changed from 10 years ago; neighborhoods with lower than median property values are experiencing a new focus. This is a forum to see how we can: a) bring prosperity and b) protect the current residents so they are not forced out c) preserve neighborhood character. How do we provide guidance and protections to have in place ahead of time? We will have a mix of neighborhood people, developers, Metro Louisville people and even academics. Contact: jcmgaevent@gmail.com Louisville Metro s Funding for the Home Repair Program have been Exhausted Effective Tuesday March 06, 2018: Louisville Metro s funding for the Home Repair program have been exhausted due to an unprecedented volume of applications. As such, the Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) will not accept applications for the Home Repair program until further notice. The Home Repair program uses Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Because of the unusually high number of applicants, applications are unable to be processed until additional funds become available. The CDBG program provides grant assistance to qualified applicants for necessary repairs that protect the health, safety, and welfare of the household and the immediate habitability of the home. 8 Neighborhood House Seeking New Executive Director Neighborhood House is a dynamic nonprofit that provides opportunities, education, and experiences that people need to break the cycle of poverty. Neighborhood House has been located in the Portland community of west Louisville since 1963 and has programs for children as young as six weeks, all the way through to our Four Seasons program for seniors. Last year, they served more than 500 children, ensuring they had access to early childhood education and quality out-of-school time programs. The Neighborhood House is currently searching for its next Executive Director. 9 Free Tax Preparation for Louisville Residents There are free tax preparation sites across Louisville that will provide federal and state income tax assistance to eligible residents VITA and AARP volunteers available at sites across Louisville also will help residents determine eligibility for Earned Income Tax Credit. Louisville Asset Building Coalition's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, or VITA, and AARP Tax Aide programs provide trained, IRS-certified volunteers to offer free tax services at more than 20 sites across the city.
