5 Gracious Professionalism & Customer Service Gracious professionalism is part of pursuing a meaningful life. Woodie Flowers A way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community. Gracious professionals learn and compete like crazy, but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process. Teams and any Championship attendees are customers. Treat them all with Gracious Professionalism. Read the Customer Service Training before the event.

6 Before Arriving: Consent & Release You can sign the Consent and Release Form electronically in your account on Log into your account and select Consent & Release Form from the profile menu in the upper right hand corner. Click Accept at the bottom of the form. We strongly encourage volunteers to fill out the form electronically, but paper copies will be available onsite.

7 General Volunteer Info Volunteer Attire Attire worn by volunteers should be comfortable and volunteer roles should be easily done in attire. Attire should be clean and appropriate. Attire should reflect Gracious Professionalism, please take pride in what you wear. Wi-Fi Availability Wi-Fi for volunteers will be available when and where it is possible, ask at the information desk for more details. Lost & Found Misplaced items will be brought to the information desk and disposed of two weeks after the event.

10 People Mover The People Mover stops on Level 4 of the Cobo Center $0.75 a ride in quarters or you can buy a weekly pass here for $7.50. Must order by April 9th online.

13 Rules Inside All Venues Safety glasses MUST be worn at all times in the fields and pit, non-reflective only, non-tinted. Closed toed shoes must be worn in the team work areas (by volunteers and visitors). Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times while they are at the event. Please be sure to have another responsible adult watch any children in your care. You are not allowed to volunteer while taking care of a child. Please limit phone use to break times.

18 Cobo Center Level 3 Volunteer Central: Rooms 310 A/B, 311 A/B, & 312 A/B Volunteer Central

19 Volunteer Central Volunteer Central is an area designated for FIRST Championship event volunteers to use the day of their shifts on Level 3. Volunteer Café Room 310 A & B Where meals are provided to volunteers on the day of their shift. There will also be raffles and activities for volunteers here. Volunteer Lounge Room 312 A & B A space where volunteers can get away from the crowd and relax during breaks. There are tables, chairs, board games, and laptops with internet available. Volunteer Office Room 311 A & B The office is the base for the Volunteer Resources Department staff during the event.

21 Dietary Needs Process Register dietary preferences in the Experient event registration system. Double check which type of meals you requested. Badges will be marked for special dietary needs. Check in with Volunteer Central Management if you have a need. Menus will be posted the previous morning onsite. We will have the menus available online and in the Championship App two weeks ahead of time.

25 Innovation Faire Innovative! Hands-On! Fun! Open Wed - Fri Join us for a Maker Faire-inspired area featuring FIRST Sponsors, Alliances, Suppliers, Scholarship Providers, and other Special Guests. All FIRST Championship attendees are encouraged to participate in the FIRST Innovation Faire, where attendees can receive exciting giveaways, witness new technology demonstrations, and participate in fun, hands-on activities for all ages. 26 Ford Field - Welcome Party Ford Field will host the FIRST Championship Welcome Party Activities throughout the park - from mainstage acts, to activity booths, LED dancefloor, and roving entertainment. Concessions will be open throughout the stadium. Admission is free to all registered FIRST participants, you must bring your badge. Volunteers are welcome at the Special Invited Guests area for food and drinks at Ford Field on Level 3 starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, :00 9:00 PM

30 Volunteer Information Sources Information Desk There is an information desk located near to Registration that will be able to answer volunteer, event, and city questions. Volunteer Office The Volunteer Office in Volunteer Central is the hub for Volunteer Resources staff. They are able to answer general volunteer questions that you may have. A-Z Guide: Volunteer Addendum This online guide contains most general volunteer information. Pit Admins For program-specific questions, the Pit Admins located in each of the four program areas should be able to answer your questions for their program. Championship Website and App

31 Main Point of Contact FIRST Robotics Competition Volunteer Coordinators Assigned to Pits & Fields These individuals are your go-to contact (Point Person) throughout the event and will manage your breaks. They are wearing light blue polo shirts. Touch base with your Point Person before leaving for the day. If you have a question on site ask them first! You may also be managed by a lead volunteer (I.e. Head Ref, Lead Queuer, Lead Robot Inspector, etc) who will guide you through your role.

32 Main Point of Contacts FIRST Tech Challenge Vince Frascella, Volunteer Coordinator Contact prior to event or off-hours via During the event (or if going to be late/absent), please refer to you pre-event information . Please include your first and last name, role, and message. During the event, Vince (wearing light blue Volunteer Coordinator shirt) will be circulating between the Pits and the Fields You will also have a Lead Volunteer (e.g., Head Referee, Judge Advisor, Field Manager, Pit Admin Lead) who will provide you with support, as needed. Touch base with the Lead Volunteer, or Vince, at day s end to be sure of your start time for the next day. If unable to see or text Vince at the event, touch base with Pit Admin. They will always know how to get in contact.

35 Incidents & Emergencies In case of an incident which should be reported (medical or non-medical), go to Pit Admin. Incident report forms are located at Pit Admin locations. Non-medical incidents can include any type of conflict or inappropriate behavior that is worth noting. In case of an emergency, please evacuate with the teams and guests!
