2 Save My Care Bus Family Health Centers: Portland Portland Avenue Saturday, January 28th at 11:00 am Save My Care Bus is part of a cross country bus tour, to tell the stories of the 30 million Americans whose health care will be ripped away if Congress continues with its plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA). 5 City's External Agency Fund Applications Now Open Grants available to social services and arts and creative industry organizations NON-PROFIT Organizations encouraged to apply! February 10th Deadline Approaching! Louisville Metro Government will begin accepting External Agency Fund applications today, Friday, January 13, 2017 for FY18 Budget Year (July 1, June 30, 2018). These General Funded grants are awarded to non-governmental, or "external agencies, that contribute to the city's cultural, social and economic vitality. All agencies wishing to submit an application are required to have at least one representative participate in a mandatory application orientation. The mandatory orientation is available on the External Agency Fund (EAF) website at The orientation will provide information about the deadlines, how to access the application and general information about the application. The grants are available for Social Services programs, administered by the Louisville Metro Department of Community Services (LMCS), and for Arts and Creative Industries programs, administered by the Louisville Metro Department of Economic Development. The External Agency Funds are awarded annually to non-profit organizations offering programs or services in Louisville/Jefferson County that align with the Mayor's and departments' strategic goals. Applications will be reviewed by two External Agency Fund panels, which include Metro Council members and community members, and those recommendations will be included in Mayor Fischer s Recommended FY18 Metro budget. For the Social Services funding program, qualified non-profits committed to providing services that achieve meaningful outcomes for Louisville citizens in the following key areas are encouraged to apply: Decreasing homelessness Increasing household financial stability Increasing youth, teen, and/or young adult engagement in quality programming; or Increasing access to services and resources for a targeted population. For the Arts and Creative Industries funding program, non-profits committed to providing arts and cultural attractions and opportunities to the Louisville community are encouraged to apply. Eligible arts and creative industries organizations should demonstrate how a program supports the following primary focus areas of Mayor Fischer's Strategic Plan: Economic development initiatives related to arts and creative industries Creative place making and arts-based programs in neighborhoods that have experienced disinvestment Opportunities for citizens to access and engage with visual, performing and other arts experiences Louisville Metro Government employs a competitive granting strategy and strives to award funding to agencies that demonstrate measurable positive impact in the community and are good stewards of taxpayer dollars. Successful grantees will be required to report on their success in meeting goals and outcomes. THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION IS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10TH 2017 BY 5 P.M. 6 City's HUD Entitlement Funds Applications Being Accepted CDBG, ESG and HOPWA grants included Louisville Metro Government is now accepting applications from local non-profits for programs or activities funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for FY18 (July 1, June 30, 2018). HUD-funded grants include the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA). These grants are administered locally by Louisville Metro Community Services, and guided by a 5-year strategic Consolidated Plan as well as the annual Action Plan. Community Services FY18 FY20 Goals are: End chronic homelessness; End homelessness for families and youth; Serve homeless and low-income persons with HIV/AIDS CDBG Public Service funds per the annual Action Plan may be used for activities which include, but are not limited to: Employment Services (e.g. job training) Child care Health services Substance abuse services (e.g. counseling and treatment) Fair housing counseling Education programs Services for homeless persons The ESG funds per the annual Action Plan may be used for activities which include, but are not limited to: Engaging homeless individuals and families living on the street; Improving the number and quality of emergency shelters for homeless individuals and families; Helping operate these shelters; Providing essential services to shelter residents; Rapidly re-house homeless individuals and families; and Preventing families and individuals from becoming homeless. HOPWA funds per the annual Action Plan may be used for activities which include, but are not limited to: Costs for facility operations; Rental assistance; and Short-term payments to prevent homelessness. CDBG, ESG, and HOPWA sub-recipients will go through a competitive funding process(es). Any groups representing persons of low and moderate incomes may request technical assistance from Louisville Metro to help in their preparation of an application for funding. The method with which to request technical assistance shall be included as part of the request for funding applications. The funding decision-making process will also be outlined in the request for funding applications. Once sub-recipients and projects have been approved, Louisville Metro Government will review the list to determine if a technical correction of the information is needed or a substantial amendment is required. The deadline to submit an application is Friday, February 17, 2017 by 5 p.m. To gain access to the application, visit Applications will be reviewed by an initial internal panel and recommendations will be presented to a larger panel composed of Louisville Metro Council members and outside agencies for approval. Recommendations will be made for inclusion in the FY18 Louisville Metro budget. On Sundays, February 5th, 19th and 26th, Kentucky African Americans Against Cancer will host Educational Programs to Increase Colorectal Screenings at Immaculate Heart of Mary, located at 1545 Louis Coleman Jr Drive at 10:30 am. 8 Rental Registry for Rental Properties in Metro Louisville is now up and running Online Do You Own Rental Property in Louisville Metro? The deadline to register property is March 1, 2017 A new Rental Registry for all rental property in Metro Louisville is now up and running online. Effective March 1, 2017, all property located in Louisville Metro and occupied or offered for occupancy in exchange for money or any other consideration must be registered with Louisville Metro Government. Failure to register is subject to a fine up to $100 per day per housing unit. The registration calls for: Rental property owners to include the rental unit street address. List current contact information of the owner and managing operator. New owners to register within thirty days of any ownership transfer. Any change in contact information to be updated on the registry within thirty days of the change. Visit: to establish an account and access the registry, or to get detailed information and instructions on registry requirements. Registration is free and will be monitored by the staff of Develop Louisville. The need for the Rental Registry was prompted after concerns were raised by code enforcement inspectors, citing the difficulty in finding a person who was responsible for the problem properties. Currently, some listings have only a Post Office Box number or LLC as contacts in the event of a violation. The Kentucky Center for African American Heritage (KCAAH) awarded $10,000 from the Jennifer Lawrence Arts Fund at Fund for the Arts Fund for the Arts announced the selection of nine arts-based projects that will expand the capacity of Greater Louisville cultural providers to reach new audiences and invest in innovation. The Kentucky Center for African American Heritage (KCAAH) was awarded $10,000 from the Jennifer Lawrence Arts Fund at Fund for the Arts, for a project titled "Telling Our Tales: Plays From West Louisville." KCAAH is halfway toward meeting their goal to raise $20,000 for the project and is in need of your help in making a difference to "Telling Our Tales: Plays From West Louisville."
