All applicants must be present frm 9:00 am until the winners are annunced, which will be that afternn. Interviews are with a panel f judges nt affiliated with the Battleship Cmmissin and will last 8-10 minutes. Yu will nt be judged n USS ALABAMA Battleship histry, Alabama r Mbile histry. Applicants are judged n applicatin infrmatin, pise, appearance, and persnality. Cmplete applicatin packet must be returned n later than 4:00 PM, Mnday, FEBRUARY 26, Include character/persnal references with this infrmatin if yu s desire r they can be ed t lprice@ussalabama.cm. 10 USS ALABAMA CREWMATE PROGRAM RULES & REGULATIONS The fllwing rules and regulatins have been adpted by the USS ALABAMA Battleship Cmmissin gverning the Crewmate prgram. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND SIGN. The signed rules and regulatins sheets must be included in yur applicatin packet. 1 - Applicants must have reached their 19th birthday by March 27, 2018 and must nt have reached their 22nd birthday by same date. 2 - Applicants must be single, must nt have r ever have had children, must have never been married, and must have a high schl diplma r GED certificate. N visible tatts r bdy piercings (ther than ne set fr earrings) when in unifrm. If chsen, the same prvisins apply thrughut the Crewmate term. 3 - Crewmates are required t reside/live in Mbile r Baldwin cunties during their tenure because they must be n call t the Cmmissin t carry ut their duties and assignments. 4 - All requests fr Crewmates and all assignments MUST be thrugh the Battleship Office. N Crewmate is t wear the unifrm r attend any functin withut the Crewmate Crdinatr's apprval. All unifrms and fficial travel expenses will be prvided by the Battleship Cmmissin. 5 - The USS ALABAMA Battleship Cmmissin reserves the right t cntrl all CREWMATE ASSIGNMENTS at their wn discretin. 6 - Assignments f Crewmates include: attending receptins, cnventins, r meetings t prmte Battleship Memrial Park; welcming visitrs t the city r state; welcme grups abard the Battleship; attend lunchens, dinners, and civic functins; ribbn-cutting ceremnies; mixing, mingling, and smiling!! All fficial functins and travel cmpletely chaperned by Battleship persnnel. 7 - Yu will be called n many times during the year. Every effrt is made t ntify Crewmates as far in advance as pssible, but smetimes there is nly a day s ntice. Every cnsideratin will be shwn Crewmates and it is expected the Crewmates will shw the Cmmissin equal cnsideratin. Crewmates are expected t make all assignments r btain an excuse prir t assignment. Yu must always be n time!

11 PAGE 2 RULES & REGULATIONS 8 - The USS ALABAMA Battleship Cmmissin will make every effrt nt t interfere with yur educatin r emplyment, but sme time will be required away frm bth t perfrm Battleship duties. It is expected that yu will discuss yur participatin in this civic endeavr with yur supervisr/teacher. We will nt make unnecessary requests f yur time, but there will be sme assignments during wrking hurs, schl hurs and it is imprtant that yu discuss this pprtunity with yur supervisrs/prfessrs befre accepting the hnr f being a Crewmate. 9 - While it is nt frbidden, we ask that yu nt hld r seek ther titles during the year yu are serving as a Crewmate. If yu d, and it interferes with yur accepting assignments frm the Battleship Cmmissin, yu will be asked t resign and frfeit yur schlarship. 10- If the Battleship Cmmissin finds that yu are nt fully participating as a Crewmate, yu will be asked t withdraw and frfeit yur schlarship. 11- If yu are selected as a Crewmate, yu must use all yur schlarship funds by September 30th f the year fllwing yur selectin. Fr this cntest, the deadline is September 30, All schlarship funds nt used by that date will be frfeited. 12- Judging - The selectin f Crewmates and the final selectin f titlehlders will be accmplished in the fllwing manner: A. All applicants will have an 8-10 minute interview with a panel f judges abard the Battleship. The interview will be based primarily using the infrmatin included in the candidate s applicatin. B. Six candidates will be selected by the panel f judges as Crewmates by secret ballt and annunced t all candidates after all interviews have been cmpleted. C. It is at the judge s discretin t request a secnd interview. The crewmates will be interviewed, ne at a time, fr a five-minute perid. This interview will assist in the judges chice f Miss USS ALABAMA and Miss USS DRUM. D. There will be a training perid fr the six new Crewmates. During this time the selectees are expected t familiarize themselves with the Battleship ALABAMA, Submarine DRUM, the State f Alabama, and in-state turism attractins. Materials will be prvided and a test given. Scres will be used in final titlehlder selectins. E. The prcess t select titlehlders will include the interview, the judges selectin, examinatin, and the attendance reprt.

12 PAGE 3 RULES & REGULATIONS 13 - Schlarship The fllwing is a schedule fr disbursement f schlarship funds: A. $1,000 will be paid t cllege/university six mnths int yur ne year term. B. Balance f schlarship will be paid t cllege/university at the end f yur ne year term r by September 30, The Battleship Cmmissin will make all assignments. The Cmmissin reserves the right t select a particular Crewmate fr a particular assignment. Recrds will be kept n all activities and when an assignment cmes alng that is cnsidered special, it will be given t the Crewmate wh has wrked the mst assignments, been n time, maintained the best attitude, etc. The decisin will be the sle decisin f Battleship persnnel. BEING A CREWMATE REQUIRES, MANY TIMES DURING YOUR TERM, MAKING PUBLIC APPEARANCES IN SUPPORT OF USS ALABAMA BATTLESHIP MEMORIAL PARK, THE CITY OF MOBILE, AND THE STATE OF ALABAMA. MANY CREWMATE ASSIGNMENTS ARE IN TOWN, SOME OUT OF TOWN AND OVERNIGHT, SOME ON THE WEEKEND, AND MANY DURING THE WEEKDAY. WE SHALL MAKE NO GREATER DEMANDS UPON YOUR TIME THAN ARE NECESSARY FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF THE CUSTOMARY DUTIES OF THE TITLE YOU HOLD.
