It s been 20 years since it all began at the Derrick Inn in Ness City, Ks and we are ready to reminisce. Approximately 70 participants attended (in a room for 50), and it was soon decided to move the seminar to., where it has been held for the past 18 years. And again this year, it will be held in Hays, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the event. If you ve been around since the beginning or if you are new to the area, we d love to see you. There will be several opportunities to visit with the participants and vendors, as well as obtaining 12 hours of CRCE The Kansas Respiratory Care Society s CEU evaluator has approved this program for a total of 12 Hours of CRCE, eight hours the first day, and four hours the second day. AARC CRCE approval pending. The Kansas State Board of Nursing approves a s a Provider of continuing nursing education. This course is approved for 12 contact hours applicable for RN or LPN relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing approved provider Number: LT Thursday program will provide 8 CEUs with Friday s program providing 4 CEUs All participants are required to sign in each morning and afternoon sessions. You can pick up your certificates of attendance at the conclusion of the seminar. Prorated CRCEs may be obtained each day for those participants leaving prior to the end of the seminar. SEMINAR OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this seminar, the participant will be able to: 1. Discuss the symptoms, signs, diagnosis, and treatment of Restless Leg Syndrome. 2. Identify, discuss, assess changes and interventions in the elderly patient in respiratory distress or common respiratory diseases 3. Discuss and deal with the manifestations and complications of Sleep Apnea. 4. Discuss the indication for diagnostic tool, management options, and complications of facial/nasal masks in treating with Sleep Apnea. 5. Explain the theories regarding asthma development and the theories of pathophysiologic pathways for both allergic and non allergic asthma. 6. Discuss the hygiende hypothesis theory. 7. Explain the importance of IgE in the development of asthma and the new therapies designed to address this issue, 8. Discuss the physician s role in the diagnosis and referral for PVCM, PVCM s triggers and evolutionary priorities of laryngeal action and the breathing, hydration and exercise in controlling PVCM. 9. Describe the differences between ETCO2 & VCO2 and explain the relationship between VCO2 & PaCO2 10. Outline the clinical application of VCO2 for ventilator management and discuss the clinical application of MValv & Vd/Vt 11. Assess a patient s willingness to quit smoking and assist patient listing key issues and the National Cancer Institute's 5 A s 12. Describe the demographics/health issues related to elderly Americans, articulate their benefits of addressing medication use, and explain the roles of the physicians/health care providers in helping decrease the cost of medications for them. 13. Discuss Breath Activated Nebulizers, their purpose, effectiveness and cost and how this all applies to staff shortages and burnout among therapists. 14. Be educated in our role as RTs in the disaster response and the opportunities for RT in the disaster response field. 15. Identify the need for refueling, the tools needed for refueling them selves and others. And how to utilize these tools. 16. Discuss the impact of key legislative/regulatory activities on the profession of Respiratory Care
