2 Course Information Course Overview This one-day conference for hearing healthcare professionals will address fostering wellness for patients and families with hearing loss as well as providers in pediatric audiology. Presentation topics will include social competence, promoting self-advocacy, supporting healthy peer relationships and encouraging community connections, along with professional development tools to improve patient outcomes and manage work-life balance. Multidisciplinary case studies highlighting patients and families who have utilized services beyond diagnostic testing and technology will also be discussed. General Information The conference will be held in the Ruth and Tristram Colket, Jr. Translational Research Building on the Raymond G. Perelman Campus of The Children s Hospital of Philadelphia. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, March 4, Course Objectives Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: 1. List three tools to promote self-advocacy in children with hearing loss 2. Define social competence and describe two tools used to promote social competence in children with hearing loss 3. Explain the social dynamics of bullying 4. Develop a professional learning plan for improvement of patient outcomes Continuing Education The Children s Hospital of Philadelphia is approved by the American Academy of Audiology to offer Academy CEUs for this activity. The program is worth a maximum of.65 CEUs. Academy approval of this continuing education activity is based on course content only and does not imply endorsement of course content, specific products or clinical procedure, or adherence of the event to the Academy s Code of Ethics.
