THE ROTARY FOUNDATION PREP CHECKLIST Start by saying smething like this: The Rtary Fundatin is unique in that Rtarians nt nly cntribute dllars, but it is als Rtarians wh determine hw the funds will be used and wh are invlved in carrying ut grants and prgrams. Gd stewardship f the funds dnated is a hallmark f ur Fundatin and it is rated as a tp-ntch charitable rganizatin. This year marks the 100th year f ur Rtary Fundatin, 100 years f Ding Gd in the Wrld. The wrk we d as Rtarians thrugh ur Fundatin prvides numerus Public mage pprtunities and pens drs fr membership grwth and engagement. Pint ut the brief sheet that has been prvided t the attendees, and highlight these backgrund items, briefly adding infrmatin as nted: Annual Fund SHARE and the District Designated Fund (DDF) Fr DDF, yu culd briefly state yur District s matches fr Glbal and District Grants and any dllar limits fr grants f DDF. (If yu district has a Reference Guide (by whatever name) fr grants, prvide cpies t the attendees. District Grants Cite examples f ne r tw District Grants frm last year. 4 ORS Brief Sheet BW.dcx Brief Sheet n The Rtary Fundatin Service Abve Self the mtt f Rtary Internatinal Ding Gd in the Wrld the mtt f The Rtary Fundatin f Rtary Internatinal Centennial Year This year we celebrate the 100 th Anniversary f ur Rtary Fundatin. Annual Fund-SHARE and the District Designated Fund (DDF) The Annual Fund-SHARE is the primary surce f funding fr a brad range f lcal and internatinal activities made pssible thrugh The Rtary Fundatin. Funds are invested in the year given and fr tw mre Rtary years (July-June). The earnings are used t supprt the administrative csts f the Fundatin and in year fur the entire amunt dnated is split with 50% ging t the Wrld Fund and 50% t the district via the District Designated Fund (DDF). The Wrld Fund is used by the Fundatin t pay fr the wrldwide grant and prgram pprtunities available t all Rtary districts. DDF supprting a Glbal Grant (see item belw) is matched dllar fr dllar, and cash cntributins are matched 50 cents n the dllar by the Wrld Fund. Each district uses its DDF t fund grants and Rtary Fundatin prgrams f its chice. Up t ne-half f the DDF may be used fr District Grants (see item belw). Every Rtarian is encuraged t give t the Annual Fund every year. Endwment Previusly knwn as the Permanent Fund, the Endwment is used t prvide lng term stability t the funding f Fundatin activities. Dnatins t the Endwment are invested in perpetuity and nly the incme is used fr activities supprted by The Rtary Fundatin. Areas f Fcus The Areas f Fcus fr Rtary and The Rtary Fundatin are: Peace and Cnflict Preventin/Reslutin Disease Preventin and treatment Water and Sanitatin Maternal and Child Health Basic Educatin and Literacy Ecnmic and cmmunity Develpment. District Grants District Grants enable clubs and districts t address needs in lcal cmmunities and abrad. Districts may request up t 50 percent f the District Designated Fund t be used fr District Grant prjects. Districts establish rules fr these grants, including such matters as dllar amunts that can be requested and the timing fr submitting prpsals and applicatins. Glbal Grants Glbal Grants ffer clubs and districts pprtunities t participate in strategically fcused, high-impact activities. These grants fund large-scale internatinal prjects in ne f mre f Rtary s Areas f Fcus. They must have a minimum ttal budget f $30,000 and in sme cases a higher amunt depending n District rules.

5 PliPlus/End Pli Nw Pli eradicatin is Rtary s tp philanthrpic pririty. In the year that Rtary launched the PliPlus prgram wrldwide, there were mre than 350,000 pli cases in ver 125 cuntries. In 2015, there were 71 new cases in nly tw cuntries. Clubs are encuraged t give $1,500 r mre per Rtary year t PliPlus, with thse funds primarily cming frm cmmunity-based fundraisers. Individual cntributins frm Rtarians are als mst welcme. This Rtary Fundatin Centennial year, Clubs that cntribute $2,650 t PliPlus will have met ne f the three needed achievements ut f six pssible in the Fundatin Giving sectin t qualify fr the club t receive the Presidential Citatin. Peace Fellws Rtary Peace Fellwships are funded entirely thrugh the Wrld Fund and enable individuals t pursue a graduate degree in peace and cnflict preventin and reslutin at ne f five university centers arund the wrld. Als, fr experienced prfessinals wrking in peace-related fields wh want t enhance their prfessinal skills, there is a three-mnth prgram in peace and cnflict preventin and reslutin at Chulalngkrn University in Thailand. Schlarships Schlarships can be funded by District Grants r Glbal Grants. District Grant Schlarships have n restrictins n the educatinal level f the schlarship, duratin f the prgram, r field f study. Districts develp their wn criteria fr selecting schlars and determine the amunt f the awards. There is n internatinal requirement fr District Grant Schlarships. Glbal Grant Schlarships supprt graduate level study related t ne f the Areas f Fcus. The schlar must study utside f his r her hme cuntry. District Rtary Fundatin Cmmittee (DRFC) Each district has a District Rtary Fundatin Cmmittee. Pursuant t Rtary Fundatin requirements, the members include the District Rtary Fundatin Cmmittee Chair (DRFCC), and subcmmittee chairs respnsible fr PliPlus, Stewardship, Grants, and Fundraising. The District Gvernr is a member f this cmmittee, and there can be ther subcmmittee chairs wh are members f the DRFC, depending n the district leadership structure.
