2 UNICA S FOUR GOALS FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR Sharing, learning, adding value: increasing the quality f UNICA events Sharing, learning, adding value are the 3 gals that lie behind each and every meeting rganized by UNICA. T make sure that they crrespnd with the expectatins and needs f the members and t further enhance their quality, UNICA cnducts evaluatin questinnaires in which the participants can express their pinin abut the event s general rganizatin, cntent, and frmat, and make suggestins fr the future meetings. In the academic year 2012/2013, evaluatin surveys have been carried ut fr 10 UNICA meetings, twice mre than in the previus year. On average, 86,6% f respndents evaluated the quality f the meetings' cntent as gd r very gd, and 80% declared that they wuld use the gained knwledge in their institutins. T add detail t the received feedback and cncrete suggestins, UNICA rganizes preparatry meetings with the members f UNICA Wrking Grups in rder t discuss imprvements and decide upn the next events frmats, prgrammes, main thematic tracks, and cntributrs. Next year, we plan t fster discussins nline thrugh the use f LinkedIn grups. UNICA participatin charts are an imprtant surce infrmatin bth fr UNICA and its individual members. The new participatin charts have been enriched with new statistics and graphs (i.e. the participatin f a given University in UNICA events accrding t clusters) and their visual (nline) representatin will be further imprved next year. 2. Shaping plicies & recmmendatins UNICA ffers its members a platfrm fr dialgue n the demands f strategic change in higher educatin and aims t articulate their views and recmmendatins. While supprting its member universities in the implementatin f their new plicies and strategies, the Netwrk itself develps guidelines and recmmendatins. Fllwing the UNICA membership plicy, UNICA equal pprtunities plicy, UNICA plicy n internal cmmunicatin, UNICA plicy fr prjects, and the UGAF Pledge, the Criteria fr engagements utside the Eurpean area dcument, being a UNICA Steering Cmmittee s respnse t 2 UNICA UNICA Wrk Prgramme 2013/2014

3 trends reflected in the Eurpean Cmmissin plicy dcument Eurpean Higher Educatin in the Wrld (July 2013), will be discussed at the UNICA General Assembly Cmmunicatin within the Netwrk: making the cmplex simpler Effective cmmunicatin is key fr the UNICA members t stay updated and interested in the Netwrk s activities and a requisite fr prmting UNICA and its members externally. UNICA cntinues t seek new ways t smth the path f the infrmatin flw between the UNICA Secretariat and the UNICA members In this cntext, the new UNICA nline database will prvide a substantial imprvement fr cmmunicating updates and changes in the member universities data. With the prliferatin f scial media and new nline tls, cmmunicatin channels are multiplying. This is why, withut resigning frm traditinal means such as mailings and quarterly newsletters, UNICA will prvide alternative cmmunicatin channels fr scial media users. Event annuncements and imprtant news will be shared n UNICA Facebk and LinkedIn pages, and UNICA members will have an pprtunity t discuss different tpics f interest thrugh LinkedIn Grups. The number f UNICA website s visitrs rse frm 6,000 t 11,000 per mnth in abut ne year. Hwever, the appearance f new technlgies and the changing trends in web design d nt allw us t stand still. The redesigning f the UNICA website planned fr the years will increase its functinality fr the members with nline participatin charts and member-nly intranet cmpnents. The new website will have an imprved navigatin and dwnlad ptins and will be integrated with scial media. As in the previus academic year, UNICA Secretariat staff will fllw training curses aimed at imprving their knwledge f the latest trends in web cmmunicatins and skills in cmmunicatins & graphic sftware. 4. Enhancing UNICA s visibility Psitining the Netwrk as an imprtant stakehlder in the Eurpean Higher Educatin Area is ne f the cre tasks f UNICA. In the academic year UNICA Wrk Prgramme 2013/2014 3

4 2013/2014, we will cntinue t enhance the presence f the Netwrk n the Eurpean and glbal scene by participating in and implementing the EC-funded prjects. At the same time, cnvinced that by wrking tgether we can d (and demnstrate) mre, we will wrk tgether with ther Higher Educatin actrs. With Eurpean University Assciatin (EUA), UNICA will cllabrate in the cntext f the Arab-Eur University Cnference n Higher Educatin and cntinue ur cperatin with the EUA Cuncil f Dctral Educatin (EUA-CDE) in the framewrk f the UNICA PhD MASTER CLASS. Tgether with Cimbra Grup f Brazilian Universities and the Organizatin f the American States, UNICA will pursue a capacity building prject. Likewise, we will pursue ur cllabratin with ur lng-standing partners, Santander Grup, Cmpstela Grup, and Schlars At Risk. Raising visibility f the Netwrk means als cntributing t the visibility f activities f its individual members. Next year, in the framewrk f the IMOTION prject funded by the Eurpean Cmmissin, UNICA will ffer its members an nline platfrm t prmte their staff training weeks and ther staff mbility schemes. Early next year, the launch f the UNICA Summer & Winter Schls prtal will ffer a new prmtin tl fr the UNICA universities summer and winter prgrammes.
