TUTORSPACE TutorSpace is a free study session with specialist tutors to help our students write an assessment, begin a project, learn basic IT skills or just to build your confidence in areas you need help with. These sessions run at various times and days during the week throughout the school year and are located at the Bendigo TAFE City campus library. Visit our friendly library staff for more information. STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES TEAM Bendigo TAFE s student support services provide free and confidential services to students across all campuses with the aim of facilitating a positive learning environment for all. 10 PAYING FOR YOUR COURSE How much you pay is determined by the course you enrol in, the scheduled hours you commit to undertake, your eligibility for a government-funded place and any concession entitlements you might be eligible for. PART PAYMENT PLANS Part payment plans are available to anyone enrolling into a certificate course. Bendigo TAFE offers eligible students the option of paying their course fees over time. Weekly or fortnightly instalment payments are set up to cover tuition, materials and consumables. Find out more at bendigotafe.edu.au/ courses/fees-and-charges HEALTH CARE CARD If you are eligible for a Health Care Card, make sure you apply for one through Centrelink prior to enrolling as you may be eligible to pay concession fees. We offer a number of scholarships and grants to help pay for your course. Find out more on what you can apply for at bendigotafe.edu.au/students STUDY NOW, PAY LATER WITH VET STUDENT LOANS A student loan scheme is available for eligible students and courses to assist in the payment of tuition fees whilst studying at TAFE. These are called VET Student Loans and replace the VET FEE-HELP scheme from 1 January Loans are capped according to the course you are studying. These loans are income contingent and interest free and repaid via the Australian Taxation Office when your income reaches a certain threshold. For income year this threshold is $54,869. For further information visit studyassist.gov.au You will still have to pay the student services fee, materials and consumables fee (if studying a government funded course) and other non-tuition fees (if applicable) at the time of enrolment. To be eligible for a VET Student Loan, you must be an Australian citizen; or a holder of a permanent humanitarian visa who will be a resident in Australia for the duration of the course; or a qualifying New Zealand citizen

11 HOW TO APPLY Applying for a course is easy. Just follow these simple steps to get your application in. Make sure you check your course dates and apply early so we can enrol you in the next intake. We will review your application and will contact you directly to confirm your application status. Most courses commence at the start of semesters one and two, but there are some courses which take enrolments at any time throughout the year, referred to as rolling enrolments. 12 COMMUNITY SERVICES CERTIFICATE IV IN COMMUNITY SERVICES Course code CHC42015 Direct entry / Enrolments taken in Semester one and two This qualification reflects the role of community service workers who design and deliver person-centred services to individuals and/or groups. Workers may provide support, advocacy or interventions to individual clients, groups or communities across a range of services. Full-time: 2 days per week on campus for 6 months. This diploma qualification provides skills for people who work in roles that usually involve service delivery, either direct client work and/ or community education or development projects. Bendigo TAFE in partnership with La Trobe University offers a dual enrolment program that enables students to complete a diploma and relevant degree at the same time. Our Diploma of Community Services (CHC52015) articulates into the Bachelor of Community Services at La Trobe University. Full-time: 2 days per week on campus delivery, over 18 months. Includes 400 hours mandatory work placement. Pre-training interview and successful completion of a Literacy, Language and Numeracy assessment (LLN). FURTHER STUDY OPTIONS Further studies are available in social work or human services at TAFE and University levels. Graduates of the Diploma of Community Services are eligible for credits in the Bachelor of Human Services/Masters of Social Work and Bachelor of Education at La Trobe University and the Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University. 13 COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVANCED DIPLOMA OF COMMUNITY SECTOR MANAGEMENT Course code CHC62015 Direct entry / Semester one and two This new and innovative qualification reflects the role of workers who are middle managers or managers across a range of community sector organisations. This qualification would be ideal for managers who work in Community Services and Development, disability, Early Childhood and Aged Care. At this level, workers have a responsibility for planning and monitoring service delivery, recruitment and performance management of employees, risk management and continuous improvement within the organisation. Part time over 12 months Pre-training interview and completion of a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment. It would be beneficial for the student to be employed or have relevant workplace experience at a management or supervisory role. Delivery combines work experience and structured training to competently and safely assist the dental professional during oral health care procedures. 15 HEALTH CERTIFICATE III IN HEALTH SERVICES ASSISTANCE Course code HLT33115 Direct entry / semester one This qualification provides training for workers to provide assistance to health professional staff with the care of clients and involves the worker in direct client contact under supervision. This qualification supports multiskilling requirements of smaller and rural work/remote work settings and may also be undertaken as a traineeship. Full-time: days on campus per week over 23 weeks. Including 80 hours of mandatory work placement Aged at least 18 years; Pre-Training interview and Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment. FURTHER STUDY OPTIONS Further studies with a Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (HLT43015). This qualification allows graduates to work as an Assistant in Nursing, a Health Services Assistant or a Personal Care Worker (PCW). A police check and Working with Children Check must be obtained prior to undertaking work placement. 16 HEALTH CERTIFICATE IV IN ALLIED HEALTH ASSISTANCE Course code HLT43015 Direct entry / Enrolments taken semester one This qualification is aimed at training workers who support allied health professionals such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Participants undertake physiotherapy and occupational therapy skill sets, as well as a cluster of units to cover strength training and recreational programs for older persons. Full-time: 2 evenings on campus per week over one year. Course includes a minimum of 120 hours of mandatory work placement Aged at least 18 years, Pre-Training interview and Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment FURTHER STUDY OPTIONS Students who successfully complete this program are eligible for guaranteed entry into the Bachelor of Health Sciences at La Trobe University. Graduates of this qualification can find employment as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physiotherapy Assistant, Therapy Assistant or Allied Health Assistant.
