1 CHC30113 Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care Accreditation TRY Learning is a Registered Training Organization (RTO Number 21053) under the Australian Skills Quality Authority. This training program is nationally accredited and recognized at Certificate III standard (level 3) under the Australian Qualification Framework. Delivery Mode Course Duration Course Structure Pre-requisites Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is delivered face to face in the classroom and at the workplace through workplace based training and School Based Traineeship. Course duration varies depending upon the needs, qualifications, knowledge & skills of each student. Clients new to the Early Childhood Education and Care industry Anticipated course duration is 37 weeks, two days per week face to face training sessions, with 240 hours of work placement in an approved and regulated early childhood education and care service. School Based Traineeship Program Anticipated course duration is 12 months, one day per week face to face training sessions, with 240 hours of work placement in an approved and regulated early childhood education and care service. School based trainees are required to work in a regulated early childhood education and care service for 1 day per week. Clients already working in the industry Course duration is 53 weeks, one day per week face to face training sessions, with 240 hours of work placement in an approved and regulated early childhood education and care service. This course is also available through workplace based training and is generally completed over 13 months. Students are required to complete 15 core and 3 elective units as listed on the next page. Applicants are required to meet the following conditions under this training program, before being admitted into this course. General Entry requirements - Students must be Australian Citizen/permanent residents. Temporary visa holders may be accepted for enrolment provided they have study rights in Australia. Valid documentation will be required to meet this condition i.e. Medicare card, copy of visa grant letter, passport etc. - Students must be able to speak, read and write English. This will be assessed through a Language Literacy and Numeracy assessment. Assessors will make a judgement based on the Australian Core Skills Framework to assess if a student is to be accepted for enrolment and if any support strategies are to be adopted. - Students must hold working with children check, or have applied for the check - Student must demonstrate that the training program meets their aspirations, ambitions and career objectives. Training Mode Specific Entry requirements A) 37 weeks (2day per week) training program - There are no other specific entry requirements. 2 B) 53 weeks (1day per week) training program - Applicants currently working in the Early Childhood Education and care must be able to provide evidence that they have children of varying age under their care. A Children s details form must be submitted. Evidence of current employment is required i.e. letter from the employer and a copy of job description. C) workplace based training delivery - Applicants who want to undertake this course in the workplace, must be able to provide evidence of their current employment in long day care D) School Based traineeship program - Applicants must be currently undertaking year 11 or year 12 in a Victorian Secondary School and be registered as a trainee through Australian Apprenticeship Support Network. Career Outcomes Education Pathways Graduates of this course can work in early childhood education and care facilities as educators who will be assisting in designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. Graduates of this program will have required knowledge/ understanding on how to implement approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. Training Arrangements This training program is delivered in the classroom and at the workplace. a) New entrants Training will be delivered through face to face classes over 2 days per week (or 4 sessions per week) for 37 weeks, excluding public holidays. An Assessor will visit the student at workplace to support learning and to undertake program to assist in determining that the required competency standards have been achieved b) Existing workers Classroom based delivery Training will be delivered through face to face classes over 1 day per week (or 2 sessions per week) for 53 weeks, excluding public holidays. Assessor will visit the student at workplace to support learning and to undertake program. Workplace based delivery Training will be delivered through face to face session (3 hours per month) at the workplace over 12 months. Trainer/assessor will conduct one visit per month to deliver the training and to undertake workplace observations. In addition students will be required to complete hours of self-study each month which may involve reading their text books, discussing their work with trainer/assessor and/or workplace supervisor, and completing assessment tasks such as projects and developing their portfolios. 4 Assessor will visit the student at workplace to support learning and to undertake observation assessment. There will be minimum 18 visits throughout the training program. c) School Based Trainees Training will be delivered through face to face classes over 1 day per week (or 2 sessions per week) for 37 weeks, excluding public holidays. Students will be working as a school based trainee in a regulated early childhood education and care service. Students will be supervised by a workplace supervisor who will support their learning and provide mentoring support when needed. The workplace supervisor will liaise with trainer/assessor and regularly provide update on the trainee course progress. An Assessor will visit the student at workplace to support learning and to undertake program to assist in determining that the required competency standards have been achieved. Additional Support Individual support plans are developed in consultation with the individual students. Support strategies may include; Additional one-on-one support from the trainer/assessor. Assigning of a mentor/coach that is able to provide additional support in the workplace and who works closely with the student and the trainer/assessor. Adjustments to the way training resources are accessed or provided. Adjustments to the way assessments are to be conducted or extra time for assessments. Assessment Arrangements There are a range of assessment methods that are used to judge student s competency in the program. These include; - Written Questions/Answers - Practical Activities - Research reports - Projects - Portfolio of work evidence - Third Party Report - Workplace Observation Credit Transfer If students have previously completed relevant units from CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, they may be eligible for credit transfer for some units. Please provide us a copy of your previous qualification to determine if you are eligible for any credit. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) If you are working in the industry for over 5 years and you believe that you have skills and knowledge that you want to be assessed against the course, then you can apply for RPL and we Page 4 TRY Learning

5 will estimate your skills/knowledge to see if you can be granted any recognition for your experience. Please contact us to know the process involved. Placement Requirements Costs How to Enrol Students are required to undertake 240 hours of practical placement in a regulated early childhood education and care service. While TRY Learning supports the students in finding a suitable host employer, students are also expected to contribute in finding a suitable placement venue. Trainer/Assessor will regularly visit students on the workplace to support their learning and to undertake workplace observation assessment. Students will be support by a Workplace supervisor as well, who will mentor the students at workplace. The workplace supervisor will also provide their reports to trainer/assessor to support the assessment decision. School based trainee will be working in the regulated early childhood education and care service i.e. Long day care center, Kindergarten etc. This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding. Students are individually assessed against set criteria to ensure that they meet the eligibility requirements under the Victorian Training Guarantee Program.
