21 IRON Program Quality Education is our Commitment Overview IRON course is a bridging course for overseas qualified nurses to be able to practice as registered nurse (RN) or enrolled nurse (EN) in Australia. The aim of this course is to assist overseas qualified nurses to embrace the knowledge and skills required to work as a nurse in Australia and provide support in the transition from nursing in their country of origin to nursing in Australia. On successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to apply for nursing registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority). Entry Requirements for IRON Must have completed Bachelor of Science in Nursing in your home country (Diploma holders can only become EN after IRON program) Three months of nursing experience during the last 5 years English requirement, similar to APHRA Must hold a current AHPRA letter English Requirement for IRON According to AHPRA, from the first of July 2015, IELTS, OET, PTE and TOEFL IBT are all acceptable and results of two sittings can be combined within 6 months from the first exam. 22 Work Training Program for Nurses Quality Education is our Commitment Overview The Work and Training Program for Nurses is developed by the Australian Centre of Further Education (ACFE) to enhance the skills of overseastrained nurses after completing the IRON Program. This program is open to all overseas trained nurses who have acquired AHPRA Registration as RN in Australia. The objectives of the WTPN as follows: 1. To further enhance the skills of overseas trained nurses after completing the IRON Program in order to have a better chance of employment. 2. You must supply your passport or certified copy, qualification documents and evidence for English competence. Documentation must be clean and readable / translated if not in English. All scanned documents must be selfattested or by an authorized ACFE agent. 3 SUBMISSION Sign and submit the filled application form. Submit your scanned or original documents via or office dropoff. Please submit all documents in one set. 4 REVIEW ACFE admissions team will review all the submitted documents. ACFE admissions team will start the verification process. If you are required to submit any further documents ACFE admissions will notify you. 5 DECISION AFCE admissions team will notify you with the decision on our application. 6 COE If your application is successful, you will receive a letter of offer. You must accept and sign the letter of offer and acceptance agreement before paying to ACFE. Once you have completed the payment you will receive a COE. 19

25 Accommodation Melbourne offers many accommodation options for students, prices are variable pending on location and whether it is a single room or a share room. Australian Centre of Further Education offer the following information as a reference of Melbourne accommodation range. Shared House Accommodation The shared house accommodation is located at Oak Park suburb which takes 8 minutes of walk from train station and it s close to supermarket, bank, shopping area. The minimum stay is 4 weeks with a $100 AUD of refundable bond upfront. Twin share Single room fully furnished & utilities included from $150 AUD per week fully furnished & utilities included from $180 AUD per week Student residency Student Residencies are a good option which provides the opportunity for students to meet friendly house mates and enjoy a range of social and sporting experiences all in English only environment.
