1 Course Code: HLT31115 This qualification reflects the role of persons who provide non-emergency transport and care for patients who require transport. In this role the worker is required to provide appropriate patient assessment in accordance with industry protocols, follow procedures for the safe removal of the patient for transport for either pre-arranged or a booked transport service. The training provided within the course reflects the expectations of the role within the Non Emergency Patient Transport Sector. The Occupational title for this role may include: Officer Attendant Entry Requirements: To qualify for admission to the course, applicants are required to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Course Coordinator that they: Are capable of successfully completing the course, Hold a current full, unrestricted Australian State or Territory Drivers Licence, Have a Police Check (name only) and Working with Children (Volunteer Card) undertaken, and Have no known physical restrictions. The student is responsible for all costs incurred in providing the required information for entry into the course. Selection Procedures/Selection Criteria: Applicants MUST provide the following support documents when proceeding with an application for the Officer Course: 1. Completed Enrolment Form (ensure all fields are complete before lodging) 2. A letter of Application (no more than 250 words) outlining your reasons for wishing to undertake this course and your preferred method of payment (instalment or lump sum ) if your application is successful. 3. Drivers Licence (Colour copy) Must be a full/open licence (no Probationary or Learners Permit) 4. Police check (note this can take up to 4 weeks to complete) - please discuss with First Intervention before applying for your Police check 5. Working with Children Card (Volunteer) unless you have the Card already as a requirement of your work - provide a copy of the card If you have subject exemptions, please notify First Intervention at the time of lodgement of your Course enrolment documentation. 2 Applications must be received no less than 14 days prior to the Course Induction date. Course Delivery: This course will be delivered and assessed via a number of methods which may include: Self Paced Activities / Quizzes Workplace Observations Topic specific lectures Case Studies Practicums / Simulated Scenarios Workbooks Assignments Teamwork activities The student must have access to a reliable computer with MS office or MAC equivalent, printer, reliable internet access, and PDF reader software capabilities. Subject fees do not include computers, printers, software and internet access. Students will be advised prior to the commencement of the Course of all dates, times and location of compulsory lectures for each subject. Required Textbooks and Equipment: The following textbooks are supplied within the course cost: o o o Medical Terminology for Health Care by Andrew R. Hutton Emergency First Aid by J. Haines Aspire Learning - Learner Resource booklets for select Units All other resources and equipment are supplied within the course structure. Skills Recognition: Including National Recognition (NR), Credit Transfer (CT), Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), and Recognition of Current Competency (RCC). At First Intervention we have developed a Skills Recognition Pathway aimed at making this a quick, simple and cost effective process. At the same time, we aim to provide a process that is valid, reliable and authentic. First Intervention invites all students to explore their Skills Recognition options when enrolling in any of our programs. For students seeking Skills Recognition for any single units of competency delivered in this course, or for this qualification as a whole, you must request a Skills Recognition Information Kit which will include important information about the process and an Application form. Fees for submitting an RPL/ RCC application will be charged at a rate of 75% of the hourly tuition fee against the nominal hours for that Unit. Where exceptions apply, you will be clearly informed during the Pre-Course Training review process to support your final decision. A detailed invoice will be issued once your application form has been received. All fees are required to be paid up-front before formal assessment of your application takes place. Depending on the outcome of your application, further fees and charges may apply to achieve a full unit exemption. All Applications will incur one off admin charge of $25.00.

Course Fees / Payment Options / Terms & Conditions Course fees may be paid either by Instalments across the duration of the Course OR by one Lump Sum payment with a discount. See below for terms & conditions of your preferred payment option and then advise in your application letter your preferred Payment Option. OPTION 1) Course Fees by Instalments: Upon acceptance into the course you will be notified and forwarded an invoice to remit the initial course deposit fee of $ which is part of the total course fees outlined on page 3. This fee is payable within 7 days of receipt of invoice and is non-refundable if cancellation is received less than 14 days prior to the course commencement date or after course commencement. This option allows the balance of course fees to be paid over five (5) instalments for which invoices will be issued across the course duration, for payment within a 7 day term. The 1 st of 5 Instalment invoices is issued on Day 1 of Course Commencement.
4 OR OPTION 2) Course fees by One Lump Sum Payment: A 10% discount is offered for payment of course fees in one lump sum payment. Payment is required before course commencement once your application has been approved and an invoice has been issued. Note, the initial course deposit fee mentioned above is not required if you are opting to pay by Lump Sum as it is already inclusive of the Course Fee amount. If a cancellation is received less than 14 days prior to the course commencement date an amount equivalent to the initial course fee deposit will be retained before a refund is processed. Other Fees There are no student services and amenities fees that apply. The Course fee also includes all textbooks and print materials required to complete the Course. Assessment All assessments conducted by First Intervention will be consistent with the requirements of Standards for Continuing Registration as outlined by the National VET Regulator for Registered Training Organisations. All assessment tools and methods will be valid, reliable, fair and flexible. Participants will be informed of the context and purpose of the assessment and the assessment process. Feedback will be provided to participants about the outcomes of the assessment process and guidance given on future options. Assessment strategies are designed to: cover a range of skills and knowledge required to demonstrate achievement of the course aim, collect evidence on a number of occasions and in a variety of contexts and situations, be appropriate to the knowledge, skills, methods of delivery and needs/characteristics of the learners, assist assessors to interpret evidence consistently, recognise prior learning, be equitable to all groups of learners, and where possible, an integrated approach to assessment is utilised. Complaints and Appeals First Intervention recognises that open discussion in a respectful and systemic approach is vital to valuing the opinions of both students and lecturers. First Intervention has a fair and equitable approach to all Complaints and Appeals which is available on the website and to all students via the Student Handbook and online classroom Student Resources Section. Upon Successful Course Completion On successful completion of all assessment activities assigned to the 13 Units of this Qualification Course you will be issued the Certificate III in Non-emergency and a Record of Results that will clearly
5 identify the 13 Units for which the Certificate represents. This will be issued to all successful participants within 10 working days of the final completion date. Certification will be withheld if course fees have not been remitted in accordance with the agreed payment terms, and only released once all fees have been duly paid. Details concerning your nominated method of payment and terms & conditions will also be advised. Applications must be received no less than 14 days prior to the Course Induction Date. This unit applies to a range of health and community service contexts where workers may communicate face-to-face, in writing or using digital media and work with limited responsibility under direct or indirect supervision. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required for a worker to participate in safe work practices to ensure their own health and safety, and that of others in work environments that involve caring directly for clients. It has a focus on maintaining safety of the worker, the people being supported and other community members. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to follow organisational infection prevention and control procedures, including implementing standard and transmission-based precautions and responding to infection risks. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work with basic information about the human body and to recognise and promote ways to maintain healthy functioning of the body. This unit applies to any worker who needs to use and interpret information that includes references to client anatomy and physiology. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to load, unload and drive vehicles safely to transport non-emergency patients to and from a facility or service. It includes using communication equipment and checking vehicles and equipment in order to restock and remedy faults. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work respectfully with people from diverse social and cultural groups and situations, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. This unit describes the knowledge and skills required to ensure safe removal of the patient under routine conditions as part of emergency work where patients are not anticipated to have an immediate life threatening injury, illness or condition. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. The unit applies to workers who may be required to provide, coordinate and manage a first aid response across a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This unit applies to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to understand and respond to instructions; to carry out routine tasks and communicate with a range of internal/external clients in a medical environment; as well as use appropriate medical terminology. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify and work within the legal and ethical frameworks that apply to an individual job role. It applies to community services and health workers who play a proactive role in identifying and meeting their legal and ethical responsibilities. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to manage routine non-emergency situations that are not anticipated to be life-threatening to ensure safety at the scene.
