1 Qualification National course code Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability, Home and Community) CHC33015 RTO ID Course Details Entry Requirements Course Requirements There are no formally prescribed course entry requirements for this qualification; Learners studying this qualification will need to have: Sound communication skills. A National Police Clearance Be 16 years or older Students in nearly every case will not be able to commence their mandatory work placement component until they have the National Police Clearance. This means that technically if a learner believes they will not be able to obtain a satisfactory National Police Clearance, then it becomes an entry requirement as there is no use studying a program if an employer in industry will not and cannot place or employ a learner. To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in 13 units of competency: 7 core units 6 elective units consisting of: o At least 4 units from those listed in the CHC33015 Qualification Package, with at least 2 units coming from Groups A, B or C in the Qualification Package. o Up to 2 units from those listed in the Qualification Package, any endorsed Training Package or Accredited Course these units must be relevant to the work outcome. Any combination of electives that meets the rules above can be selected for the award of the Certificate III in Individual Support. Where appropriate, electives may be packaged to provide a qualification with a specialisation. Packaging for each specialisation: All Group A electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing). All Group B electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).

2 At least four units from Group C electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Home and Community). Where two specialisations are completed award of the qualification would read for example Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community). Course Outcomes Course Delivery Students who obtain a competent result for a combination of 13 units, including non specific elective units will receive CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support. Students who obtain a competent result in 13 units and have elected to study a specialist stream can expect to obtain CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing), CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Home and Community). Students, who obtain a competent result across two specialisations, will receive a qualification reflecting both specialisations for example, CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability). or Students who do not obtain a competent result in the 13 units will receive a Statement of Attainment toward CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support, reflecting only the units successfully completed. This course is delivered through what is known as a blended delivery technique. It is an effective combination of face to face training, practical workshops, and at home study. All the theory subjects are completed in class and at home at your own pace within a set of reasonable timeframes to complete each unit. You have a Student Support Team Member who will make regular weekly contact with you offering one-on-one encouragement and guidance. Trainers, Assessors and your Student Support Team Member are readily accessible during standard business hours for any questions or assistance you may require. The practical sessions and workshops are face-to-face with qualified trainers, these are delivered in functioning nursing facilities and in simulated situations. This gives you the opportunity to combine the theory part of your study and assessments based on real life on-the-job situations and true to life activities. You ll find the hands on work place experience interesting and beneficial so that you can perform tasks efficiently and effectively in an actual workplace which will build your confidence and competence.

3 Duration The Australian Qualifications Framework Volume of Learning for this course range between 1200 hours and 1400 hours. The actual hours a student will undertake will vary according to each student s existing experience, skills and knowledge. We propose a total of hours consisting of: hours of actual face to face tuition, 120 hours of work placement and 20 hours per unit of home study for each Unit of Competency totalling 260 hours. Students will attend face to face classes 4 days every week, Saturday to Tuesday, for 11 weeks for the face to face hour s component. Students will have up to 12 months to complete the program. The work placement component will consist of 3 x 40 hours weeks totalling 120 hours of mandatory work placement, this will be attended Monday to Friday for three weeks once every 4 weeks of the program. The placements will be arranged in a nursing/disability facility or home and community situation in your area by AN&TS. Suitable for This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide personcentred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support. Pathways Pathways from this qualification include: CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability The two qualifications above are very distinct and naturally progressive pathways from the Certificate III in Individual Support, however learners successfully completing this qualification may choose from a broad range of other community service related training at the Certificate IV level. Many learners who complete Certificate III qualification, Aged Care or Disability related specialist disciplines can also use this as a pathway or introduction into Enrolled or Registered Nursing programs.

4 RPL and Credit Transfer Under RTO obligations (Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations 2015) ANTS recognises qualification issued by other RTOs. ANTS will accept and mutually recognise the qualifications and Statements of Attainment awarded by any other RTO unless precluded by licensing requirements. If a learner considers that he/she have already acquired the learning outcomes of a training course that is offered by ANTS, he/she may formally apply to have these skills recognised under our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) system.
