12 Project Brief Course Name: Diploma of Nursing (enrolled / division 2) Task Name: Video Journal Student Name: Unit Name: National Identifier: HLTEN401B Work in the nursing profession / DO96 SIN: Overview: Provide an overview of the project/assessment task and the elements of competence/learning outcomes it meets. Description: Apply the principles of primary health care delivery Apply the principle of wellness Work in the context of professional nursing practice Handle issues arising in health care Contribute to professional work team Participate in professional skills development Apply the Scope of Nursing Practice Decision Making Framework Student will reflect on nursing practise in a video journal. You will research and address these issues in preparing your promotion, producing copies of three journal articles. Students will adjust perspective to the local Geraldton community. Working in allocated teams, you will gain access to a digital camera and contribute effectively to produce an ultra short format video clip - no more than 85 seconds duration. You will help the allocated team of students for camera and acting roles while you must take responsibility for planning and research in your own project. In the following squares, make a storyboard showing each scene, as many as you need. You may only use music and materials which are not subject to copyright. You must contribute to supportive dynamics within the team environment. Work out in advance who and how to edit each clip as this can be very time consuming. Plan\2012\TAP.Profession.2012.S1.V1.Doc Page 12 of 17
13 You may not use pre-existing film. You will show evidence of reflection on this unit by addressing a topic that interests you. You must not display a corporate logo or mention a corporate name (ie cover name badge, do not use the word Durack, avoid showing product brands etc.). You must clearly identify the people in the film either by adding credits, title or by introducing yourself during the clip. Once you have completed the project, you must upload the clip to YouTube under a Creative Commons Attribution License to share your learning and expertise. You must work effectively to a time schedule. Shooting will take place during class time, once your project has been approved. You must ask for filming permission on and off campus well in advance and bring whatever props are needed for the day of filming (Usually the same day as the class photo when uniforms will be required). Allocate sufficient time for editing. You may select from the following subjects. Promote Aged Care Nursing Promote Mental Health Nursing Promote Nursing in Geraldton Promote the Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse Pathway Promote disability Nursing Promote nursing with aboriginal or culturally diverse people Promote reflection on a nursing perspective changing over time Promotion in keeping with the principles of public health Promote best practice for professional nurses (not students) based around the following issues identified in SQUIRE program Venous thromboembolism Pressure ulcers Falls prevention Medication reconciliation Surgical site infections Hand hygiene Use the assessment criteria as follows as a checklist to prepare for submission. Check the storyboard with colleagues in class before proceeding to production. You are expected to participate in several projects simultaneously, performing a leadership role for your own project, whilst also negotiating practical roles to assist classmates with other projects (eg. researcher, actor, camera, editor) Assessment criteria Detail all assessment criteria for the task including any observation; discussion; questioning that is planned. Video Journal relates to an allocated topic Plan\2012\TAP.Profession.2012.S1.V1.Doc Page 13 of 17
