These workers: Carry out activities related to maintaining an individual s well being through personal care and/or other activities of living May provide services to individuals with complex needs, and/or work with groups of older people of settings including residential and centre-based programs Work may include training and support to promote independence and community participation, which may be provided as part of activities and programs in a variety of settings including residential and centre-based programs Report to service managers and liaise with professionals and other service providers May be required to supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of other workers Occupational titles may include: Accommodation support worker Hostel supervisor Care supervisor Care team leader Day activity worker Assistant hostel supervisor Personal care worker Social Program coordinator Support worker p1

Assessment methods A wide variety of assessments methods will be employed to assess student competence in each unit. 3 Entry requirements To gain entry into CHC40108 Certificate IV in Aged Care a candidate must be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, against the following core units from CHC30208 Certificate III in Aged Care (or equivalent): CHCAC318B Work effectively with older people CHCAC319A Provide support to people living with dementia CHCCS411B Work effectively in the community sector CHCICS303A Support individual health and emotional well being CHCPA301B Deliver care services using a palliative approach HLTAP301B Recognise healthy body systems in a health care context For Certificate IV level courses, the recommended minimum level of education is Year 11 or equivalent or relevant qualification (at Certificate II or above) or relevant vocational experience. Course completion Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification CHC40108 Certificate IV in Aged Care issued by the Australian National Institute of Business and Technology Pty Ltd (ANIBT). The Pty Ltd (ANIBT) is a Registered Training Organisation (Provider number: 21368) registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). Workplace based experience Compulsory industry work based placement of 160 hours is required to be undertaken to successfully complete this course. A practical placement is structured workplace learning that helps prepare you for the workforce. It is a mandatory part of your course and it is designed to help you better understand what you have learned by putting it into practice in the workplace for a specific period of time. As a student, participation in practical placement will give you the opportunity to: apply knowledge and skills learned from your course in the workplace; gain skills that are recognised by industry; get to know employers expectations; increase your employment options and employability skills; and make contact with employers. ANIBT has a practical placement coordinator who will assist you with finding placements and match you to a host employer. However, some students may find their own placements. If you have a particular employer in mind, you can talk to your practical placement coordinator about it. Future pathways After successful completion of your Certificate III, you will have many other study options available to you. These may include the Certificate IV in Aged Care as well as a range of many other Certificate IV and or Diploma qualifications. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Students may be able to shorten the length of their chosen course by taking into account previous training, employment experience or other life skills that directly relate to the competencies the Unit of competency is assessing.
