1 Frensic Psychiatry (ST4) Entry criteria Essential Criteria Qualificatins Applicants must have: MBBS r equivalent medical qualificatin MRCPsych examinatin When Evaluated i Applicatin frm OR a specialist qualificatin in psychiatry frm an EU Member State that cmplies with the requirements f EU directive 2005/36/EC Please nte that as f 15 th Nvember 2013, letters f equivalence t MRCPsych prvided by the Ryal Cllege f Psychiatrists are n lnger a valid alternative t hlding the MRCPsych examinatin and will nt be accepted as equivalent t MRCPsych. Applicants must: r: Eligibility Be eligible fr full registratin with, and hld a current licence t practise ii frm, the GMC at time f intended start date. iii Have evidence f either: current emplyment in a UKFPO-affiliated fundatin prgramme 12 mnths experience after full GMC registratin, and evidence f achievement f fundatin cmpetences in the three years preceding the intended start date frm a UKFPO-affiliated fundatin prgramme r equivalent, in line with GMC standards / Gd Medical Practice; including: make the care r yur patient yur first cncern prvide a gd standard f practice and care take prmpt actin if yu think that patient safety, dignity r cmfrt is being cmprmised prtect and prmte the health f patients and f the public treat patients as individuals and respect their dignity wrk in partnership with patients wrk with clleagues in the ways that best serve patients interests be hnest and pen and act with integrity never discriminate unfairly against patients r clleagues never abuse yur patients trust in yu r the public s trust in the prfessin. All cmpetences must be as defined by the Ryal Cllege f Psychiatrists curriculum relating t cre psychiatric training. Acceptable evidence includes ARCP r equivalent certificates, Certificate C (equivalent cre cmpetence frm) 1, r alternative detailed certificatin demnstrating that the applicant has attained and maintained cre cmpetences, including psychtherapy, as set ut in all 18 ILOs in the 2010 cre psychiatry curriculum. Applicants shuld nte that the new 2013 cre psychiatry curriculum has 19 ILOs, but fr the August 2014 intake the 19th ILO is nt mandatry. Applicants withut all the necessary evidence at the time f applicatin must submit a written statement frm their educatinal supervisr r tutr stating that all f these cmpetences will be achieved by the time f appintment. This includes applicants in Cre Psychiatry Training wh are expecting Outcme 1 frm their end f CT3 ARCP. 1 Certificate C, the equivalent cre cmpetence frm, is a dcument designed by the Ryal Cllege f Psychiatrists, which lists the necessary cre cmpetences required fr prgressin t ST4, as defined in the CT curriculum: Certificate C can be dwnladed frm the Natinal Psychiatry Recruitment sectin f Health Educatin Nrth West - Nrth Western s website at:

Applicatin frm, preemplyment health screening Applicants must: Career prgressin Be able t prvide cmplete details f their emplyment histry Have evidence that their career prgressin is cnsistent with their persnal circumstances Have evidence that their present level f achievement and perfrmance is cmmensurate with the ttality f their perid f training At least 36 mnths experience 2 in psychiatry (nt including Fundatin mdules) by time f appintment Applicatin frm Interview/selectin OR 36 mnths training in psychiatry psts in an EU cuntry, supprted by evidence f cmpliance with the requirements f EU directive 2005/36/EC issued by a cmpetent authrity in that EU member state Nt have previusly relinquished r been released / remved frm a higher psychiatry training prgramme, except under exceptinal circumstances v. Applicatin cmpletin ALL sectins f applicatin frm cmpleted FULLY accrding t written guidelines. Applicatin frm 2 Nn training nn EU psts, r UK/EU psts such as e.g. staff grade, assciate specialist, lcum cnsultant, specialty dctr, lcum appintment fr service (LAS), Trust SHO, nt prspectively apprved by the cmpetent authrity (STA/PMETB/GMC in UK), d nt cunt twards the award f the Certificate f Cmpletin f Training (CCT). Dctrs wh have spent time in such psts will be eligible fr appintment t the specialty training prgramme leading t the award f the Certificate f Eligibility fr Specialist Registratin via a cmbined prgramme f nn training and training psts (CESR CP). Any time perids specified in this persn specificatin refer t full time equivalent.

It invlves a number f selectin activities which may be delivered within the unit f applicatin. v Examples might include ARCP utcme 4, r failure t prgress after tw r mre failed RITA-Es. Applicatins will nly be cnsidered if there is a letter f supprt frm the pstgraduate dean r designated deputy f the deanery in which the applicant wrked. Shuld the pstgraduate dean nt supprt the applicatin, appeal may be made t the recruitment lead, whse decisin will be final.
