2 Overview, Target Audience and Learner Outcome As this milestone conference is celebrated, we honor the past, appreciate the present and embrace the future. Much progress has been made in the care of high-risk pregnancies, pregnant women, sick newborns and families. Still, we have more work to do to ensure the best and safest care for these populations. Issues to be addressed include historical, current and future glimpses related to antenatal, fetal, intrapartum, neonatal and follow-up care. This interprofessional conference is comprised of nurses, advanced practice providers, physicians, respiratory therapists and other maternal/child health providers practicing in a variety of roles and settings throughout Colorado, Wyoming and the surrounding region. Attendees will gain knowledge of past, current and future perinatal practices impacting pregnant women, newborns, families and colleagues, and self-report evidence-based practice improvements to their leadership, clinical teams, families and/or community partners. Conference handouts will be ed to registered participants two days prior to the conference. Objectives Upon completion of this conference, participants should be able to: Evening Panel Presentation Summarize perinatal successes and challenges of the past 40 years and hopes for the future, being mindful of the influence L. Joseph Butterfield, MD had on perinatal care and our careers. Conference Presentations State the pathophysiology of cardiac diagnoses and advances in neonatal outcomes. Explore the opioid epidemic which has led to sharp rises in Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) and the social and hospital community s response. Review neonatal outcomes and the respective challenges in studying planned home birth. Identify current prediction methods in singleton and twin pregnancies of spontaneous preterm birth, untangling the complexity of medical and surgical prevention management. Define neonatal/maternal risk-appropriate care and regional practice of back-transport for premature infants. Explain factors that are driving current healthcare delivery reform initiatives. Continuing Education Credit Registration, attendance, sign-in and submission of the evaluation, including a written response to questions related to any change in practice that you may make as a result of learning that took place at this activity, are required for successful completion and receipt of the certificate of attendance.
