Children, families and obstetric health care teams are all impacted by maternal mortality and reducing maternal death is one of our key priorities as is improving outcomes for the newborns of these mothers. This CME program is designed to teach perinatal practitioners who manage high risk issues to utilize evidence-based principles in the delivery of high quality safe patient care. Through interactive workshops, discussion, and lectures, the program will address ACOG and NYSDOH Safe Motherhood initiative recommendations; early recognition of critical care situations and application of the rapid response approach; diagnosis and treatment strategies for severe hypertension during pregnancy and peripartum; promotion of multidisciplinary care for patients with co-morbidities; and awareness of resources to help those affected by adverse maternal/neonatal outcomes.
