2 [PRE-CONFERENCE] PRACTICAL & ETHICAL TRAVELS THROUGH Breastfeeding M ON D AY, O C T O BE R 8 The McKimmon Conference and Training Center 1101 Gorman St., Registration 8:15 to 9:00 am Program 9:00 am to 3:30 pm Participants will know techniques to provide optimal breastfeeding care and support to families. This workshop will provide information and tools for experienced clinicians. Target Audience Lactation consultants, nurses, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, physicians, physician assistants, chiropractors, speech pathologists nutritionists, health educators, doulas, public health practitioners, peer counselors, breastfeeding support volunteers and healthcare profession students Content includes: Postpartum Depression, Breastfeeding and Sleep Breastfeeding and Metabolic Syndrome Impact of Violence on Breastfeeding and Maternal Mental Health New Paradigm for Depression in New Mothers Learning Objectives At the conclusion of this educational activity, the participant should be able to: Discuss recent studies on breastfeeding s impact on women s lifetime health. Describe the role of breastfeeding and standard treatments for depression in lowering inflammation and down-regulating the stress response. Discuss the impact of violence on breastfeeding. Discuss fatigue and sleep for breastfeeding and formula-feeding mothers. IBLCE: 5.0 L CERPS Dietitian: 5.0 CPEU Wake AHEC CEU: Wake AHEC will provide 0.5 CEU to participants upon completion of this activity. A participant must attend 100% of the program to receive credit. Cancellations and Refunds No refunds will be issued unless we are notified by 5pm, on Tuesday, October 2, A $40 cancellation fee will be deducted from your registration fee if a refund is issued.
