2 COURSE OVERVIEW This one-day program will provide neonatal nurses with the most up-to-date information on a variety of complex neonatal issues. Research and technology are constantly expanding. This program will review some of the latest therapies utilized in the treatment of the sick neonate. GENERAL INFORMATION The conference will be held on the first floor of the Ruth and Tristram Colket, Jr. Translational Research Building. The registration fee is $125. The registration fee includes buffet breakfast, breaks, lunch and parking. As part of our going green initiative, syllabus material will not be distributed at the conference, but will be available online up to one week prior and two weeks following the conference. Tours will begin at the conclusion of the program. Please note on the registration form if you will be staying for a tour. COURSE OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: 1. Understand what severe combined immunodeficiency means to the newborn 2. Identify reasons why or why not a newborn is placed on ECMO 3. Discuss ramifications of a DNR order in the delivery room setting 4. Understand how the principles of palliative care can be applied to planning for patients who will be born with a life-limiting disease CONTINUING NURSING EDUCATION APPROVED PROVIDER STATEMENT Children s Hospital of Philadelphia is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. This program has been approved for 6.5 credit hours for the full-day program. 2
3 HOTEL INFORMATION A block of rooms has been reserved at the Sheraton University City Hotel, located three blocks from the Hospital. The group rates are $172 single and double occupancy, plus a 15.5 percent room tax. To make reservations, contact the Sheraton University City Hotel directly at , and be sure to mention the name of the conference when you make reservations. The special rate will be available until Monday, April 17, CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY Children s Hospital of Philadelphia reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to any unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, Children s Hospital of Philadelphia will refund any registration fees, less a $25 service charge, but is not responsible for any related costs, charges or expenses to participants, including cancellation charges assessed by airlines/travel agencies. In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellation must be received in writing by Tuesday, May 9, No refunds will be issued thereafter.
