2 Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) August 26 & 27, 2017 Online Course Access & Preparation Registrants will be provided an with a link to the online Portion of the ALSO Provider Course. Content consists of a pre-test; recorded lectures; online case studies; recorded workstation demonstrations; post-test and course evaluation. Upon completion of the evaluation and claiming of credit, the letter of participation will be accessible electronically. This letter must be provided to the course sponsor as proof of successful completion prior to participation in the Live Portion of the course. The online portion of the course must be completed no later than August 18, You will be able to download the presentation content and chapters for further review, printing or future reference. 4 ALSO Provider Course An educational program designed to enhance cognitive and procedural skills of health care professionals to help them manage obstetrical emergencies. This course is directed primarily toward maternity care providers including physicians, nurses, and certified nurse midwives. Overall Course Objectives 1. Discuss methods of managing pregnancy and birth urgencies and emergencies, which standardizes the skills of practicing maternity care providers. 2. Demonstrate content and skill acquisition as evidenced by successful completion of online course examination, skills workstations, and group testing stations. Detailed educational objectives are listed at the beginning of each ALSO Provider Manual chapter. Accreditation Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending. The American Academy of Family Physicians is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for contact hours applicable for RN, LPN, or LMHT relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing Provider Number; LT This is an advanced level course and may not be suitable for all general continuing nursing education. MAINTENANCE OF CERTIFICATION (MOC) The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) MOC standards now allow participation in ABOG-approved Simulation Courses to meet the annual Improvement in Medical Practice (Part IV) MOC requirement. This course has been approved to meet ABOG Improvement in Medical Practice requirements for Please review the 2016 MOC Bulletin at for further information. At the completion of this course and upon receipt of the sponsor s post-course materials, ALSO staff will create letters of participation for all learners. Wallet cards will be included on the letters for those who successfully complete both online post- test and hands-on skill workstations (scoring at least 80% on each). These letters will be distributed to learners by the course sponsor. Registration Due to a limited enrollment of 60 participants, advanced registration is encouraged. All registrations received on or before August 10, 2017 will be confirmed by mail, and it will include a confirmation letter, a map showing the conference location and parking. If you have not received your confirmation letter, you may contact UNM CME at to confirm your registration. Please confirm your registration prior to making your airline reservations. Payment may be made by Visa, MasterCard, check, or institutional purchase order. A copy of the P.O. must accompany the registration. Any registrations faxed without a Visa, MasterCard number or a copy of the Institutional P.O. cannot be processed. UNM CME does not maintain a petty cash fund. Cash payments must be made in the exact amount. It is UNM policy to charge offerer $35.00 plus normal merchant bank fees for each returned check.
