4 NEEDS STATEMENT Topics include the latest advances in pelvic urogynecology, perinatal medicine, imaging, maternal-fetal surgical intervention, minimally invasive surgery, infectious diseases, reproductive psychiatry, prenatal genetics, infertility, medical quality and safety, and medical ethics. Lectures will have an interactive and multidisciplinary focus. EDUCATIONAL METHODS Lecture Case Presentation Question and Answer Sessions Panel Discussion TARGET AUDIENCE Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, and other clinical professionals who provide women s health care. OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to: Identify the primary causes of maternal mortality in the U.S. and efforts to reverse the trend in rising maternal mortality Develop care plans and identify referral resources for women When counseling patients who may face infertility due to cancer or other chronic illness, identify reproductive options and resources Explain a multidisciplinary clinical care approach for patients with suspected morbidly adherent placenta Discuss the use of existing technologies and novel ways to address gynecological dilemmas Identify indications and contraindications for forceps delivery and demonstrate the ability to apply non-rotational outlet forceps in a simulation setting Discuss approaches to laparoscopic surgery Recognize congenital anomalies that may benefit from fetal surgical intervention and the associated procedural risks and benefits Discuss and develop stress reduction strategies and coping skills, and identify signs of burnout in self, colleagues and employees EVALUATION Evaluation by questionnaire will address program content, presentation, and possible bias. ACCREDITATION/CREDIT DESIGNATION PHYSICIANS Baylor College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Baylor College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. The presentation, Ethics Case Studies in Fetal Intervention, has been designated by Baylor College of Medicine for.75 credit of education in medical ethics and/or professional responsibility. NURSES Texas Children s Hospital is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Texas Nurses Association - Approver, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. This CNE activity has been jointly provided by Texas Children s Hospital collaboratively with Baylor College of Medicine and awards up to contact hours. DISCLOSURE In order to meet the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, it is the policy of Baylor College of Medicine that all individuals who are in a position to control the content of a CME activity (activity director, planning committee members and faculty) disclose relevant financial relationships with commercial interests. All identified conflicts of interest are managed to help ensure that the educational material is scientifically based, accurate, and objectively presented. Specific disclosure will be made to the participants prior to the educational activity. Audio or videotaping is prohibited without written permission from the Activity Director and the Office of Continuing Medical Education, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. The OCME reserves the right to limit the number of participants in an activity and will not be responsible for any expenses incurred by an individual whose registration is not confirmed and for whom space is not available. 5 CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY Requests for registration refunds must be in writing and received by the OCME at least 10 business days before the activity begins. The date the request is received by the OCME will be considered the cancellation date. Requests received after the refund deadline will not be processed. Cancellations are subject to a $50 administrative fee deducted from the registration fee paid to cover guarantees and other expenses. Requests should be mailed to the OCME or faxed to The OCME reserves the right to cancel activities, not less than 10 business days before the scheduled date, if extenuating circumstances make it necessary. Registrants will be notified at the contact number indicated on the registration form followed by written notification. If an activity is canceled, OCME s liability is limited to the registration fee paid. Note: If payment is made by check, a social security number is required to process the refund. Since meeting room temperatures and personal comfort levels vary, it is recommended that you bring a sweater or light jacket to the educational activities.
