PATIENT SAFETY, a concept prompted by the findings published by the Institute of Medicine entitled To Err is Human, (1995), has begun to change the focus and methods of patient care in and out of hospitals in the U.S. and elsewhere. This initiative is designed to promote a decrease in adverse events that may occur during patient care. This symposium will focus on Patient Safety as applied in the Obstetrics area. A number of local and national experts who have initiated such programs will share their philosophy, findings and the results of their efforts.
