3 GENERAL INFORMATION This conference will be held in the James T. Dove, MD Conference Center at Prairie Heart Institute, 619 E. Mason Street,. For general information regarding the course, please call REGISTRATION Please complete the registration form and return it with the appropriate fee. Registration the day of the conference will begin at 8:00 a.m. Registration fee includes meals, breaks and conference materials. CANCELLATION POLICY Registrants who must cancel may receive a refund of the registration fee, less a $25 processing fee. Refunds must be requested by calling the Offi ce of CME at Requests for refunds must be made within two days after the conference. WHO SHOULD ATTEND This program has been designed for primary care physicians. Mid-level providers and other healthcare professionals who have an interest in women s health are welcome to attend. ACCREDITATION This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of SIU School of Medicine and St. John s Hospital. The SIU School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. CREDIT The SIU School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.25 AMA PRA Category 1 credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Application for CME credit has been fi led with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Determination of credit is pending. American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts certifi cates of participation for educational activities certifi ed for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit from organizations accredited by the ACCME. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 5.25 hours of Category 1 credit for completing this program. 4 OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of this conference, participants will be able to: Recognize the clinical features of precocious puberty. Perform initial diagnostic testing to evaluate for precocious puberty. Describe long term growth and psychological effects associated with precocious puberty. List the most commonly sought after supplements and the clinical information behind the hype of these alternative treatments. Recognize the variety of supplements marketed to various age groups. Describe the potential for interaction of dietary supplements with prescription medications. Evaluate the female patient presenting with sexual dysfunction. List potential causes of sexual dysfunction throughout the lifespan. Identify initial treatment options available for women with sexual dysfunction. Outline cardiac issues specifi cally related to pregnancy. Identify clinical signs and symptoms of pregnancy related cardiac issues. Describe specifi c cardiac risks that may be higher in women who are still having children at an advanced maternal age. Describe the recommendations for BRCA gene testing. Counsel patients on the pros and cons of genetic evaluation for the BRCA gene. List the options available to women who carry the BRCA gene and how effective these options are for prevention/surveillance of breast cancer, given their genetic risk. Ask appropriate questions of patients to screen for domestic violence. Identify resources available to individuals suffering from domestic violence. Describe the prevalence of domestic violence across age spectrums. List the recommendations for prevention of bone loss after menopause. Utilize the recommendations regarding screening for bone health. Select the appropriate medications for the treatment of osteoporosis, as well as osteopenia.
