3 Overview The Adzuna Jb Index this mnth shws 1,092,030 rles being advertised acrss the UK, a 30.0% increase n the natinal vacancy cunt last year. Cmpetitin fr jbs fell again in e 20, reaching anther recrd lw f 0.67 jbseekers t every advertised rle in the UK. Vacancy grwth cntinues, but salaries still sliding Andrew Hunter, c-funder f Adzuna, cmments: Unemplyment has marginally increased, but the wider trend is still fr mre vacancies pening up. The mmentary hvering has in part been caused by several large cmpanies that have recently annunced significant staffing cuts, including bth Rlls Ryce and the BBC. Our data als shws that the General Electin had a clear impact n hiring behaviur in the UK with emplyers pausing fr thught as the electin lmed, and many jb advertisers treading water and hlding back n hiring in March & April 20. The frward lking data fr e and July suggests a bunce back in recruitment, which will n dubt lead t unemplyment falling again ver the summer. Advertised salaries have stagnated, even as emplyers have been raising the wages f thse in wrk, as cmpanies try hard t invest in existing staff t prevent them frm jumping ship, rather than n hiring new starters. This means that fr the first time in years, it makes sense fr wrkers lking fr a pay rise t ask fr a raise, rather than assume they will make much mre mney by mving elsewhere. Where are all the jbs?
