WRP develped summaries frm all f the Services and the Natinal Guard, describing the histry, missins, and imprtance f these assets. These summaries use nly publicly available infrmatin and are written fr the plicy maker new t military issues and the military savvy persn needing specific military infrmatin. 3 2016 U.S. Air Frce: HILL AFB : UTAH Hill Air Frce Base is an Air Frce Materiel Cmmand base lcated in nrthern Utah. Hill is the Air Frce's third largest base by ppulatin and size. The base is hme t many peratinal and supprt missins, with the hst rganizatin being the 75th Air Base Wing. Hill AFB traces its histry t when the Army attempted t establish an airmail statin in the area in the 1930s. These "Citizen Airmen" serve part time in the military, but are fulltime members f the lcal cmmunity. Mst live, wrk, and raise families in Nrthern Utah. 419th FW members regularly vlunteer t deply in supprt f cntingency peratins and humanitarian relief effrts arund the wrld. The 419th FW ffers a diverse range f cmbat capability t include F-16 and F-35 peratins and maintenance, as well as full-spectrum missin supprt grup. The Directrate develps, acquires and supprts sil-based ICBMs and prvides prgram directin and lgistics supprt as the single face t the custmer. The Directrate is als respnsible fr acquisitin, systems engineering, and dept repair. They manage equipment spares, prvide strage and transprtatin, and accmplish mdificatins and equipment replacement t sustain sil-based ICBM systems. The Directrate is cmprised f the ICBM Grund Systems Divisin (NIA), ICBM Flight Systems Divisin (NIB), ICBM Future Systems Divisin (NIC) and ther supprting ffices. The Little Muntain Test Facility is a state-f-the-art test facility, Air Frce Materiel Cmmand labratry dedicated t simulatin testing f nuclear hardness, survivability, reliability and electrmagnetic cmpatibility f defense systems. Center test labratries simulate envirnments fr nuclear radiatin, air blast, shck and vibratin, electrmagnetic pulse, electrmagnetic interference, and cmpatibility testing. The 1,000-acre facility is lcated 15 miles west f Ogden n 12th Street, near the Great Salt Lake. It is wned by the Air Frce and perated in cnjunctin with defense cntractrs. The Strategic Missile Integratin Cmplex is the ICBM System Directrate's test facility fr perfrming system-level testing and integratin. It is cmprised f fully cnfigured Minuteman launch facilities and launch cntrl facilities with a hst f unique test statins and instrumentatin. Mdificatins t the weapn system are checked ut at the cmplex prir t being fielded at peratinal units. 4

The Oasis Cmpund and its adjacent Missile Strage Area are lcated n the nrtheastern prtin f the UTTR. The range is a primary test site fr advanced strategic weapns systems. It is used fr testing munitins and prpellants up t the mst pwerful ICBM rcket mtrs. The Oasis Cmpund is als the site where missile mtrs are destryed under the START I Treaty. The ICBM Systems Directrate is a prud AFMC rganizatin which reprts directly t the Air Frce Nuclear Weapns Center at Kirtland AFB, New Mexic. The ICBM Systems Directrate (NI) is lcated at Hill AFB, UT and is respnsible fr acquisitin and mdernizatin excellence t sustain the current deplyed Minuteman III frce. As the single face t the custmer, the Directrate is respnsible fr a $7 billin Future Year Defense Prgram prtfli supprting the acquisitin, systems engineering, dept repair and mdernizatin required t sustain the Natin's sil-based ICBM fleet. The Directrate delivers n time, nbudget executin f 33 fficial prgrams valued at apprximately $22 billin by applying sund life cycle lgistics principles, skills, and tls. 8 2016 U.S. Air Frce UTAH TEST AND TRAINING RANGE : UTAH The Utah Test and Training Range (UTTR) is a Department f Defense Majr Range and Test Facility Base and prvides an ideal lcatin fr peratinal test and evaluatin fr weapns requiring a large safety ftprint. It is the nly lcatin capable f supprting the verland testing f cruise missiles. The UTTR is lcated in Utah s West Desert, apprximately 80 miles frm Salt Lake City. Interstate 80 divides the range int nrth and suth sectins. The range is used in a training capacity fr air-t-air, air-tgrund inert and live practice bmbing and gunnery training by DOD aircrew. UTTR prvides a vast area f realistic terrain fr wrld-class test and training scenaris t ensure the warfighter is prepared t deply at a mment s ntice t win any cnflict with decisive air and space pwer. 9 2016 U.S. Army DUGWAY PROVING GROUND : UTAH Established in 1942, Dugway Prving Grund (DPG) is lcated in the Great Salt Lake Desert, apprximately 80 miles suthwest f Salt Lake City. DPGs terrain varies frm salt flats t mixed desert terrain t rugged muntains. Cntrlled by the Army Test and Evaluatin Cmmand, DPG is the Department f Defense s leader in chemical and bilgical defensive testing, envirnmental characterizatin, and remediatin technlgy testing. As such, it includes several state-f-the-art chemical and bilgical labratries as well as numerus testing and training grunds thrughut the facility. DPG als supprts Army Reserve and Army Natinal Guard maneuver training, and Air Frce flight tests. In 2014, it was estimated that DPG had an ecnmic impact f apprximately $236 millin n the lcal ecnmy. 11 U.S. Army TOOELE ARMY DEPOT : UTAH Operated by civilians, Tele Army Dept (TEAD) is the Department f Defense s (DD) western regin cnventinal ammunitin hub and the DD ammunitin peculiar equipment center. TEAD falls under the cmmand f Jint Munitins Cmmand (JMC), lcated at Rck Island, Illinis. The dept is lcated 35 miles west f Salt Lake City in the Great Salt Lake Desert. TEAD is respnsible fr shipping, string, receiving, inspecting, demilitarizing, and maintaining training and war reserve distributing APE. cnventinal ammunitin. The dept als serves as the Natinal Inventry Cntrl Pint fr Ammunitin Peculiar Equipment (APE).
