SIGNIFICANT ARRESTS: OVERSTREET, Daphne: Aggravated Battery. Feb. 7th Officer Bilbrey assisted with the 2017 Citizens Police Academy during the Simulator Training Demonstration. Feb. 11th K-9 Officer David Bilbrey and his partner Brody attended the Ultimate Fitness Grand Opening Event and Spessard Holland Elementary School performing K-9 Demonstrations at both locations. K-9 Officer Bilbrey reported 11 K-9 Deployments for the months of Jan-Feb CHARLIE SQUAD SGT. GERAD HUNT Officer Jesse Bloise is progressing in the FTO Program and is currently assigned to Officer Cherish Huber. EDUCATION: Officers completed their monthly PoliceOne and Police Law Institute Training. Sgt. Hunt and Ofc. McKee conducted annual rifle and shotgun qualifications. This month Charlie Squad generated 10 arrests and issued 32 citations. K-9 Officer Arturo Gonzalez and his partner Rico are representing the department in the USPCA Region One Field Trials. Feb 7th Sgt. Hunt assisted with the Citizens Police Academy during Demonstrations of the Training Simulator. Feb. 14th Sgt. Hunt presented the topic USE OF FORCE/DEFENSIVE TACTICS to the citizens Police Academy. SGT. HIRAM SAUNDERS Interim Patrol Commander Officer Michael Prevatt presented the topic DOMESTIC VIOLENCE to the 2017 Citizens Police Academy on Feb. 28th. DELTA SQUAD SGT. WILLIAM REALL Ofc. Driesler completed his probationary period. Officer Fernandez has completed 6 months of Probation. SIGNIFICANT ARRESTS: KENNEDY BLACKBURN, May-Lynn: Aggravated Assault Domestic Violence. SOUVANNARATH, Darouni: Child Abuse. Patrol squads Bravo and Charlie squared off against each other in an archery competition on Sat. Feb. 11. Charlie Squad's Cody Vaughn for the win with 124 Points, while Bravo Squad s Mike Bennett scored a disappointing 114. Participating from Charlie Squad was Officer Arturo Gonzales and Bravo Squad s Officer Jordon March Officer Mike Prevatt was ROCKED! This young friend presented the officer with a rock she painted. Finding and hiding the colorful rocks has been a popular fad and the Police Department has received several. SIGNIFICANT ARRESTS/INVESTIGATIONS: WILSON, Derouis: Sexual Battery of a Minor and Violation of Probation MCDOUGALD, Lashane: Lewd Molestation of a Minor. MURPHY, Jauera: False Information to Law Enforcement and Disrupting an Educational institution,. This case is relative to the false reporting of an armed subject at Bartow High School. FRANCIS, Garth: Kidnapping (Domestic Violence), Sexual Battery, and Felony Battery. EVANS, Travon: Violation of Pre-Trial conditions in relation to a previous arrest for Domestic violence. EVANS was employed by the Polk County Sherri s Office as a Detention Deputy at the time of the original incident, SPURLOCK, Tiffany: Lewd Battery of a Minor and Unlawful Sexual Activity C.S.T. (COMMUNITY SERVICES TEAM) Sgt. Bryan Dorman Officer Sills has been re-assigned to Officer Randy Tagliarini for training. EDUCATION: Sgt. Dorman attended the Monthly Leadership Bartow Training. CST Personnel completed monthly Police Law Inst. Training online. ARRESTS/TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT: BELL, Ron: Resisting an Officer w/o Force, Robbery Warrant. HOLLIFIELD, Nicholas: Possession of Meth, Narcotic Paraphernalia, and Violation of Probation. COMMUNITY SERVICE/ Feb. 7, Attended the Monthly Chief s Chat held at Urban Oak Restaurant at 7:30 AM. The COP Volunteers patrol in pairs, throughout the city during the daylight hours. In addition to patrolling, The COP Volunteers report suspicious activity and assist with Crime Prevention, parades, and other Community Service Events. Feb. 8, Attended the Monthly Traffic Safety Team Meeting. Feb. 9, Provided a Tour of the Department to Bartow High School s Criminal Justice Class. Feb. 13, Attended E.P.A.C. Monthly Meeting held at Carver Rec. Center at 5:30 PM. Feb. 14, Week Three of the Citizens Police Academy. Presentations included: Public Safety Aides, Tyrinda Pride and Sabrina Cowart, School Resource officers by Officer Heather Vance, and Sgt. Hunt presented USE OF FORCE/DEFENSIVE TACTICS.. Class participants practiced handcuffing techniques, defensive FEBRUARY 2017 VOLUNTEER ACTIVITY with a Minor. PEREZ, Jelson: Sexual Battery of a Minor, Unlawful Sexual Activity with a Minor. Det. Griffith worked with the US Marshal's fugitive Task Force to secure PEREZ apprehension. PEREZ was arrested in Palm Beach County on these charges. PIERRE, Loveson: Robbery PIERRE, Schneider: Robbery Detectives Stevens and Stokes attended the Polk County Intelligence Meeting. Detectives are currently working 102 active Felony Investigations. Feb. 21st Det. Jason Griffith conducted a presentation on GANGS to the 2017 Citizens Police Academy. maneuvers, and two members were chosen to deploy a Taser. Feb. 21, Week Four of the Citizens Police Academy with presentations from Brian Haas, State Attorney, Guy Bradstock with the Public Defender s Office, and Det. Jason Griffith presented on GANGS & GANG ACTIVITY. Feb. 27, CST facilitated a COP Volunteer Meeting at 5:30 PM. Feb. 28, Week Five of the 2017 Citizens Police Academy, the topic of the night was Domestic Violence. Presentations presented by Officer Michael Prevatt, Kathy Haley a DV Survivor and Lyn Bryan spoke in regard to Victim Services. C.O.P. Volunteers David and Delores Lane driving the COP Vehicle in a parade. The Lanes regularly patrol the city on Wednesday mornings, and help with special events like EPAC s Annual Parent/Youth Summit coming up April 11, 2017

4 Page CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY The 2017 Citizens Police Academy 10-Week Program, which began Jan. 31st is progressing nicely. This month, the class heard from several In-House presenters and several guest speakers including State Attorney Brian Haas, Guy Bradstock with the Public Defenders Office and Kathy Haley, Domestic Violence Survivor. The course, which is limited to sixteen citizens of Bartow, meet each Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 9:30. During the 10-week program the class will hear from presenters in all areas of the Bartow Police Department., concluding with a graduation ceremony on April 11, Each night a light supper is also provided SGT. HUNT DEMONSTRATES DEFENSIVE TACTICS Sgt. Gerad Hunt demonstrates Defensive Tactics, allowing CPA Class member Kim Little give him some punches. DEMONSTRATIONS BY THE BARTOW FIRE DEPARTMENT THE FIREARMS TRAINING SIMULATOR WAS MOST POPULAR WITH THE CLASS PUBLIC SAFETY AIDES SABRINA COWART AND TYRINDA PRIDE Public Safety Aides Sabrina Cowart and Tyrinda Pride presented during Week Three. The American Legion Post No. 3 has funded the CPA Program 100% since 2010

The number of burglaries this month was down 44% from last month. Of the vehicles burglarized, 67% of the victims in those cases declined to have their vehicles processed for evidence. YES! Neighborhood Watch is one of the oldest and most effective crime prevention programs in the country. It brings citizens together with law enforcement to deter crime and make communities safer. In two separate burglary cases last month, suspects were apprehended by the police as a direct result of neighbors who called the police to report suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
