1 UMATILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE WEEK OF January 8, 2013 THROUGH January 14, 2013 ARRESTS 1/11/2013 At 1:05 am officers made a traffic stop resulting in a criminal citation to being issued to appear in court to Alan M. Welch of Umatilla for driving with a suspended driver s license knowingly. 1/14/2013 At 8:45 am officers arrested Thomas A. Melusky of Umatilla for two warrants out of Lake County charging violation of probation. 1/14/2013 At 5:00 pm officers arrested Elaine Brown of Umatilla for a warrant out of Lake County for violation of probation and possession of drug paraphernalia. REPORTS FILED 1/9/2013 At 3:30 pm officers responded to the Umatilla Truck Stop in reference to the theft a cell phone. The customer had left it on the counter when he paid and a customer in the store claimed the phone. 1/10/2013 At 7:02 pm officers recovered a discarded bicycle from a residence on Pine Street. It has been placed in safe keeping at the police department. 1/11/2013 At 1:39 pm officers took a report of a stolen gun from a vendor at the Southside Flea Market. 1/11/2013 At 4:00 pm officers took a report of identity theft. 1/11/2013 At 5:35 pm officers took a report of a battery that had occurred earlier at a residence on Wisteria Avenue. 1/12/2013 At 1:23 pm officers responded to the Sav-A-Lot store in reference to the theft of a wallet. The customer had set the wallet down while paying for groceries and another customer picked up the wallet and left. 1/12/2013 At 4:58 pm officers responded to a disturbance in the area of Orange Avenue and Bulldog Lane. ASSIST OTHER AGENCY

2 1/11/2013 At 6:03 pm officers assisted LCSO with a traffic crash on West 3 rd Street just outside of the city limits. 1/11/2013 At 7:37 pm officers assisted LCSO with a traffic crash on SR19 just outside the city limits. 1/12/2013 At 6:49 pm officers assisted LCSO at the North Lake Community Park. 1/13/2013 At 11:37 pm officers responded to a fight in progress at the request of the Lake County Sheriff s Office. Officers provided backup until subjects were secured and returned to the city. CALLS FOR SERVICE: 135 FELONY ARRESTS :0 MISDEMEANOR ARRESTS:3

3 UMATILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE WEEK OF January 15, 2013 THROUGH January 21, 2013 ARRESTS REPORTS FILED 1/16/2013 At 1:20 pm officers made contact with a victim of a crime from Stuben County New York in reference to assisting their Sheriff s Office with paperwork. 1/16/2013 At 7:52 officers made contact with persons sitting in a vehicle at the Cadwell Park parking area. Officer s explained to the occupants that the park was closed and they would need to vacate the premises. 1/18/2013 At 7:13 am officers took a report of a stolen vehicle from Devault Street. The vehicle was recovered later in Marion County. 1/18/2013 At 7:46 am officers took a report of a stolen vehicle from Lakeview Street. That vehicle was located within the city. 1/18/2013 At 8:47 am officers took a report of a vehicle burglary on South Central Avenue. 1/18/2013 At 10:02 am officers took a report of a vehicle burglary on Roberts Street. 1/21/2013 At 10:29 pm officers responded to a disturbance on Collins Street. Parties separated for the night. ASSIST OTHER AGENCY 1/18/2013 At 11:21 pm officers assisted EMS with a medical call just outside of the city in Dona Vista. CALLS FOR SERVICE: 155 FELONY ARRESTS :0 MISDEMEANOR ARRESTS:0

4 UMATILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE WEEK OF January 22, 2013 THROUGH January 28, 2013 ARRESTS 1/28/2013 At 11:28 pm officers made a traffic stop resulting in a criminal citation to appear in court being issued to Brenda K. Steverson of Umatilla for driving with a suspended driver s license knowingly. 1/28/2013 At 3:45 pm officer s arrested Kati L. Stynchcomb of Umatilla. Stynchcomb was booked into the Lake County Jail with charges of making a false report to law enforcement, scheme to fraud, extortion and tampering. REPORTS FILED 01/22/2013 At 6:23 am officers responded to a dumpster fire at the First Baptist Church of Umatilla. The fire was extinguished safely and WSI was contacted in reference to damages to their equipment. 1/22/2013 At 6:15 pm officers responded to a residential burglary alarm on Fairway Circle. The homeowner was home and the alarm reset. 1/24/2013 At 4:56 pm officers took a report of a stolen bicycle from E Collins Street. The bicycle was recovered one day later. 1/27/2013 At 1:58 am officers responded to a domestic disturbance on E Collins Street. Subject had fled before officer s arrival. Case will be filed with the State Attorney s Office. 1/27/2013 At 8:10 pm officers were dispatched to a disturbance on Fern Street. Parties were separated and later returned for officers to be dispatched a second time in reference to a fight. Charges are being filed with the State Attorney s Office. ASSIST OTHER AGENCY 1/23/2013 At 2:45 pm officers responded to a disturbance just outside the city on Pearl Street. As soon as deputies had the disturbance under control officers returned to the city.
