Smith NEW EMPLOYEES: Officer Bloise was released from training and has been assigned to Bravo Squad. Officers completed their monthly Police One and Police Law Institute Training. K-9 Ofc. M.

Officers have been conducting directed traffic controls throughout the city.

Smith NEW EMPLOYEES: Officer Bloise was released from training and has been assigned to Bravo Squad. Officers completed their monthly Police One and Police Law Institute Training. K-9 Ofc. M. Smith completed 16 hours of K-9 Training. WEST, Shane Tyler: Burglary Officers effected 14 arrests and issued 83 citations this month. Officers have been conducting directed traffic controls throughout the city. New Officers Alexander Guzman and William Scheel Sworn-In On April 10, 2017 new members of the Bartow Police Department were swornin by Chief of Police Joe Hall. Sworn-in were Alexander Guzman, and William Scheel. Friends, family and several members of the department joined in the ceremony. Sgt. William Reall Retired Foregoing the customary celebration or fan-fare, Sgt. William Bill Reall quietly retired this month after a lengthy career with Bartow Police Department. Sgt. Reall began his career in October 1990, at Bartow Police Department, spending most of his nearly 26.5 years in the Patrol Unit. CHARLIE SQUAD SGT. GERAD HUNT NEW EMPLOYEES: NA Officers completed monthly Police One and Police Law Institute Training. WASHINGTON, Robin: Child Abuse and Aggravated Assault DUNKLE, Paul: Possession of Methamphetamine. Charlie Squad members made a total of 5 arrests for the month of April, and issued 44 citations. Charlie Squad has been conducting late night/early morning patrol in local residential areas which have been burglarized during the month of April. The Squad has also placed emphasis on Traffic Enforcement on Dayshift. Sgt. Hunt participated in the Firearms Training portion of the Citizens Police Academy on April 4th. DELTA SQUAD Submitted by: Sr. Ofc. Carl Smith None No significant arrests this month. Delta Squad had a total of 3 arrests this month. TELECOMMUNICATIONS REPORT SUBMITTED BY: Jane Casselman, Telecommunications Supervisor All Communications personnel completed monthly training through Police One online training. 911 Calls 647 Police Calls for Service 1524 Fire Calls for Service 237 Electric Call-Outs 25 City Fleet Calls 2 Public Works Calls 25 April 10-16th 2017, was National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. The City of Bartow is one of only a few cities within Polk County that have maintained an Emergency Telecommunications Operations Center. On April 12, BPD Telecommunications employees were honored with a breakfast provided by their supervisor, Jane Casselman. Each employee received a gift of appreciation and a raffle was held and everyone won a prize. Telecommunicators are the unseen voice on the other end of the line, the Golden Link between the public and first responders. THANK YOU For a job well done!

AMBROSE, Anthony: Burglary of a Structure and Criminal Mischief. RICHARDSON, Monica: Criminal Use of Personal ID and Obtaining Goods by Fraudulent Means. Det. Hauser attended the Monthly Polk County Intelligence Meeting. Det. Stevens and CST Stacey Perry presented Crime Scene Investigations to the Citizens Police Academy Group on Apr. 4. Detectives are currently working 96 active felony investigations. Much to his chagrin, Sgt. Eric Sherouse was the guest of honor at a surprise birthday celebration on April 18. Sgt. Sherouse might have quietly foregone the day without any hullabaloo, however, his office assistant Suzanne Orem would have no part of it. Suzi conspired with CSI Stacey Perry, to surprise him, although, by the end of the day, he was only slightly surprised. Happy birthday Sgt. Sherouse! C.S.T. (COMMUNITY SERVICES TEAM) Sgt. Bryan Dorman CST Members completed Police Law and Police One online training. Sgt. Dorman attended Leadership Bartow Day at the Polk County Sheriff s Office QUINTASKET, Alexander: Retail Theft LOVE, Devin: Outstanding Warrant COMMUNITY SERVICE/ CST Officers attended City Commission meetings this month.. April 4 Attended the Monthly Chief s Chat held at Urban Oak Restaurant at 7:30 AM. April 4, Attended Advisory Luncheon at Webber International University of Criminal Justice Program. April 4, 6:30 PM, Week 9 of the 2017 CPA included presentations from Det. Bill Stevens on Crime Scene Investigations, assisted by Evidence Custodian Stacey Perry. A Mock Crime Scene was presented by CST Officers Tagliarini and Carl Smith. The class participated in Firearms Training on the Range. Instructors Ofc. John McKee, Ofc. David Bilbrey, and Sgt. Gerad Hunt were present, insuring one instructor per each class member during the session. April 5, Ofc. Tagliarini attended the Monthly Traffic Safety Team Meeting. April 8, Saturday 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, CST members, Explorer Post 631, Patrol Commander Sgt. Hiram Saunders, School Resource Officers, K-9 Officers and Training Coordinator Linda Waligorski participated in the Annual Youth/Parent Summit presented by EPAC at Carver Recreation Center. April 17, CST Coordinator Lyn Bryan attend the City Commission Meeting to accept a proclamation for National Volunteer Week. April 17, Sgt. Dorman attended a City Budget meeting at City Hall. April 20, Ofc. Tagliarini and Training Coordinator Linda Waligorski attended a Career Fair/ Recruiting at Webber International University. Later the same day, they attended a second Recruiting/Career Day Event at Bartow High School. April 21, CST attended the Ground-Breaking of the new home to be built at 4th and Laurel with other City Officials. April 28, Bartow Police Volunteers were honored at a Breakfast in recognition of National Volunteer Week. April 28, assisted Bartow High School s Criminal Justice Class with their fundraising booth at the annual Relay for Life Event held at the high school. April 29, (Sat) Sgt. Dorman, Lyn Bryan and COP Volunteer Saralyn White attended a Safety Day Event held at the Village of Laurel Meadows from 10:00am-1:00 pm April 29 (Sat) Ofc. Tagliarini and PSA Sabrina Cowart participated in the Pill Drop Event held in the BPD parking lot from 10am-2pm. APRIL 2017 VOLUNTEER ACTIVITY COP Volunteers patrol in pairs, throughout the city during the daylight hours. In addition to patrolling, The COP Volunteers report suspicious activity and assist with Crime Prevention, parades, and other Community Service Events. If you are interested in one of the Volunteer Programs, please call: CST Coordinator Lyn Bryan, VOLUNTEER HOURS FOR APRIL 2017 Citizens on Patrol Reserve Officer Unit VOLUNTEER HOURS FOR 2017 TO DATE: Reserve Officer William Nelson was chosen Volunteer of the Year. Officer Nelson accumulated the most volunteer hours for the 2016 year, recording 163 hours working in the Patrol. Unit.. We appreciate all that our Volunteers do and the hours they donate to the city!

COP Volunteer, Kathleen Connors, not only volunteers as a Citizens on Patrol, Kathleen also assists in the Records Department when needed. ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS DAY To celebrate Administrative Professionals Day, Chief Hall treated several employees to breakfast at the new restaurant, the Breadboard. CST Members assisted Bartow High School Criminal Justice Classes with Relay for Life Fundraising Event held on Friday, April 28 a the High School. WELCOME NEW PATROL OFFICER KEN FENDER On April 25, newest member to Bartow Police Department Ken Fender was sworn-in by Chief Joe Hall

Page 5 2017 CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY The 2017 Citizens Police Academy 10-Week Program, which began Jan. 31st, finished up this month.

The session included a Mock Crime Scene, Firearms Training, and Crime Scene Processing and Collecting Evidence.

Using skills learned during the CPA Program, participants gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses in order to solve a crime.

Gerad Hunt, Officers David Bilbrey and John McKee were on the firing range assisting class members as they practiced shooting skills, firing police issue Glock handguns.

William Stevens and CSI Stacey Perry presented to the class Crime Scene Investigations and allowed participants to dust and lift fingerprints providing a hands on activity.

Class members were encouraged to bring guests to the event. Program presentations this night included: Honor Guard by Ofc.

A plaque of appreciation was presented to American Legion Post 3 Commander Larry MacBlane. The class also presented the Legion with a beautiful plaque of appreciation.

5 Page CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY The 2017 Citizens Police Academy 10-Week Program, which began Jan. 31st, finished up this month. April 4, marked week -9, one of the busiest nights of the CPA Program. The session included a Mock Crime Scene, Firearms Training, and Crime Scene Processing and Collecting Evidence. The Mock Crime Scene was set up by CST Officer Randy Tagliarini and Officer Carl Smith. Using skills learned during the CPA Program, participants gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses in order to solve a crime. Assisting the officers as the witnesses, were Marin Waligorski and Brendan Dorman. Firearms instructors Sgt. Gerad Hunt, Officers David Bilbrey and John McKee were on the firing range assisting class members as they practiced shooting skills, firing police issue Glock handguns. Det. April 11 marked the conclusion of the ten-week course, and a graduation ceremony was held at the Hampton Inn s Conference Room in Bartow. Class members were encouraged to bring guests to the event. Program presentations this night included: Honor Guard by Ofc. Randy Tagliarini, Volunteer Programs by CST Lyn Bryan, Budget & Accreditation by Chief Hall. While total Property Crimes this month show a slight upward turn of 7% from last month, the totals for 2017 to date, are down by 37% when compared to this same time period last year, and down 93% from 2014!
