3 March 3-5 March Basic County Corrections Physical Skills (TEEX LET306) Open 24hrs This course will provide the student with the physical skills training requirements of the TCLEOSE Course # This course will provide the training and physical application needed to understand and apply basic self defense techniques and inmate handling techniques required in the correctional setting. PREREQUISITES: Successful completion of TEEX BCC LET305 Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm (Capt. D. Harmon/Sgt. M Lucia) Location: Orange County Sheriff's LETFOC Training Facility (1154 Trainer Ln, Orange, Texas 77630) FM Mar 2015 Spillman Training HUB training; UCR; evidence and bar-coding. Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm 5-Mar Cultural Diversity Shift 1&3 8hrs This course is designed to provide the student with knowledge of the variety of different cultures in our society. Must be completed to qualify for Intermediate Peace Officer Certificate. (Mandatory for Basic Peace Officers and Corrections Officers) Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm (Dennis Marlow) 4-6 Mar Practical Rifle for Patrol Open 24hrs Goal is to familiarize the student with the fundamentals of the effective use of the AR-15 sytle rifle in a patrol enviornment. To expose the student to a tactical environment that may be encountered while on duty and the effectiveness of a long rifle in turning disadvantage to advantage. This course is not designed to teach you rifle tactics but rather to teach you about the functioning, operation and maintenance of the AR-15 style rifle and those techniques involved in practical marksmanship with this rifle. Student will need duty handgun, duty rig and 100 rounds for handgun. The student will also need his rifle, and 350 rounds of rifle ammo. Clothing suitable for range. Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm (Ray/Lampman/Hodgkinson) Location: May 5 (Orange SO Training - May 6-7 (LETFOC Training Facility (1154 Trainer Ln, Orange, Texas Mar Spillman Training Advance searching; Civil; substitute HUB training for anyone who needs it; 3/12 Code Table assistance, catch-up and clean-up. Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm Mar Glock Semi-Auto Handgun Open 16hrs Goal is to familiarize the student with the fundamentals of basic pistol craft involving the Glock semi-automatic pistol. Student will need a duty quality semi-automatic pistol, quality holster and duty rig. Student will also need at least two spare magazines, eye and ear protection and a minumum of 250 rounds of ammunition. To attend the course the semi-automatic pistol must be in one of the following calibers, 9mm, 40 S&W, or 45 gap. Any other caliber must be cleared with instructor. Clothing suitable for range. It will provide the corrections officer with an understanding of basic communications skills and the ability to use those skills effectively, allowing the employee to better control inmate interactions within a jail environment. Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm Mar Inmate Rights and Privileges (TCLEOSE 3502) Shift 2&4 16hrs This course provides the county corrections officer with an understanding of inmate rights and responsibilities from a case law perspective. This course is one of the intermediate core courses required by TCLEOSE rules to receive intermediate certification as a county corrections officer. (Mandatory for Basic Peace Officers) 23-Apr Defensive Tactics Open 8hrs The purpose of this course is teach the student proper techniques for defending themselves during a confrontation with violent individuals. 28-Apr SCR's regarding immunity for Officers acting in Good Faith Location: Orange County Patrol Division Apr Crisis Communications (TCLEOSE #2120) Open 24hrs The Crisis Communications Course is designed to provide additional information required to become a more proficient emergency telecommunications operator. This course is one of the required courses for obtaining an Intermediate Certificate April Spillman Jail Admin Week Apr Use of Force in a Jail Setting (Course #3504) Shift 1&3 16hrs This course is designed to provide the student with an understanding of use of force situations encountered in a corrections environment. Monk) 2-Jun SCR's Social Media Laws and LE 3-Jun Mental health for Corrections Officer (Required for all jail staff) Shift 1&2 4hrs This course is designed to provide the student with the basic knowledge necessary to deal effectively with inmates who have a variety of mental and psychological disorders. This is a required yearly course for all corrections staff. Time: 8:00am - 12:00pm (Lt. Williams) 3-Jun OC Spray Certification Shift 1&2 4hrs The course provides training on the use of OC Spray which will make available to officers a less than lethal force option that will decrease the number of injuries to officers. Also designed to establish a working understanding of departmental policy and to provide guidelines under which the carrying and use of OC spray by officers is permissible.

8 Time: 1:00pm - 5:00pm (To be determined) 4-Jun Identifying signs of Gang Membership Shifts 1&2 8hrs Whether out of pure curiosity or out of necessity, you may find yourself wanting to be able to identify gang tattoos and symbols. If this is the case, then identifying signs of gang membership will guie you in recognizing these symbols. Time: 8:00am - 12:00pm (Sorge) 28-Jul SCR's Questioning Passengers on Traffic Stops 30-Jul Basic Shotgun Open 8hrs This course will provide the student with the basic understanding of the shotgun, firearms safety, and the basic shooting principle with live fire. Equipment needed: 12 gauge Police type shotgun, (Semi-Auto or Pump), 50 round of 12 gauge 00 Buckshot and 20 round so 12 gauge slugs, eye and ear protection. August Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm (T.Ray)

10 4-Aug SCR's Questioning Passengers on Traffic Stops 5-Aug Taser Certification Open 8hrs Purpose: to make available to officers a less than lethal force option that will decrease the number of injuries to the officers as well as other and to establish departmental policy and to provide guidelines under which the carrying and use of Taser by officers is permissible. 11-Aug SCR's Questioning Passengers on Traffic Stops 12-Aug Defensive Tactics for Peace/Correction Officer Shifts 3&4 8hrs This goal of this class is to identify and test principles and tactics that can be employed by the peace officer and corrections officer when the needs of subject control techniques arise. The course is designed to establish in the officer a degree of proficiency in several methods of subject control that will increase the officer's confidence in his/her own ability to evaluate and react to situations, which require the use of force. These methods will range from verbal control of a subject up through the use of impact weapons. 18-Aug SCR's Questioning Passengers on Traffic Stops 25-Aug SCR on Warrantless Searches 26-Aug Defensive Tactics for Peace/Correction Officer Shifts 1&2 8hrs This goal of this class is to identify and test principles and tactics that can be employed by the peace officer and corrections officer when the needs of subject control techniques arise.
