The meeting was called t rder at 2:32 p.m. by Bard Chair Carl Ruckel. Other Bard members present included Lyle Achziger, Mark Hut, Ray Petersn, and Larry Wd. Cllege President Dr. Leah L. Minutes f the April 19, 2016 Special Bard Meeting ON MOTION OF LYLE ACHZIGER, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED. VI. President s Reprt Dr. Leah L. Brnstein a. Legislative Update- Dr. Geri Andersn On Wednesday, May 11 at 11:59 p.m. the general assembly will adjurn this year s sessin. Aims tw signature bills, the Lcal District Cllege bill and the Hmeless Yuth Tuitin bill, were passed and will be signed by the gvernr. Business Prcess Review Update Aims has started t wrk n the Business Prcess Review t review prcesses thrughut the Cllege and make the prcesses mre efficient and eliminate human errr. b. Administrative Services- Bb Cx, Chief Business Officer Administrative Services is currently wrking n the business prcess review. It is anticipated that there will be significant changes ging frward. Facilities is beginning the prject f remving the PSI building frm the Greeley campus. There will be a prject within facilities t help rerganize physical desk lcatins t align with the functinal realignment. Budget Update Bb reviewed the budget t actuals and asked fr any questins. 2 c. Academic Affairs-Dnna Nrwd, Prvst The Fire Science accreditatin item, mentined previusly, has been reslved. Spring Enrllment Update Dnna briefly reviewed the enrllment reprt. Lee Ann Sappingtn explained in mre detail abut the way that headcunt and FTE are recrded fr each campus. The enrllment numbers are slightly decreasing but verall flattening ut. Libby Klingsmith presented abut the Early Cllege High Schl (ECHS). A vide was presented t the Bard abut the District 6 ECHS students. ECHS students can chse t participate in sprts and extra-curricular activities at their hme high schl. d. Student Affairs- Dr. Patricia Matijevic, Dean, Student Services Aims visits Eagle Ridge Academy nce each semester. There are nw three students frm thse visits that are attending Aims. Next week is celebratin week; cmmencement will be taking place at 5:00 p.m. at the Budweiser event center. Cngress has prvided additinal funding fr the TRiO prgrams and the additinal funding will be used t increase career services available fr the students. Recruitment Update Mst recruitment effrts fcus n the high schl audience. They are the majr cntributrs t the credit hurs taken at Aims. There are als cmmunity events t recruit all demgraphics. There are abut 200 events that fcus n traditinal students and abut 80 events that target nntraditinal students. There are a little under 200 students that have cmpleted the Bright Futures applicatin prcess that will be cntacted as leads fr Aims. e. Bright Futures Cmmunicatin Effrts- Laura Cale Laura Talked abut what Aims is ding abut advertising the Weld Cunty Bright Futures schlarship. There are ads that run in the Greeley Tribune and Tribune Extra. Bright Futures has been featured n the Aims website hme page. Bright Futures advertising has tuched peple abut 2.3 millin times. f. Accreditatin Update- Karline Wdruff Aims hlds reginal accreditatin thrugh the Higher Learning Cmmissin (HLC) and the Cllege utilizes AQiP as the pathway fr accreditatin. There has been a team put tgether t gather evidence and supprt t cntribute t the prtfli. The HLC review f ur additinal lcatins will nt be linked t ur peer review next fall. g. Cmments frm the President Dr. Brnstein nted that she was nt able t attend the safe zne training r the fun run. She recgnized Dr. Ryan Barne fr many accmplishments that he has had ver the last mnth. #22 Kill event was highly successful and the event raised $20,000 and awareness abut military suicide rates. 3 Sandra Owens talked t the Bard abut leaving the Cllege as she will be jining a private law firm. As a pilt prgram Sandra Owens will be wrking with Aims thrugh a private law firm fr six mnths. h. Excellence at Aims!!! Faculty Teaching and Learning Center (FTLC)- Trish Rand, FTLC Directr The FTLC helps faculty members learn hw t teach in the classrm. The FTLC embraces the spirit f the learning cllege. FTLC has established a new faculty develpment prgram t help nbard all new faculty members. There is nging faculty prfessinal develpment that is ffered thrughut the year. There are als pprtunities fr faculty members t attend prfessinal develpment pprtunities utside f the Cllege. There are tw cnferences held n campus each year and there is a plan t try t pen these cnferences t utside participants in the future. VII. Infrmatin Items a. Bard Retreat Update- Katelyn McFee, Bard Liaisn The Bard will receive surveys fr the retreat during the week f May 16. The surveys will need t be cmpleted by June 6. b. Sabbatical Reprt Snya PauKune One f the purpses fr the sabbatical was t infrm students abut the benefits f an art degree. Snya tk the pprtunity t take wrkshps t expand her knwledge and ability in the arts t be able t better instruct her students. Snya shwed many samples f her wrk during her presentatin. c. ON MOTION OF MARK HOUT, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE SALARY PROPOSAL AS PRESENTED. c. FY Budget, First Reading- Bb Cx, CBO Bb discussed the prpsed FY budget. There were changes t the salary prtin f the budget and the BOCES expenses in the budget. ON MOTION OF LYLE ACHZIGER, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE FY15-16 REVISED OPERATING BUDGET. ON MOTION OF LARRY WOOD, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE FY16-17 BUDGET ON FIRST READING. d. Quasi Endwment- Bb Cx, CBO Bb discussed the disslutin f the Quasi Endwment ryalty fund and futures fund due t the PERA liability the Cllege has t carry n the accunting recrds. The funds can still be tracked hwever it cannt be held as a dedicated fund. ON MOTION OF RAY PETERSON, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED TO CLOSE THE QUASI-ENDOWMENT ROYALTY FUND, AND THE QUASI-ENDOWMENT FUTURE FUND AND RESCIND THE ACTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ON APRIL 3, e. Emeritus fr Paula Yanish- Dr. Patricia Matijevic, Dean, Student Services Dr. Matijevic made a recmmendatin fr Paula Yanish t be cnsidered fr Emeritus Status in recgnitin f her service t the Cllege and t students. Assciated Students f Aims Cmmunity Cllege (ASACC President, Tammy Ortiz) The student gvernment vted t cntinue the $1 student bus passes fr next year. NSLS will be inducting 30 new members n Friday, May 6. ASACC is still lking fr peer educatrs fr the Frt Luptn Windsr and Lveland campuses fr the academic year. Tammy shared her appreciatin fr being n the ASACC bard and her time at Aims. Larry Wd- Appreciated the discussin f the functinal realignment and the 50 th anniversary planning at the wrk sessin. c. Ray Petersn- Trustee Petersn shared that he is impressed with the quality f the institutin and the staff. d. Lyle Achziger- Attended the veteran s fundraiser and it was a fantastic event. Cmpliment the staff fr the infrmatinal material quality. e. Carl Ruckel- Kuds t the veterans that put tgether the veteran s fundraiser. The Frt Luptn Campus will be hsting Cinc de Pie- and the LULAC club will be raising mney by selling pies t thrw at prfessrs. XI.
