1 Blue Alert Foundation SUMMARY Mission Blue Alert Foundation serves and protects the law enforcement community by providing assistance to the families of fallen officers and advocating for the passage of a Blue Alert law in each state. When enacted, the law facilitates the apprehension of offenders who kill or seriously injure law enforcement officers by issuing a statewide alert to the public via media and governmental notification outlets of known details and descriptions of the offender.blue Alert Foundation is a non-profit organization that has three very distinct charitable initiatives that we are performing. 3 BACKGROUND & NEEDS Impact Statement May Formerly known as the LEO Alert in Florida, we launched the Blue Alert National tification System which originated in Sarasota County. Since the launch we have integrated the social networking & social media aspects of the notification system to include; Facebook, Twitter, Our Blue Alert Foundation Blog & Google +.May 2008 to Present - The Blue Alert National tification System has been launched in 16 states and will be adding additional states in the months to come. Texas and California were on board in 2008 and other states like Colorado, Ohio, Maryland and Utah followed shortly after.the system was put to the test with the Dougherty Sibling Shootings that spanned 7 states.charitable Initiative 1We have created, support, maintain, promote and operate the National tification System, Blue Alert, that enables the communication between law-enforcement agencies, broadcasters, transportation agencies, & the social & wireless industries, to activate an urgent bulletin when a law enforcement officer(s) is seriously injured or killed. The intention of the bulletin is to inform the local & state-to-state law enforcement agencies and the public of the fugitives that are at large and to expedite their apprehension.charitable Initiative 2We are working to bring support to the families of the fallen officers. The unexpected loss of life or the loss of everyday function can put a strain on these families. We are here to help in the most effective ways possible. The funds that we raise will help us help the foundations and families effected by such terrible loss.charitable Initiative 3We are working Nationally to bring support to Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies all over the country by offering items that are necessary to the law enforcement officers jobs and safety. Your Donations and support will allow us to bring much needed items like Bullet Proof Vests, Vests for K-9s, Body Cameras & more to Law Enforcement Agencies small and large. Needs Statement 1. A home office located in the Sarasota area. $2,000-$2,500 per month. 2. Computers, Furnishings and AV Equipment will be required. 3) Desktop Computers, 2) Flat Panel 42-50" Televisions and Desks Chairs and filing all totals approximately $15, Salaries for all employees $250,000 will be needed initially for 5 employees, includes funds for taxes, insurance & other employee related costs. 3 Board Members to be paid $6K per year 4. Trademarking of our Blue Alert Logo - approximately $1,200 with legal fees. 5. Funds to accomplish our Charitable Initiatives 1, 2 & 3. Charitable Initiative 1 will require $150,000 per year to support, maintain, operate and promote. Charitable Initiative 2 will help the families of the fallen officers and we will be there to help support them. There were 173 officers killed last year and we want to have $5,000 available for each family. We are looking for $900,000 per year for this initiative. Charitable Initiatives 3 states that we will need to provide the local agencies and chapters with equipment that agencies can not afford. The vest retail for $750 and the body cams retail for $400. If we can help 500 officers with vest and 500 with cameras we will need $600,000. Background Statement In 2008, the Blue Alert National tification System was created. It was known as the LEO Alert back then and the new name was derived shortly after. The National tification System is an alert system that allows for quick apprehension of the criminals that public and media notification in the event that a Law Enforcement Officer is injured or killed In 2012 we decided to create the Blue Alert Foundation to support the efforts of the notification system as well as new initiative in supporting the fallen officers families and providing equipment to law enforcement agencies that may not be able to outfit their officers properly. 5 PROGRAMS Charitable Initiative #1 Description Program #1 - Charitable Initiative 1 - Operate, Maintain, Improve and educate states, local law enforcement and the public about the Blue Alert National tification System. We have created, support, maintain, promote and operate the National tification System, Blue Alert, that enables the communication between law-enforcement agencies, broadcasters, transportation agencies, and the social and wireless industries, to activate an urgent bulletin when a law enforcement officer(s) is seriously injured or killed. Our long term goals are monitored by the fact that we have 50 states to connect to our system and we currently have 16. 6 Charitable Initiative #2 Description We are working to bring support to the families of the fallen officers. The unexpected loss of life or the loss of everyday function can put a strain on these families. We are here to help in the most effective ways possible. The funds that we raise will help us help the foundations and families effected by such terrible loss. We are hoping to be able to offer as much as $5,000 per family by offering them different options such as monetary assistance, scholarships, debt relief and more. With and average of 12 law enforcement officer deaths over the past 2 years we will need to help many families. Our long term goal will be to help law enforcement officers obtain the safety equipment, body armor & body cameras, that can help save their lives or help capture those images that could help to prosecute the criminals. Our goals is to offer 500 Cameras and Vest per year to Law Enforcement Officers all over the country. When we are able to deliver 1 Vest/Camera combo per state we will know that we are going to be able to change these officer's lives.
