In rder fr Muntwest Cmmunity & Technical Cllege t maintain a safe and secure envirnment in which t cnduct educatin activities, the Cllege had been perating n the prpsed rule as an Administrative Prcedure. Fllwing discussin, a mtin was made by Tm Gibsn and secnded by Cathy Burns fr the Bard t give ntice f the intent t establish an institutinal rule n Firearms, Weapns & Explsives and that prvided n substantive cmments are received, the rule will be apprved. The mtin was apprved. 6. President s Reprt Dr. Keith J. Ctrne, President: President Ctrne reprted n the fllwing items: The Fall 2016 semester began August 15, Althugh the Benedum grant prpsal was nt selected, the Cllege has mved frward with a Dual Credit initiative pilting in the Cabell Cunty high schls. Several areas within the Career and Technical Divisin have been identified fr dual credit curses. Megan Russell is serving as the crdinatr f this initiative. September 22 is Cllege Day at Muntwest. This day was frmerly knwn as Tech Prep Day. High schl students within the cllege s service area will be cming t Muntwest fr ne-half day f instructin. President Ctrne requested the Bard review the Memrandum f Understanding with Marshall University at its next meeting. A number f transitins within the Cllege have ccurred r are under cnsideratin: Mike Dunn retired as the Directr f Physical Plant effective June 30, The cntract with the Cllege Bkstre is cming up fr bid. Fllett is the current vendr.
4 A request fr prpsals fr marketing services fr the Cllege is currently underway as the current cntract with Bulldg Creative Services will be expiring sn. The Cllege is cnsidering what internal staffing needs fr marketing that there may be within the cllege. The Cllege is partnering with Ohi University n a degree in Nursing where students attend their first year at Muntwest and cmplete their next three years fr a Bachelr s degree in Nursing at Ohi University and a BS degree in Scial Wrk where students cmplete tw years at Muntwest and tw years at Ohi University. The Cllege has recently cmpleted feasibility studies n childcare and the need fr a facility fr the Vet Tech prgram. A request fr prpsals t prvide Café services at the Cllege will cnclude sn. The Cllege is cnsidering internal versus external csts assciated with perating the Café. Cngressman Evan Jenkins will be n campus September 19, 2016 fr the Cllege s annual Cnstitutin Day Celebratin. The Cllege is pilting a perfrmance management system fr all staff called the Big 5. Direct reprts t the President are currently participating in the pilt prgram.
